With 23 years of leadership experience, Jackie Thornton is Naperville Central High School's first female principal in school history.
Following 19 years of service as Naperville Central High Schoolâs assistant principal for curriculum and instruction, Jackie took over her new role leading into the 2022-2023 school year. She also previously served as a mathematics instructional coordinator and math teacher at NCHS.
Jackie cares deeply about the Naperville Central community and is committed to maintaining its tradition of excellence, while working to ensure that Naperville Central is a school where all students feel valued and included.
Jackie Thornton is a Downers Grove native and earned her masterâs in Educational Leadership and Administration from North Central College and her bachelorâs in Mathematics from Benedictine University.

Chief Jason Arres is a 22 year veteran of the Naperville Police Department. Over the course of his decorated career, he has touched every area of the Department. This varied experience has uniquely qualified him to be an excellent leader. In our conversation, Jason shares with us what NPD is doing to keep Naperville one of the safest cities in American and his outlook on personal and professional growth.
ABOUT CHIEF ARRES
Chief of Police Jason Arres began his career at the Naperville Police Department as a patrol officer in 2001. He served as an undercover detective for the Special Enforcement Unit, a detective in the Intelligence Unit, and a member of the Departmentâs Special Response Team and the ILEAS Region 4 Weapons of Mass Destruction Team. Jason has held the positions of patrol, K-9 and administrative sergeant as well as patrol and professional standards commander. As a deputy chief, he led both the investigations and patrol divisions and oversaw Napervilleâs Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) dispatch center. He was sworn in as chief of police for the Naperville Police Department on Nov. 10, 2021.
Chief Arres holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Northern Illinois University and a Masterâs Degree in Public Safety Administration from Lewis University. He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia; the Northwestern University Center for Public Safetyâs School of Police Staff and Command; and the International Association of Chiefs of Police Leadership in Police Organizations school.

What do Traffic and Weather Together on the 8's, an inspiring Sunday Sermon, and Chicago PD/Fire TV fame have in common? Cisco Cotto!
Cisco Cotto has enjoyed a 20+ year career in Chicago radio and currently hosts the Morning News show on WBBM Newsradio 780 AM/105.9 FM. Cisco got his start as a student at Aurora Christian High School while interning with Moody Radio. He honed his on-air skills at WIUM-FM in Macomb and WBYS-AM/FM in Canton as a student at Western Illinois University. After graduating, Cisco began a career in radio in Chicago at some of the most recognizable news and talk stations in the city including WBBM Newsradio where he has been on air since 2014.
While becoming one of the most recognizable voices on the Chicago airwaves, Cisco has also pursued his calling into Christian Ministry. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Moody Bible Institute, a Master of Arts in Christian Apologetics from Talbot School of Theology, he started Village Church of Oak Park in 2011 and most recently helped launch and is serving as the Campus Pastor of Village Bible Church in Naperville.

At the end of the conflict Thi fled Vietnam for a better life at the age of 8 years old, with extend family members leaving shortly to a refugee camp in Thailand. From there her journey took her to France then eventually reuniting with her parents in Montreal at age 11. There she went on to graduate from college, work in pharmaceutical sales, marry her husband François, and start her family with young children in tow, they moved to Naperville in 2013 where Thi started dreaming about opening a restaurant that would bring authentic poutine to the area, something she searched high and low to find. But more importantly she wanted to create a business that could help support job opportunities for young people like her son François who has Autism.

Bruce Guevara is the owner and lead instructor at B1 Brazilian Jiu Jitsu & Self Defense in Naperville. Professor Bruce was raised in Chicagoland and currently holds a 1st Degree Black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu under Professor Christian "Xaropinho" Uflacker and a Judo Brown Belt under Sensei Anna Graham.
Professor Bruce has dedicated his life to growing the jiu-jitsu culture in the Midwest, bringing awareness of the Martial Art to as many people as possible. He began training and competing in 2006, while pursuing a degree in Economics from Northern Illinois University. After competing and winning many Midwest tournaments, Bruce began competing nationally in the biggest organizations in Brazilian Jiu-jitsu, such as IBJJF, ADCC, and FILA.
During a 9-year competition span, Bruce has become champion in many competitions including NAGA Expert division, ADCC Chicago, IBJJF Open and FIVE Grappling. During the FILA Grappling World Championships, Bruce finished with a silver medal.
Bruce has a growing hunger for competition and plans to continue to do so. Meanwhile, his goal is to keep developing his students with defense techniques for real-life encounters. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a self-defense Martial Art built around family & respect.

Professor Paul Sereno from the University of Chicago grew up in Naperville, IL, and it was there that he discovered his love for science and adventure. Listen to my conversation with Paul ranging from his childhood finding artifacts by the shores of the DuPage River to his many adventures all over the world.
Paul has discovered dinosaurs and other prehistoric species on 5 continents including the famous SuperCroc, a 40-foot long prehistoric crocodile. He also uncovered a 10,000 year old civilization in the middle of what is now the Sahara desert, predating the Egyptians, known as the Green Sahara.
He founded NigerHeritage, an organization dedicated to sharing the cultural and historical significance of the country and people of Niger. He also gives back locally, where he founded Scitopia Chicago, a one-of-a-kind teen learning hub and destination on Chicagoâs Southside.
