Hello again tribe and welcome to season 5 of Poz Vibe Podcast.
In this episode we talked to the director of new film ‘Pregnant with a Drag Queen' Colin Brady and Adrian Duggan (a former guest on this pod) who plays a young Veda in the docu-drama. The film tells the story of one Enda Mc Grattan a.k.a our leader Veda Lady, as a queer person growing up in 1990’s Dublin.
The project, a winner of Virgin Media Discovers competition, in partnership with Fís Éireann/Screen Ireland is produced by Taller Stories. It premieres at the Dublin International Film Festival this month and will be broadcast on Virgin Media One on Tuesday, February 27th at 11pm. We can't wait to watch!

It's World Aids Day - may the Power of Poz be with you!
We are so happy to have a very special guest joining us this week - the icon and musical legend that is Holly Johnson! He was performing at the National Concert Hall but Veda managed to sit down with his old friend to talk about Holly's experience of living with H.I.V. He shares what it was like in the 80s when friends were starting to get diagnosed, what it's like getting older with H.I.V and of course, the power of love!

We had a gorgeous chat this week with Donagh O'Malley who talked about his experience of living with HIV. Donagh shared what it was like telling his mum about his status and the joy of adopting his young son. He returned to live in Ireland in early 2022, after 28 years living away and works for himself in the music industry. He has established a gorgeous new life and routine here with his son, dog and cat near Portobello in Dublin.

This week, we met with Robbie Wilson, a former cardiac nurse from Tasmania who has been living with HIV for 38 yrs. Currently, he is involved with the Bobby Goldsmith Foundation and is also an Encali care giver.
In this episode, Robbie shared his experience of being an older queer man, aging with a chronic illness. He also talked about psychosocial health and the importance of maintaining relationships and holding onto hope.

Alas, this is the final episode for this series but never fear, we'll be back very soon (we share some great news about our return in this ep!).
Before we take our teeny break however, we made this episode, all about How to Tell A Secret, the documentary film Veda and Robbie took part in. The film looks at social stigma and the art of telling your story and goes on limited release in select Irish cinemas from Thursday, the 1st of December which is also World AIDS Day 2022. To celebrate, we are so lucky to be joined by the films directors Anna Rodgers and Shaun Dunne plus actor Eva Jane Gaffney who is one of the performers portraying the hidden stories of women who are living with HIV.

Cherrie bravely shared her story of discovery and disclosure with us plus we even got her to sing a little. Also joining us this week is activist and founder of EugenesLab.com, Eugene Lynch. Eugene is Senior Positive Voices Coordinator at the Terrence Higgins Trust in London. The Positive Voices programme provides talks for a variety of organisations, such as schools, colleges, companies, public sector organisations and healthcare providers led by volunteers who are living with HIV. But his work doesn’t stop there. He has also created new "La!" special edition scented candles to help raise money for the Terrence Higgins Trust to support people living with HIV and to end HIV stigma.
