Harran:After fleeing from home because of his brother’s anger and threats after Jacob deceived their father and stole the blessing, Jacob finally arrived in Harran the town of his uncle Laban. When Jacob arrives at the well he finds 3 herds of sheep with their shepherds waiting for additional shepherds to come and help roll away the stone. When Jacob’s cousin Rachel comes with her father’s sheep Jacob musters up amazing strengthen and moves the stone himself. After revealing who he is to Rachel she runs home and tells her father who comes and invites Jacob to stay with them.Work for a wife:After seeing what a good worker Jacob is his uncle Laban asks him what he would like for wages. Jacob says he will work seven years for Laban’s younger daughter Rachel. Jacob works the seven years and they seem to go fast.The deceiver deceived:At the end of the seven years Jacob asks Laban to give him his wages, Rachel as his wife. Unbeknown to Jacob Laban switches out the younger daughter Rachel for the older daughter Leah. In the morning Jacob is shocked and infuriated. He complains to Laban who agrees to give Rachel for another seven years of service. The parallels:The parallels between Jacob and Leah are amazing:• Jacob pretended to be his older brother Leah pretended to be her younger sister• Jacob was encouraged by his mother Leah was encouraged by her father• Jacob knew birthright rule, worked to take it Jacob knew the first born rule, tried to ignore it• Jacob was destined to receive the birthright Leah was destined to be Jacob’s wife• Jacob deceived to fulfill God’s will Jacob was deceived to fulfill God’s willPowerful Parallels:The parallels between that list and the Messiah are even more amazing. God’s four fold promises:God made four specific promises personally to Abraham, and to Isaac, and to Jacob. God spoke to each one of them and to each of them He promised they would be multiplied, that He would be with them and bless them, that all the world would be blessed through them, and that they would inherit the land.Many today question those promises. They try to say that those promises apply to other people. They try to spiritualize those promises. The land:In this week’s service we specifically look at the promise of the land. It is amazing how many times God promised the land to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. It is even in the 10 commandments. Yet people want to minimize this promise.Even greater:As we look at these texts and the reality of history we will see a very clear and plan truth emerge. When Isaac was between 60 and 80 years of age there was a famine in the land and he brought his family to Gerer, which was under the leadership of Abimelech (Avi-melech), king of the Philistines. We saw in a previous sermon regarding Abraham and Abimelech that the name/title Avimelech means “my father is king.” This very well could be the same Avimelech that Abraham met with and lied to. Since Abraham lived 175 years it is possible that Avimelech was much younger than Abraham when they meet, and that he could still be alive at the time of this account with Isaac. There is also another indication in this chapter that gives credence to the very real possibility that this is the same Avimelech.Avimelech as an example:We saw in the sermon regarding Abraham and Avimelech that while Avimelech was a human who lived at that time, some of his actions prefigured those of the Messiah (Whose Father is King). We see some of that in this chapter with Isaac as well.Isaac followed Abraham’s bad example of lying to Avimelech. In the second part of Genesis 26, in spite of how Isaac acted, Avimelech sought Isaac out to make a peace treaty with him. Isaac’s reaction to Avimelech is very telling of Isaac’s mindset at that point and a good mirror for us to see ourselves in.There is much we can learn about Yeshua, and our own lives, from Avimelech’s example. Our example:Have you ever felt distant from God? Have you ever felt God is working against you? Have you had troubles with neighbor’s, work associates, family, or friends? Have you made wrong choices and acted out of fear? Isaac BlessedBecause of a drought Isaac moves to Gerer, an area ruled by Abimelech (Avi-melech), king of the Philistines. Isaac’s father, Abraham, had also lived in this area during a drought. At that time Abraham lied about his Sarah, saying she is his sister, instead of saying that she is his wife. Avimelech innocently takes Sarah as wife, but is restrained by God from having relations with her. This incident took place within the year that God Himself came in the flesh and prophesied to Abraham that Sarah would conceive Isaac. This whole incident endangered the conception of Isaac. The lie brought shame upon Abraham.Then over 60 years later Isaac comes to this same man and also lies about his wife saying she is his sister. In some ways Isaac’s lie is worse in that Sarah was Abraham’s half-sister, but that was not the case with Isaac and Rebecca (she was his cousin). In this account Avimelech does not take Rebecca as wife, but he does find out Isaac’s lie and rebukes him for it. In spite of Isaac’s lack of faith, lying, and not immediately repenting of the wrong, God abundantly blesses Isaac.Being blessed while in disobedience seems contrary to other statements in the Bible. God did have a reason for blessing Isaac at this point in his life. Problems:While being blessed by