In this session we try to find universal aspects in a story of a life that was just about to begin, however late, when the illness ME came crashing through the door. In this session we take root in a story I received from a flourist who was bedridden for 5 years without getting any help. That was until she found the cause herself. Lethal parasites. We talk about rules vs the univeral and try to take her experience of distrust in the health care system and transfer it into an imaginary dialogue between her and the doctor who neglected her. We reference the themes and try to get something new into the structure whilst holding on to the core. It turns dark and bright, emotional and honest. Then she plants a tree. In this, the first live composition session, we introduce the main theme - the anchor for the composition process and find a foundation for the musical themes. They take the form of an ox and two birds - the symbolic image of the real life story. This session is based on a man I meet, whose wife and daughter both suffer from the chronic illness Myalgic Encephalomyelitis - An illness of the nervous, immune and hormone systems, and he is alone in caring for them, desperate to find a doctor who would help them.
