Poetry is an exceptional arm of literature. A perfectly crafted poem can lift one's spirit from the pits of depression, capture the essence of a sunrise, reenact a sunset without painted lines, flood flirtatious rhymes into a crush's eyes or place a stillness and calm on overcrowded minds.
However, Poetry's beauty is unique to the poet's ability, experience, and versatility. Some poets may write sonnets in mere seconds whilst others may dance in a rhyme an hour at a time with no sight of stopping in the next line. Then there's me, who simply Platt's his poetry.
In today's episode of Platt's Portrait, we have some fun with words as always, we discuss poetry, and we have a small storytime in the style of a short story.

For Women's History Month, I am challenging you, to read a book by a woman writer, or listen to some of their poetry; it can't hurt.
January was a month filled with much to celebrate, it was a story that could go on for hundreds of pages, but my favorite part of January was playing cupid, and crafting love letters and poems about people I had never met. From twinkling stars to perfect pleasures, welcome to the month of Love.

We also spent some time exploring the word of the day segment and how it came to be, overall, like last time, this episode is rather protracted, I hope you do not feel jaded and instead find joy in today's episode.

The problem with being a hopeless romantic is not in the fact of falling in love. It is in the fact of falling out of love. We fall so deeply in love, to escape from it, to move on - for some of us takes long hours of contemplation, hours of pain, maybe even years. There is great pain in someone breaking your heart, but more often than not, the hopeless romantics to save themselves from the love they have for someone else must break their own heart. And while one might argue that breaking your own heart is better than having it broken, I warn that it is still a most agonizing experience that requires steady slow hands along the wrist as you cut the web of love away. And then, once you’ve freed yourself, once the pain is gone, you end up thinking about them every day for a while wondering what could have been. And then magically one day, be it a miracle you fall in love again and life becomes oh so simple as it must be. And it’s when you believe the miracle exists but have no hope that it will come that you assume the role of a truly hopeless, romantic.

In today's episode, we are all over the place as usual. First, we start off working with an examination of a new word. The word of the day segment will continue, but for now, I want us to remember that Love and Chemistry are Enigmatic but in the end they are beautiful. But, on a serious level, today's episode's main objective is to introduce our first poetry challenge of 2023, The Colours of Love inspired by Billy Ocean's Song the colours of love. In this episode, we go over the thought process behind the creation of the poem Red, through the use of metaphors! If we remember, from a different time, we have done the colour series before, and it was a fun time, and I hope it is once again fun. Red symbolises Action, Strength, Energy and Passion. But what does that mean from a poetic point of view? Listen and find out.

In this episode of Platt's Portrait, we spend some time looking into the origins of the word Tomorrow, and how it all started with the morrow. We discuss the interesting nature of language and how it is ever-changing in contrast to the ever-constant, ever-present facts of science, of water being water for years. Then we shift our focus to the main points of the episode Vision Boards. We discuss briefly matters of what is a vision board, how to use them, why we use them, and their benefits. Then we shift our focus to the portrait side of things and talk about my vision for 2023, which in the end is to have enjoyed the moment.

Last Year we released our first Poetry book, and this fun little episode of Platt's Portrait is just to give some story times as it relates to our writing process. As always, I take nothing seriously in this episode, and its mostly giggles, but with serious lessons within.

Today is the final episode of season 2 of our lovely series here known as Platt's Portrait where we primarily focused on the behind-the-scenes of Platt's poetry. I recorded a long one-hour final episode that dealt with the concept of communication in the modern era. When I finished recording the episode and sat back to think about it, I was overwhelmed by a desire to not post it, to keep the contents of the recording a secret. Of course, I know why my mind has chosen this action but, you may be more confused than I am. Simply put, I have written all I had to say in today's episode and I have posted the poems. These three short beautiful poems express exactly what is going on within the world of platt and why these last few episodes have been so uncouth. I am, in a sense, keeping a secret from you all by locking away my voice, but sometimes things are better left on the page. Sometimes you don't need to say anything, you just need to watch, listen and observe. As a writer, I choose to communicate through words written on a page that can never speak back to me, and I cast my most vulnerable thoughts into the world for all to see. I do this without shame, worry or hesitation. If I were to be asked to do the same thing, in front of people, without pages, I would not freeze, I would adapt and move forward as if all is fine, whilst deep down experiencing extreme discomfort. It is important, that humans in their search for effective communication, communicate in ways that make them feel comfortable, or the messages being sent will come off poorly and lead to silence among friends that may last as long as forever because one thinks all is well, and the other is to hurt to speak. Be it writing or speaking, texting or chatting, one thing is certain in life, words are powerful. There is an old saying about how sticks and stones may break bones but words can never hurt me. I think this statement is utter rubbish. Sticks and stones may break bones but broken things can be healed, words leave scars along the heart and scars never leave us. Ramble aside, if you wanna know more about me this week, just read the poems, if you came here for long-winded chatter, this is not it. I do apologize.
Secondly, If you have the time, write us a poem about your summer and send it in the comments or to us. We really wanna know. My summer poem would go something like this, the ups were high but the lows went to hell, while in bliss, I got comfortable and lost sight of the pendulum, that swung towards me in vengeance, once a happy season, of love and joy, now drenched in the sorrow of one moment, my mind so obsessive it cannot forget, I welcome autum not with a pep in my step, not with an eager heart, not with an open or closed mind but with silence. The silence of this world shall embrace me, as I try to pull myself out of a single moment of misery, so that I may see the beauty of life's masterful tapestry.

