Can you say Melchizedek? Jeff cannot - Dawn can. Hebrews 7:1-28 initially appears confusing, but it is actually a repeat of what the author has said in a different context repeatedly. It is an incredible SHIFT from the TEMPORAL to the PERMANENT. From Levitical priests that die and are replaced to a permanent and ever-living priest in Jesus Christ.

We are back in Hebrews, digging into 4:14-5:10. The first five minutes is one of the funniest episodes we have ever had. The rest of the podcast is so exciting and life-giving. Dig in deep with us. This is important.
In this episode, we continue working through the questions on our free resource "Perspective Questions" that is available on our website www.alethesresources.com. There is a primary element of our design that drives us toward attachement to God and others. When our perspective of God is that He is distant and attachment to Him is unattainable or must be earned then we are left with a need for attachment to others. A need for attachment to others drives us to envelope their perspectives. The impact this question, Who is God to Others?, depends on where we start the questioning (see the free resource).

The single most essential question is Who is God? Almost all people, even Christians, get this wrong because we start with our needs, desires, fears, and experiences and then manufacture a concept of God that is a reflection of those issues. This is completely backwards and ridiculous. God is Unlimited and Permanent. He is not manufactured or a response to needs, desires, fears, or experiences. He is God. Join us in our most passionate and essential topic. This is THE TOPIC.
Join our discussion on Hebrews 3:7-19. Many hear the message and desire the reward of the message and even may "know" the message, but believing the message is to integrate into the messenger and the messenger into the hearer. Belief is not a knowledge, it is a complete integration. Entering "the rest" is in the now and an abiding integration of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors toward the permanence within our Unlimited God.
We may not want to dismiss or overlook people in our ministries, but we do. It happens, often without even knowing it. Sometimes it happens because we are overwhelmed or distracted. In this episode, we talk about this issue and a shift in perspective that leads toward a ministry in which No One is dismissed. It is a structure built on a foundation that makes it possible.
Join us as we continue our exploration of Hebrews as we begin chapter 3. At a casual reading in English from our Western world perspective, these first six verses seem somewhat basic. The original readers understood this passage deeply. Join in as we try to unpack some of the remarkable depth of this passage. A hint: there are houses, households, house maintainers, and then the house builder; all are distinctly different and the joining together of it all is beautiful.
Since God spoke everything, and we mean everything, into existence and scripture tells us that the creation, including people, reflects the "shadow" of the Creator, then we must assume common observations in humanity are by His design. Joy of suffering? What? There are two basic human story lines: one of survival and one of union with the Unlimited God. If we are attempting to live out some version of the survival story, suffering is something contrary to our survival. If we are living a story line of union with the Unlimited God in His permanence, then suffering is a source of immense joy as an invitation for joining with God. This may be our favorite conversation so far on this podcast and we are grateful to those that hear this discussion.

The permanence of Jesus is essential and pivotal to everything. Join us as we continue our study in Hebrews as we discuss how the book corrects a mistaken perspective about Jesus and why this correction is so important to our perspective of God and the situations in which we experience living. Jesus is reliable and permanent; nothing else is.
God has one purpose for us: Focus on Him and join (unite) with His glory. In this episode we begin to unpack this purpose and what it means to "join" with His glory. We also begin to explore the unified nature of God (Triune God) and see the pervasive returning to a concept of union, joining, oneness, "I in You and You in Me", etc. throughout all of scripture. This is a foundational understanding of God and His purpose that few of us really grasp. Understanding this is ESSENTIAL.
The Word of God is from the Unlimited God; His speaking to us and connecting with us as a repeated invitation to join with His glory. Starting with Hebrews 1:1-4, we begin to explore scripture from the question, "How does this glorify God?". We especially loved the imagery of Jesus as the "radiance of the glory of God", but there was just so much within these first four verses. It is not surprising that the Unlimited God would breathe words that overwhelm us.
The most beautiful reality of humanity is our limitations. What? That sounds crazy and counterintuitive. How do we win if we are limited? This episode begins to answer this and pose even better questions around God's design of humans toward His pupose.
Why are we in ministry? At the risk of sounding like an actor, what's our motivation? In this honest conversation, we explore motivations for ministry and then the genuine purpose. Those are often not the same thing.
Who is God? This is the first question of any and all substance. It is not the final question; it is the first question. All other questions stem from this primary question. If we start with any other question, we get this answer wrong. Here we will begin to unpack the nature of God as Unlimited and why this is absolutely essential to our lives and ministry. This is just the beginning of this conversation.
Here we begin a journey toward a focus on the Unlimited God and leading people toward Him in His fullness as exclusively reliable and permanent. We begin the conversation toward the genuine restoration of people in intense emotional pain toward the purpose of God: focus on God and join with His unlimited glory.