God, Isaac has problems from people. Isaac’s example helps teach us some important life lessons.Have you been blessed by God? Have you always deserved it? Have you appreciated it? Have people ever caused problems in your life? Abraham’s Family, How Yeshua Kept from Sinning Even as a YouthThe Bible clearly tells us that Yeshua was tempted in all ways as we are, yet He did not sin. How did He do it? Did He have something available to Him that we don’t have available to us? If that was the case than He would not have been tempted in all ways as we are, so that can’t be the answer. Yet He did what no one has done, but which all are called to do. So how did He do it? Finding the answer to that question is the vital key to living a godly life. We will discover the answer to that all important question today, from the Bible. Some people picture Yeshua walking around with a halo over His head, or that His mother was immaculate in order to give birth to a perfect child, but neither of those are pictures that the Bible give us. The Bible says, “Yeshua grew both in wisdom and in stature, gaining favor both with other people and with God.” Luke 2:52. Thus He continually grew with God while here on earth. The Inspired Word of God also tells us, in relation to when He descended from His Divinity to earth, “as the children have partaken of flesh & blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same… Therefore, in all things He had to be made like” us. So since He was made (when He came to this earth) “in all things like us” how did He do what you and I have not done?The Bible also tells us that we will “arrive… at full manhood, at the standard of maturity set by the Messiah’s perfection.” Ephesians 4:13. That is a wonderful promise that we also will grow in stature to the full maturity of Messiah’s perfection, wow. And to those who receive that promise receive this gift: “To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.” Revelation 3:21Thus He became “in all things like us” to be our example, so that we can be in all things like Him. But how? How can we overcome as He also overcame? We will find out today!Yeshua, the Seed of AbrahamBy looking at Abraham’s family line it will help us understand a little more about Yeshua and how we, like Him, can have victory no matter our inherited tendencies to do wrong.Abraham’s family line, through his father Terah, is a very interesting study. There were many intermarriages among family members bringing about some interesting results. For example Abraham married his half-sister Sarah, Abraham’s nephew Lot was raped by his own daughters, and several other family related bed fellows. All of that inbreeding brought about several nations. Mourning SarahAfter the death of Sarah Abraham mourned for her. We don’t know how long they had been married, but they had been together for over 60 years since we were first introduced to them in chapter 11 of the book of Genesis. Seeing as how they were half sister and brother, they knew each other since Sarah’s birth. Thus Abraham was grieving for his sister of 127 years and his wife of over 60 years at the same time. Genesis 23:2 is the first verse in the Bible that specifically mentions someone mourning. It does not mention if Abraham sat shiva or if he held a memorial service for her, but there is an indication of something along that line at the death of Abraham, more on that in a few more paragraphs. Proper grieving is important. The next chapter in the Bible, Genesis 24:67 mentions that Isaac was still grieving his mother Sarah three years later when it says, “Isaac brought (Rebekah) into his mother Sarah’s tent… and she became his wife, and he loved her. Isaac was comforted after his mother’s death.” Sarah’s tent had remained standing for at least those three years. Isaac might not have done things that would have helped him properly grieve his mother, Sarah’s, death. There is no mention of Isaac participating in the burial, no mention of him or his father, Abraham, having a memorial service or sitting shiva. Sitting shiva is not mentioned until Joseph mourning his father Jacob. Isaac seems to have done better with the death of his father, Abraham, again, more on that in a few more paragraphs.Burying SarahWhen Sarah died Abraham sought a place to bury her. He choose a field and cave owned by Ephron the Hittite and asked him to “give” it to him and he will “pay” him for it. The two of them go back and forth using these concepts “give” and “price.” Those seem not only opposites but in opposition to each other. In our society you can’t “pay” for a “gift,” and you can’t “charge” for a “gift.” But we see in this story that nothing is free – even gifts. Nothing is free, even our salvation (that is an interesting, in some circles heretical, but Biblical concept – click on the video with this article to understand this truth). In some way shape of form someone, including all of us, pay for everything. Death of AbrahamAbraham outlived Sarah by about another 40 years. During that time he remarried and had more children. When He died Isaac invited Ismael to come back and participate in the burial. Isaac would be about 75 years old by this time and obviously did not hold a grudge against Ismael. Abraham willed everything to Isaac. It does not seem like Ismael was jealous of that. Both came together to remember their father Abraham. How beautiful. In Genesis chapter 20 we read