In a world of modern design where our loved ones are mere seconds away through social media apps and the simple call; the love letter may seem to be an ancient way to express one's love for someone else. But this is precisely why it is a most beautiful, just, and correct way to express how you feel about someone. It is unique, it is tangible and it is a complete reflection of not the person you write for but you the writer of the love letter.

There have been many changes in the structure and operations of Platt's Poetry since the beginning of our poetic year in January this year. All the changes made have so far helped us to achieve our goal this year of male-specific poetry and excellence. We have completed many poetry challenges, done many special species, and continue to weave a story of the heart, mind, and spirit 7 months into the year. While it is good to big up all these achievements and changes in the operations of our corner of the internet-we believe it is important that you are aware of the reasons behind these various changes.

This, the last poem of poetry week speaks to the actual theme of poetry week this year. Letting go. We must let go eventually, or we risk dying. We believe it is time to let go and move forward with life, and like trees, know well no matter the season we find ourselves in, we are still alive.
Zenful Twins is actually two poems in one, these poems are about the same person. Zendaya has been a crush of ours for years now, and I got jealous that people could draw her, so I took two of my favorite outfits and wrote a poem describing the scene of it all as my way of drawing her.
The Poem that dances before you today is about the color Black. Black needs no introduction, or summary, you should know who they are.
The Coloured section of the poetry collection, aimed to paint a picture using the colour selected. The colour on display today is Red, and we decided that the best way to approach the vibrant themes derived from the colour would be through a narrative poem. The poem tells a story about war, but it has nothing to do with the battlefield, but rather the recovery of a great spartan general who, as he laid in the den healing from his wounds, watched as many died, and through this experience changes his view on why and how he fights his battles. Showing ultimately, the harsh vicious side of red, but also the side of reason and growth.
Enough poems about Cupid's meddling, we turn now to the second section of the book, A Themed Waltz. This section is the shortest in the book and focuses on 6 themes that relate directly to modern reality. Nothing is more relatable to the current state of climate change. While Climate change is not a modern problem, it is a problem that most affects modern society and the future of the human race. This poem paints the effects of climate change on the world in a manner to evoke fear and a need for change, however unlikely.
There are many ways to describe women, comparing them to nature and its creatures is often the most effective way to evoke the eloquent images that many poets seek. However, birds are much more complex than the beauty they bring to the world. At first glance, one would think the poet is speaking to the physical features of a woman, how they remind him of the beauty of birds. But, the poet is also taking the time to describe her personality using the birds. The hummingbird is bold and confident, the mockingbird is caring and blissful, the Hawlk is dominant and powerful, and the western parotia does that dance for the woman he thinks is most worth the effort. The poet is speaking to the woman's beauty, but, he comments not only on her physical beauty but the excellence that is her personality.
This is a reading of the first poem in A Poetic Dance, and it is the first poem of poetry week. This is a beautiful poem about wanting to say more to a woman than "you are beautiful." The poet takes his time to explain to the woman of interest, that she is indeed beautiful but he can not write a poem about her beauty without first knowing who she is. The poet masks the true tragedy of the poem behind his colorful language, blossoming imagery, and paradoxical exuberances.

In today’s episode, we’ll be looking at some poems from my first poetry week back in 2020, that I held on my social media platforms to distract myself from the coming holidays. The book is titled off of the last poem within it, the poem is written using rhymes and rhythms as if a song and well I just decided to play on the beat of the poem and call it Poetic Dancehall. The book has 8 poems because I counted Sunday twice; they are not of specific themes, but they are beautiful to me and I hope you enjoy them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

In today’s episode, we’re going to be entering the beautiful world of Colours. Though I am a poet, I do find joy in paintings, especially those bedazzled in color. My favorite colours are blue and purple. Purple is my favorite colour only because it was my mother’s favorites and it reminds me of her. Blue, however, is by far the superior colour!
