To talk about real life struggles that we go through each and every day and give my honest opinion about it all in hopes that others will feel inspired, heard, and empowered to keep teaching. The Teacher Career Coach, Daphne, is an ex-teacher from California who decided to quit the profession and help teachers who feel stuck, unhappy, and miserable find a career outside of education utilizing their strengths and skills in a different way.
In this episode, Daphne will share a little about her story and explain how scary it was for her to leave the profession, but how she took it upon herself to create content and ways to help teachers who were going through similar journeys to help them understand that it is completely realistic and doable if they felt like they needed a change!

It has been a rough few months, but honestly, lets just face it..IT HAS BEEN A ROUGH YEAR since this pandemic started. Spring Break has come and gone, and we are finally in the final stretch of our school year.
But it is important that we take time to talk about everything we've been through this past year. From the government shutting down and our entire sense of normalcy taken away, to learning how to teach while staying 6 feet away or even through a computer. There is a reason we are feeling worn out and wondering if we can keep going.

Dealing with natural disasters can be difficult for a number of different reasons. As educators, we are forced to put on a brave face for our students. However, the day after tomorrow,, we won't just miraculously forget about the anxiety and the trauma we have endured. It will be something that we have to keep hidden for the betterment of our students.
In this episode, I discuss some ideas to keep in mind as we transition back to school. I talk about how not everyone will be ready to be back at work. You will be tasked to take time to check in on those you work with and do what you can to support one another. I also encourage you to keep in mind that not everyone had the same experience as everyone else. Some may need more help than they are letting on.
Lastly, I give you personal reminders and affirmations about how you matter, how you are enough, and how you are impacting the future every single day!

“What do they not understand?!”, is something you might be telling yourself every single day. I’d love to say that work related stress is mostly due to one specific thing. However, if you have been a teacher for even a week, you know that is untrue.
We deal with unreasonable expectations, extra work duties, disrespectful students (the list could go on). Sometimes though, the biggest issue we have each and every day, is with those that we work the closest with.
What do they not understand?!
If you have ever struggled with being part of a team or department where you felt helpless or alone, or even worse you felt down right targeted or bullied, you are not alone!

In a time where teachers are working harder than ever before the term "Stop Making Excuses" is very powerful and can impact teachers in different ways.
In this episode I share a story of a friend who was told that her coworkers needed to "stop making excuses" by an administrator and my opinions on the matter.
BUT...I also challenge each and every teacher out there to "Stop Making Excuses" for not taking care of themselves and their family. Yeah I'm talking about you!

Being a public educator has gotten harder than it ever has been. We are forced to be flexible, adapt, grow, and do it all while hiding our true worries and our true feelings.
Whether we are dealing with normal, day to day stressors or figuring out how to manage teaching during a pandemic, we often feel like we don't have a voice. Even if we did, nobody would be there to listen and help us.
This is the time to take a risk and make a change. Speak truths about what you are going through, in confidence, and express things you could never express out loud without guilt or condemnation.