about Abraham lying to Avimelech regarding Sarah. Then in chapter 21 Avimelech comes back to Abraham, this time with the commander of his army to call Abraham out for his sin and to get an assurance from Abraham that he will not do it again. After Abraham is humbled and promises not to do it again, Abraham uses this opportunity to call out a wrong that he feels Avimelech has done to him. Then the two of them go about making peace together through a covenant ceremony.Preparing for Yom Kippur:During the Ten Days of Awe between Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur we are reminded to make our records clean and right with God. This Biblical account is a good reminder for us to speak with those who have wronged us and do all that we can on our part, by God’s grace, to make things right.Not only is this Biblical account of Abraham and Avimelech historical, it has spiritual significance regarding God’s eternal plan for humanity and for our own personal lives.Are their people in your life that you need to address for wrongs they have done to you? After 25 years of waiting for the son of promise to be born God finally fulfilled His oath to Abraham and Isaac was miraculously born to Sarah. Some thirteen to twenty years later when Isaac was at least in his teen years, God called Abraham to sacrifice his only son, the son he loved. How could God ask such a thing? Wouldn’t that have been murder? How was Abraham’s descendants going to be as many as the sands of the sea or the stars of heaven if he killed the one through whom those descendants would come? Many doubts regarding this command must have come into Abraham’s mind. This was the biggest test of his life, one of the biggest tests that any human has been asked to perform. Abraham chose to obey God. He took two servants, Isaac, and most of the preparations for the journey of three days. But one vital item was missing. Isaac did not notice it was missing until the third day, but when he asked about it Abraham gave him one of the most amazing prophetic answers in the Bible.God led them to a specific mountain which later on would have huge significance for hundreds of years, and for our day as well.When they reach the mountain Abraham asked the two servants to wait while Isaac and he continued on a little further. Abraham added a phrase to those instructions which is an astounding statement of faith. The TestAbraham and Isaac built the altar for the sacrifice. At some point Abraham reveald to Isaac the command of the Lord. Isaac’s reaction was most interesting. Isaac was youthful and full of strength, while Abraham was old and weary after an arduous and restless three day. Isaac could have done anything he wanted to do, but his response was amazing, and prophetic. The test was not only for Abraham, but also for Isaac. It is easy for us to at times focus on the sacrifice of the father, and forget about how much the test was also for the son. It is also easy for us to focus on the sacrifice of the Son and forget the sacrifice on the part of the Father.Looking deeper than what is on the surfaceIn this week’s sermon Rabbi Jeff Zaremsky helps us see the deep messages in this Biblical account. Abraham and Sarah held a party celebrating that their miraculously born child, Isaac, was weaned. I am sure 90 year old Sarah was very thankful that day had finally arrived. Hagar, Sarah’s maid, and Ismael, the son she bore to Abraham, were at the party. Ismael was probably around 16 years of age at this point. During the party Ishmael showed his jealousy by mocking Isaac. It is understandable that Ismael would be jealous after years of being the only child, the inheritor of all of Abraham’s wealth. Sarah noticed the jealousy and she was not going to allow it to harm the unity of bond she had with her husband Abraham. She told Abraham that Hagar and Ismael needed to be cast out. Abraham was distraught over the thought of being separated from Ismael, whom he loved. God knowing Abraham’s heart gave him guidance by instructing him to listen to Sarah and cast out the bondservant and her son. God choose not to acknowledge their names. God knows that Abraham is still concerned for them and He assures Abraham that they will be well and that from Ishmael many people will come, even mighty nations. Symbolic spiritual meaning:While this is a very real story with even more drama in it than just mentioned, it also has deep spiritual meaning. Rabbi Paul, the writer of the book of Galatians, wrote “it is written that Abraham had two sons: the one by a bondwoman, the other by a freewoman. But he who was of the bondwoman was born according to the flesh, and he of the freewoman through promise, which things are symbolic. For these are the two covenants: the one from Mount Sinai which gives birth to bondage, which is Hagar— for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children— but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all. For it is written: “Rejoice, O barren, you who do not bear! Break forth and shout, you who are not in labor! For the desolate has many more children than she who has a husband.” Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are children of promise. But, as he who was born according to the flesh then persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, even so it is now. Nevertheless what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the bondwoman and her son, for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.” So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman but of the free.” Galatians 4:22-31 Two women, two sons, two locations, two covenants:In this week’s sermon Rabbi Jeff Zaremsky helps us understand what these two women, two sons, two locations represent, and what are the two covenants. Is one of the covenants, the one represented by Hagar and Mount Sinai, the Ten Commandments, as is commonly taught in some circles? Are the Ten Commandments to be cast out? No, of course not! God forbid, as Rabbi Paul would say. That would not make sense in light of what the rest of the Bible says regarding the Ten Commandments which were given by God Himself, written with His own finger, on tablets of stone, placed inside the Ark of the Covenant in the Holy of Holies. Rabbi Paul says are: “The law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good.” Romans 7:12. And Yeshua said, “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.” Matthew 5:18. So than what are the two covenants? At the age of 90, after being promised by God a child for at least the previous 25 years, Sarah gave birth to a son. It was a miraculous occurrence like no other mentioned prior to God creating Adam from dust, and Eve from a rib. Sarah was beyond child bearing age. Abraham and Abimelech, Abraham Lies AgainFor reasons not revealed, after being given the promise that in a year’s time Sarah will have a son, and after sodom & gommorah were destroyed, Abraham moved his caravan south near Gaza. Abimelech was king in that area. Like Abraham did twenty years before, he lied (or half truthed) about Sarah being his sister. Abimelech took 90 year old Sarah as a wife. This was a precarious situation because it was during this time that Sarah needed to be conceiving through Abraham so they could have a child within the year that God promised they would. One might excuse Abraham for not initially remembering the events of 20 years before when he did a similar thing with the Egyptian Pharaoh. One might excuse Abraham for being fearful for his life if it was known that Sarah was his wife. But when Abimelech took it to heart and indicated he was going to take Sarah as his wife Abraham should have spoken up.All is well that ends well?By the end of this Biblical account it looks like Abraham made out pretty well. But surface reading could be deceiving. This was not a time when Abraham was a good example.More to the storyOne might wonder why this story is in the Bible. Certainly we can learn from Abraham’s mistakes, but is there more to it than just that? Yes there is, and this story is no exception. There are some very profound insights hidden in this story that demonstrate that this story is bigger than just Abraham lying and everything working out fine in spite of it. A Lot of lifeThe Bible gives us quite a bit of information about Abraham’s nephew Lot. We almost have to wonder why he is mentioned as often as he was. In this video we will review the entire historical record of this man, and the choices he made.His life started off with such promise, and the record ends as a widower living in a cave with two of his daughters, who basically rape him. MirroringAs we look at Lot’s life we will see the opportunities he was given, being associated with Abraham, having wealth, family, protection, position, and seeing God’s divine hand. As in the days of Noah and as in the Days of Lot so Shall it be at the Coming of the Son of Man. History repeating itself The Bible clearly gives us examples of what has happened in the past that will be repeated in the last days. We can know we are in the last days because the situation is similar to the examples given. Two of the examples given are “as in the days of Noah,” and “as in the days of Lot… So shall it be at the coming of the Son of Man.” As we look at what happened in the days of Noah and in the days of Lot and compare them with what is happening today we see we are very close to the coming of the Son of Man. One Taken, One Left In relation to the prediction that it will be as in the days of Noah and the days of Lot, Yeshua made a bold prophetic declaration recorded in Luke 17 verses 35-37. “Two women will be grinding together: the one will be taken and the other left. Two men will be in the field: the one will be taken and the other left.” Then His disciples asked where would those who were taken be taken, and Yeshua gave an answer that will astound many. Righteous and Wicked Who remained alive and standing in Noah’s day? Who remained alive and standing in the days of Lot? So also will it be at the coming of the Son of Man. How many years apart was there between the judgment on the wicked and the protection and deliverance of God’s people in the days of Noah? And what about in Lot’s day? Remember Lot’s wifeLot’s wifeWhile we are never told her name, she has been known for 3,500 year or so, to the time of Abraham. The Bible even encourages us to remember her. She is known as “Lot’s wife” and other than the recommendation to remember her, she is only mentioned in three verses, all in just one chapter of the Bible. RememberUnfortunately what she is remembered for is not flattering. We are encouraged to remember her as a warning for us not to make the same mistake that she made. It is not for one final act that we are to remember, but the motives and reason she made that fatal mistake. Her