How frustrating is it when people disagree with your answer to the question where are you from!? In this podcast I talk about some mindsets to release the frustration with the question 'where are you from'. It is so important to have confidence in our identity to release that frustration but I know it is easier said than done. In this podcast I go over peoples natural instinct to categorise and how to be okay with that and I also go over a concept in my book about taking control of any conversation regarding your identity. Having peace with the disagreements is the best way forward to gain confidence in your culturally blended identity and I'm here to give guidance and advice to do so!

In this podcast I talk about how travelling has an influence on your identity and self-development. I go over my thoughts on that teenager/young adult identity crisis when you have this instinct to find yourself because you no longer have to conform with expectations possibly set by your high school education system or your family. The world becomes this far bigger space that has endless opportunities and endless ways to live your life that it you gives you the opportunity to be your true self but it can take a little while to discover that. In my opinion travel is one of the best ways to find the answers you seek in your identity, wants and desires. Does that convince you already to go book that flight!?

I find that there is a discrepancy with what 'from' means in the question "where are you from?" It could mean what is your nationality, what is your ethnicity, what country is your accent from and a list of other things. In this episode I go through the inconsistency that people experience with this question where are you from when 'from' tends to mean something different in different people's perception of you.

Does the question, "where are you from?", frustrate you? Are you sick of being asked, "No, where are you really from?" Well same my friends, same. This is such a common thing and today I am talking about it and sharing examples about the awkwardness of follow up questions that we sometimes get when people don't believe our first answer to this question.
