I have had a very exciting past year working on this podcast and enjoyed speaking to all of my guests who were willing to share their career journeys and I am truly grateful for the opportunity to use this platform to impact knowledge. In this episode I share with you all how I have navigated all of the creative avenues I have had over the past year and the things I am doing different this year to help me reach my personal and professional goals. I look forward to your thoughts on this one as it is my most personal episode thus far.
My monthly series with Adaeze gets more interesting as we get comfortable sharing our experiences with you all. In this episode we discuss how our year has been, the different methods we adopt to plan for the year, goals we have set earlier and achieved, personal and career milestones as well as how we intend to plan for the next year. Women led SME's in Africa often face unique challenges, from lack of adequate infrastructure, funding opportunities to financial illiteracy. In this episode, Dr Ajibike a philanthropist and women's advocate details her experiences working with women in business as well as shares some of her personal trials and successes with us. This is an episode you especially do not want to miss.
There is a common concern with entrepreneurs and small business owners on how to keep track of finances as well as pricing products and services. Ibrahim Bashir and I have this conversation where he shares his wisdom and experiences as a startup incubation expert on how tackling “money” concerns as a business owner can be demystified.
Today Adaeze and I explore the topic of mental health and how social media can have an impact on our thoughts and behaviours. We share our different perspectives on how to unplug and reset as well as how to curate our experiences as we filter through the overwhelming information that is out there through various channels.
Women often are put in positions where they have to constantly prove themselves in the workplace by overcoming certain stereotypes attributed to them. In this episode I sit with Dr Adaeze Oreh, a medical practitioner and advocate for change and women in the workplace. We explore certain myths attributed to barriers for success when it comes to women and also share ideas on how to move the conversation forward as we recognise the power that women poses and the assets they are to any productive organisation and workplace they find themselves in.
On this first episode of the season, I sit with Nafisa Amadu Abdulmalik who is a working mom and wife that has made great strides in building a successful career and catering business. She is a published author of her book titles 'Diary of a Muslimah' where she chronicles the challenges that come with being a woman, a Nigerian woman and a muslim woman trying to build a life in todays world. I enjoyed our conversation and I am sure you will too.
I am Dr Nuratu a Career Strategist and Coach and I am truly grateful to have been on this journey with you all. When I first started this podcast I was full of mixed emotions, from apprehension to excitement and fear. A few years ago I could have never dreamed of doing this as it would have felt like I was putting myself out there to be judged negatively but through the years I have found how to use my voice to effect change and grow my career to the point where I feel confident to create a platform that I can share my experiences good and bad with you all so we can all learn from one another.
The journey to success in any career is mapped out by the sum of our passions, experiences, challenges, failures and how we navigate those spaces to tangible and meaningful results. In this episode I discuss with Hauwa Abbas on her experiences around advocacy, leadership, coaching and the balancing act that comes with those activities. The discussion is very relatable to leadership in all works of life.
In this episode Adé Adeniji and Dr Nuratu discuss the many ways Emotional Intelligence can be applied in the workplace especially in practicing intentional behaviour modelling by leadership and the complexities of bringing ones whole self to work and managing professional relationships. The topic of Social anxiety and ways and practices that can help with recognising the triggers to anxiety and managing the feelings they come with was also explored.