action and what caused her to do such an unwise thing is a lesson for us all. One LookHer whole life is summed up in just one look. A look can be very revealing of where our hearts are. What are we looking at? What has our attention? At what are we ogling (or googling)? The Bible prophesied over 2,500 years ago that the final war for this world would start with Islamist attacks. We are seeing the fulfillment of that prophecy right now. We have seen the rise in attacks coming from Islamists, such as the brutal, inhuman, barbaric, satanic attack of Hamas against Israeli citizens on Simchat Torah, Oct 7, 2023, and the rise of ISIS in 2014 against everyone they came in contact with, and even before that in 2001 with the attack on civilians when they flew planes into the World Trade Center buildings in NYC. And we should not forget the thousands of Christians in Africa who are regularly being kidnapped and raped, mutilated, and murdered, and churches burned,and many other atrocities that would be too many to count.Where does the Bible prophecy the rise of attacks from Islamists against the world?In 2010 Tim Roosenberg wrote a book entitled Islam and Christianity in Prophecy, in which he interpreted chapter 11 of the book of Daniel to predict that Islam would attack the world, in particularly the Christian world, and the Jewish world in the process. Then four years later ISIS rose up and began fulfilling exactly what Tim interpreted from Daniel 11. And we have seen the continuance of that. Not only does Daniel 11 predict Islam’s attack, it predicts Christianity’s response, and the end result of this final battle. In contrast to the prophecies of Daniel 2, Daniel 7, Daniel 8 and 9, and all of Revelation, which are all filled with tremendous amounts of symbolism, Daniel 11 is very literal. Daniel 11 is not the first prophecy in the book of Daniel, thus it was not meant to be the first read and interpreted. A proper understanding of Daniel 2, 7, 8 and 9, leads to a proper understanding of Daniel 11.The Final War.In this final war each side unites with interesting, and even unusual, partners, partners who at one time were diametrically opposed to each other, partners who are theologically and ideologically opposite, partners who, once the war is over, will be in opposition to each other once again, with brutal consequences. While this war is going on these strange bedfellow partnerships stay together for the cause of fighting a greater enemy, but once that greater enemy is annihilated the winner will then attack their temporary partners, because the goal of this final war is not world peace, but world domination. This final war for the world will not be isolated merely in Israel. It is a global war that will affect every single person on this earth, including you and me. Remember, while Daniel 11 is very literal, the other prophecies of Daniel and all of Revelation are symbolic, thus the symbolism in Revelation has global applications.We don’t need to read or watch the news and be afraid. We can read the Bible and be warned, prepared, and assured of the final outcome. We can be secure in our God and know that life on this fallen planet is not the final end. We look for a better land, and a city whose builder and maker is God.But does God care about us today? Abraham Prayed To the Lord
In chapter 18 of Genesis Abraham very humbly, yet with persistency, talks God down to sparing Sodom if there are at least ten righteous people in it. Why did Abraham stop at ten? What was God’s original number that He would have spared the city for if Abraham had not interceded?
While Abraham was very humble in his attitude in speaking with God, yet his requests are very bold. What type of picture of God could cause someone to be totally humble before God as Abraham was, yet at the same time be bold enough to ask God the things that Abraham did? On the one had it takes knowing how pure God is, and on the other knowing how helpless and wicked we are without Him. Secondly, it takes knowing that the true God, the God who created the heavens and the earth, the Lord God, the ultimate Judge, is also very approachable. One that loves to speak with and hear from His children. One who is not offended by our requests. One who longs to give us what is good for us. And One who is loving and does not wish that any should perish.
Sins of Sodom
The Bible says that the sins of Sodom where great and very grave (or serious). The only sin that is specifically mentioned is the sin of Sodomy. Sodomy, also knowns as homosexually, gets its name from this city and from this Biblical account.
Praying for Sodom
What should be our attitude towards those who participate in sexual actions or desires that the Bible clearly warns us against? The example of Abraham are a great demonstration for us, giving us the answer to that question.

Three men
In Genesis 18 Abraham had a very interesting encounter with three very interesting men. Who were these “men?” Before we even contemplate that question we should look at why they came to Abraham and what they do.
Abraham’s Hospitality
As soon as Abraham noticed these three men he ran over to them, bowed himself, and invited them to stop and rest themselves, and to allow him to prepare them a meal. They agreed and Abraham ran again to prepare them a meal. (I am not sure what the rush was. They weren’t doing anything but sitting around in the wilderness).
