The more flaws people find in my lines of thought, the more there is to learn, to explore, to think about, to read about.
Perfect work will never be criticised.
Perfect work will (also) never move people.
Do we really want to create perfection?
Or, do we want to create things which engage people to come together in this collaborative effect of a multiplicative thought?

Characters are remembered over plot. Let's take one such character from the critically acclaimed Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy. Mr. Darcy is often cited as one of the best, male romantic leads written, ever. This young, handsome, rich and honest guy struggles with prejudice and has truckloads of pride. Yet somehow, people fawn over him. Why? Why has Fitzwilliam Darcy (that's his actual first name) stood the test of time and morality where many have failed? We have theories.

If the plot and the characters already exist, all you need is POV, who is telling the story, what time it is placed in and how long/short it is.
Today, I have Nada Abdelhadi, MS with me to illustrate this point. For instance: She'll discuss a manga and I will discuss an anime. These two were highly grossing works of art in their respective genre simply because both explored unfamiliar (to the region) mythology and made it accessible to the audience.

Mythological stories literally stood the test of time. This live isn't about mythology though. It is about fiction.
Many writers, modern writers took history and mythology that exists. Many of these stories are popular. Whether it is Circe, Achilles or Lord Shiva, people know these stories already. What more can be done here?
Well, three examples of what was done:

Analyzing the social and mental toll of being a deity (and a child of one).

Heroes are so much more than the stories of their heroism.

The process of deification.
Learn from the masters. I cried a lot while reading the Song of Achilles. Why would a pro-peace person cry for someone whose name is synonymous with war? Storytelling!

This book is one of those books that primarily shows up on every successful person's reading list. The hype is real. ::rolls eyes and gets transported to the astral realm::
I picked this book up because why not!
It been an experience.

I will not do a chapter by chapter summary with this one. I want you to read this book in full; no shortcuts.
Trolling isn't a black and white issue. It is a canister of greys. So, I am breaking the topic in chunks; multiple people, multiple perspectives, multiple viewpoints.
Irrespective of what people might have you believe, trolling isn't new. 'It' has been a part of the social fabric for years. It was just not labeled as trolling.
Trolling, from an etymological standpoint is hard to trace. For instance, looking for MiGs was labeled as trolling for MiGs in the early 1990s. These days, trolling covers a wide range of public internet behavior. With this live, we plan to discuss the social aspect of trolling.

Technology has existed as long as humans have. It is neither the panacea to solve all of mankind's problems nor is it the the bane of human existence. It is simply a means to an end.
From times immemorial, mankind has resisted technological advancements. Maybe it is because change is hard; maybe it is because of some other ideological reasons. Almost always, technology somehow always gets appreciated, then written off as the worst thing ever, followed by further advancement... like a tool that gets sharpened, then dulled by usage.

I thought out loud: In the horror genre, the scariest movies and books have the least amount of violence.
An actual writer of horror, Chris Angelis, responded with this lovely nugget: The reason for the phenomenon is how true horror is a result of our being unable to properly define reality. Whether our inability is a result of clearly supernatural elements or of ambiguity, the end result is the same-you come face-to-face with something that is incompatible with the reality you’re familiar with. The familiar becomes unfamiliar and you either can’t trust your senses, or you must accept that the laws of nature are changed. The reason we’re more afraid of nonviolent horror stories is because violence we can make sense of; nonrealism, we can’t. The reason is that we face the prospect of being unable to define our reality—who’s human and who isn’t, in this case.
This. Is. Just. Amazing!

I have this habit of taking notes.
It does two things:

You have a reminder of something you read/heard/saw.
-
You think before you note so... you get to check your knowledge about this thing you made a note about.
This is how I do it. I have multiple notebooks that run simultaneously to streamline the process without a break in connectivity.
