We talk about Tom Greene, 4 hour episodes, and what its like living the dream from going from a so/so hockey player, to local sports journalist, to hanging out with his hero's as an integral part of one of the worlds most influential podcast brands oh and of course we discuss the Birth of The Pink Whitney!
From a production perspective, we discuss how long it takes to turn their conversations into a show. Recorded at 11pm it has to be out by 5am! And we get into some questions submitted by Spittin' Chiclets Fans.
We also talk about how Barstool is the best place on earth to work and how he can meet all of his hockey heroes and not flinch, but when Dave Portnoy walks through the office he still has a moment!
Mike’s personal journey is a proper good one, it really is the tale of persistence and determination paying off and how he pounded the emails of anything@barstoolsports until he finally explained to my second chiclets guest he could do everything with his mobile studio, he had none of it. As Mike explains himself.. if someone asks can you do something,, you say yes!

From Blue Peter to Sky Sports and all in between Simon has been on my Telly box for nearly 20 years. Following the loss of his wife 3 years ago, Simon began a podcast dealing with a whole manner of different feats of human endurance through the most challenging of times.
He was a great person to talk to, both about his experience in broadcasting but also his life and how it's shaped him and his podcast. James O'Brien hosts the podcast "Full Disclosure" He's also a decorated and unique (in my mind) member of the talk radio fraternity. He's been part of the furniture at Global Radio, specifically LBC for nearly 20 Years.
James is super important in my own podcast journey, as he was one of the few radio show hosts who I believed was genuinely in it for seeking truth rather than inflaming listeners purely for the purpose of creating a reaction to fill air.

The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz is created by a team of outstanding professionals, piloted, inspired and motivated by Dan Le Batard. Mike and Chris (both decorated media pro's in their own right) paint a completely non sensationalist picture where by the departure from EPSN was relaxed and mutual, and the two companies worked together to make the show what it is today.
Mike and Chris obviously bask in the glow from Dan who sounds like the leader that people always dream to work with. This isn't just a sports show, its a modern day equivalent of a watercooler for sports fans of all types.
We discuss their move from ESPN, what it was like on Day 1 on their own, and how many of the team are still trying to secure their contract, some just working for the love. The guys showed me this is more like a community than a podcast.

My exposure to True Crime (until now) was traditional. Laura Richards & Delia D'Ambrose was my route in to True Crime as a genre, and I still look at their work (both their podcasts and where they operate beyond) with awe and admiration.
I preface with this because these guys do something completely different. I am in no less awe nor do I admire them less, but Morbid A True Crime Podcast is something else. They find the humour in the darkest of situations, and whilst walking you through some awful crime scenes.
For me the girls represent a really important aspirational journey in podcasting. They are organic, with no previous broadcast experience yet they've become a hot property on the PodBoard100 every week. We talk about meeting their PodCast Idols... as colleagues
Starting with a sketchy recording, a YouTube learned editing process and a fumbled upload (via Blueberry FYI) Hitting 100 Listens when it first dawned on the girls that people they DIDN'T know were listening! After 77 Episodes, The Boston Strangler episode dropped at #78 things went nuts. Audio Boom reached out then it went bonkers.
It should be credited to AudioBoom - the brief to the girls? "Keep doing what you're doing, don't change anything!"
They talk to me about their growth and their strategy! The three of us giggled our way through 80 mins of chatter with a special appearance from my dog. Honestly what more can you want?

I spoke to Mark Howard days after he’d completed his dream Podcast Interview with Surfing GOAT Kelly Slater. For this to be Howie’s Number 1 is quite a statement. He has been an ever present face in Aussie sports presenters at the highest level, world wide, for 15 years.
His Podcast “The Howie Games” Has never left the PodBoard 100 top 20 in Australia since we started compiling the chart. It is the undisputed (To be fair, it has been claimed that is was since day one. They discuss this in the episode!) Number One sports podcast in Australia.
Howie was incredibly generous with his time, and equally generous with me. We discuss all the usual aspects of making the pod, but we also have a mini brain storming session in the middle. Basically when The Howie Games Merch launches with “ACTUALLY NUMBER ONE” on it, let’s just say you heard it here first.

Tara is an investigative reporter for Politico, she's a previous White House correspondent as well as a string of other journalistic accolades across her career. We talk through the process of creating both podcasts and discuss some of stand out moments from POWER so far. She also walks us through her home setup (in her cupboard) how Sony gave her freedom to create and what production went into bringing the story to life. The episode briefly features Pancetta, Tara's dog, which is cool, because she opens Episode 1 of POWER!

Podboard100 meets Andy Lee, one half of Comedy Duo Hamish & Andy. Hamish & Andy have racked up 120 Episodes thus far of their ever popular podcast. Together they are camped out at the top 10 of the Podboard 100 at all times Andy is now host of The Cube in Australia.

Decorated Australian media personality, host of many, Marc Fennell is an all platform pro. His podcast "Stuff The British Stole" is a really interesting walk through our (as Brits) all too recent History. Marc walks us through the series highlights, the gear he uses and how he and his 6 year old built a studio in a closet!

Episode 2 and we get the chance to speak with Ben, Brett and Jordy Meiselas. Three brothers who birthed a whole new delivery system of political activism. As President Biden was sworn into office and outgoing President Trump left the White House for the last time, the boys collectively breathed a sigh of relief, but this is no means the end of MeidasTouch.
This is a movement that is going to spread across the world, a style of activism that connects with voters and influencers in a language they understand, however the guys remain ever humble in their success. I get the impression this is by no means "mission accomplished' this is mission begun.
From a podcast perspective The Meiselas Brothers have developed an independent fan base in their own right and they explain to us the journey of birthing the #meidasmighty into a team of millions who ensure the messages they create are seen all over the internet and beyond!