Milk and Meat – kosher?
Abraham & Sarah prepared these three “men” an interesting meal of milk, butter, and meat from a calf. While they were eating this meal, which according to modern kashrut laws would be un-kosher, Abraham stood by them.
Sarah Will Have a Child
After they ate this meal one of them told Abraham that he would have a son through Sarah, who was beyond child bearing age. He also said he would revisit them the next year and Sarah would have her child by then. When Sarah heard this the Bible says: “she laughed within herself.” Even though she laughed within herself this “visitor” knew it and called her out regarding it. Obviously this “person” speaking was unique.
Down to Sodom
From Abraham’s tent the three men and Abraham walked to a view of Sodom and Gomorrah. The Bible then clearly identifies who those three “men” were. Two of them were identified one way, as they went on to their destination, and the third one was clearly identified as “he” stayed and continued to speak with Abraham.

Sarah Laughs
In Genesis 17 the Lord appeared to Abraham and told him that he and Sarah were going to have a child together. Abraham fell over laughing. In this chapter, chapter 18, the Lord again appeared to Abraham and repeats His promise. This time Sarah laughs within herself.
When Abraham laughed the Lord did not address it, but with Sarah He called her out for laughing. Sarah’s response to being caught by the Lord is interesting and tells us a lot about ourselves.
Is Anything Too Hard for the Lord
After Sarah responds to the Lord calling her out on laughing at God’s promise the Lord responded to her with a very revealing statement about God. He asked her a question. That question is a good one to think about every day of our lives.
Sarah Laughs Again
The Lord does come through for Sarah and Abraham and they miraculously have a child together. This time Sarah laughs for joy. And she invites us to laugh with her since God is well able to do the miraculous in our lives today as well.
Abraham and Sarah name the child Isaac, as God instructed them to do. The name Isaac means laughter. How appropriate.
The fact that God used a miraculous situation to bring Isaac into the world should not surprise us that God uses miraculous births at times to get a message across to us.

3,500 years of Circumcising
In Judaism circumcising a male child is as natural as changing his diaper. This procedure has been done since the time of Abraham almost 3,500 years ago. God threatened to kill Moses because he had not circumcised his sons. There are proven health benefits as a result of circumcision. Many hospitals in many parts of the world routinely offer circumcision to parents of both Jewish and non-Jewish sons. Yeshua was circumcised on the eighth day of his life. Paul was circumcised on the eighth day of his life. Muslims circumcise their sons at the age of thirteen. For all those reasons it seems strange that in the first century there was a big ongoing debate regarding circumcision that has affected millions since then.
613 Commandments – what still applies today?
This also brings into question which of the 613 commandments of the Torah still apply today? Some will give a quick answer; “all!” But included in the 613 are things such as which Levitical families carried which pieces of sanctuary furniture through the wilderness. I think we can all agree that does not apply for today. I believe there is a simple “formula,” or “test” that can be applied to all 613 commandments to see which ones still apply today to everyone who wants to truly follow God. Does circumcision pass that “test”? What about the Holy days? Or what we eat? Or Sabbath?
Circumcision
In this sermon we will be looking at the topic of circumcision in the context of Genesis 17 when God first introduced the topic to Abraham. We will also be answering some questions such as; why do Muslim’s circumcise their sons at thirteen years of age and not on the eighth day of life? How old was Abraham when he was circumcised? Should circumcision still be done? Should the feasts still be kept? Are pigs now acceptable to eat? As well as other important insights that impact our lives.
Everlasting
How long is everlasting? That simple question is not as easily answered as it seems on the surface. The above questions are a few of the questions Rabbi Jeff Zaremsky will be discussing in this video.

Sins of the Amorites Not Complete.
Have you ever wondered why a loving God would destroy innocent men, women, and children?
Any reader of the Bible knows there have been times when God brought down fire and brimstone and destroyed cities, and that he instructed Moses, Joshua, Saul, David, and others to totally wipe out whole cities, villages, and nations with everyone in it regardless of their age, political leanings, or military or civilian status.
At the same time any reader of the Bible knows that the God of the Bible, the Creator God, is very loving, merciful, longsuffering, patient, and not desiring that any should be lost. A God who considers all of humanity His children.
