When folks try to steal glory from the One True and Living God, dramatic judgments fall. We see this play out in the Bible, and it continues today if our eyes are open to see it. Scripture shows dramatic deaths in the lives of people and societies who tried to rob Yahweh of the glory due Him. John discusses this idea and how it applies to struggles we are walking through today!

Deuteronomy 24:6 (KJV 1900): No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he taketh a man’s life to pledge. Many law enforcement officials have no desire to enforce making mandates and COVID restrictions. They don’t want to arrest Christians for singing or bust in a church meeting in violation of governors orders. However, a frequent argument is that they are afraid of losing their job. We as believers in Jesus Christ should be willing to say, “Stand with us. We support you. We have your back if you lose your job.”

I took my family into the city for church and shopping. We went to some big box stores and found we were the only people not abiding by the masking mandate. Where are all the folks who said “They can’t arrest us all?” I’m the only one they would’ve had to nab!
Whether you intend it or not, everything in this life has turned into a political statement. For thinking Christians, this gives us an opportunity to point to the standard that we appeal to in our lives as we pursue the image of Christ-likeness.