To those who don’t believe in God the above two descriptions of God don’t harmonize. Thus, for them, it is evidence that either God does not really exist and the Bible is just fables, or that God is inconsistent, loving and merciful sometime, but if He gets really angry, or has a bad day, He will just wipe everyone out indiscriminately, and thus can’t be trusted or loved.
But to those who know the Scriptures, and the God of the Scriptures, there is no disconnect between being merciful and not clearing the guilty. “The Lord, the Lord God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, by no means clearing the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children and the children’s children to the third and the fourth generation.” Exodus 34:6,7.
God is an all knowing merciful judge. He does everything He can to help us pass the judgement, but He gives us free choice and if we really don’t want to live with Him forever He will not force His desires upon us. Thus to those who consistently, knowingly, willingly, rebelliously resist His love and His ways He will not clear them of the guilt, they will face the punishment. That should seem sensible to any reasonable person. Rebellion and peace cannot live together.
The owner of a home cannot allow people to continue to live within it that are constantly willfully going against the desires of the homeowner (unless of course the homeowner is co-dependent). No city, state, or country, which has just and reasonable laws, can fulfill its job to protect its lawful citizens, if it allows open rebellion against its just laws.
But what about the children? How can a three year old have sins so grievous that they deserve death? How can a loving God punish children for the iniquities of their ancestors to the third and fourth generation? That does not seem fair. Rich Abraham
Is it wrong for people who believe in God to have wealth? Some people seem to think so.
Others think that all true believers will prosper financially if they are really believing in God’s promises. Which is true? Or is there a third option?
True prosperity:
Abraham prospered in many areas of his life. He enjoyed a happy marriage for many years. He had good family ties with his father, brother, nephew, and eventually had a son. He had health, long life, friends, employees, and wealth. A pretty well rounded prosperity.
What lessons can we learn from Abraham’s life so that we can prosper to the extent that God intends for our lives?
For many just one or two adjustments is all it takes.
Rabbi Jeff Zaremsky will take us through a variety of Bible texts and show us a few things we can do according to the Word of God so that we can prosper as God desires for our individual life.

Abraham and Melchizedek
Sermon by Messianic Rabbi Jeff Zaremsky
When Abraham returns from saving his nephew Lot and the others from Sodom, Melchizedek, King of Salem, comes out to meet him with gifts.
Verses
There are only three verses in the book of Genesis concerning this encounter. About a thousand years after the meeting between Abraham and Melchizedek King David wrote one amazingly significant verse about Melchizedek. About a thousand years after that the writer of the book of Hebrews quotes that verse in the Psalms an astounding five times, and wrote the majority of three chapters on those previous four verses that mentioned Melchizedek. Obviously Melchizedek plays a bigger role than what is revealed from a surface reading of the original three verses in Genesis.

Lot was Abraham’s nephew. After Lot’s father died Lot followed Abraham from Ur to Hebron to Canaan to Egypt and back to Canaan. After all the kindness that Abraham showed to his nephew Lot allowed his herdsman to argue with Abraham’s herdsman. Being the elder and the one with the greater wealth Abraham could have settled the dispute by choosing the choicest land for himself, but instead he allowed Lot to choose. Instead of giving preference to his uncle, to whom he owed so much, he choose the best land for himself and left Abraham. No doubt this made things more difficult in some ways for Abraham.
War in Sodom
Lot choose to live near, and then later in Sodom. Sodom went to war with another nation and Lot was taken captive.
Magnanimity of Abraham: When Abraham hears about Lot’s plight he risks his own life to save one who had hurt and rejected Him. Amazing love. Abraham and Lot Break Up
Abraham & Lot were relatives, uncle & nephew. Lot’s father, Abraham’s brother, died young and Abraham became a father figure to him.
They went through many experiences and challenges together that drew them even closer together such as moving, traveling together, working together, building up wealth together, grieving together, and living through draughts, famines, and the hardships of living among potentially hostile neighbors.
Yet when they began to obtain wealth they argued to the point of splitting up. Many times that is like us.
Real enemies: We need to realize who our real enemies are, often they are not the people we are arguing with. Lot and Abram where not enemies, yet they were fighting, while the real “challenges” were dwelling in the land.
Divorces, congregational splits, and ended friendships, take place because we don’t know who the real enemies are. We often fight with those who we are closest with, yet those are not our real enemies.
Rabbi Jeff Zaremsky explains how to avoid such arguments that can lead to splits, and how to know who our real enemies are.
