Widely respected as a mission-driven leader and coalition builder, Kathleen Enright joined the Council as President and CEO in 2019. Before the start of Stateside Brands, Clement was CEO of Clement Pappas & Co., a leading national supplier of private brand juices. The company was founded in 1942 by his grandfather Clement, a hardworking U.S. immigrant who exemplified the American Dream. Growing up, the business played a central part in Clement's life, and he later worked in an executive capacity for the company for 15 years. Clement led the sale of the business to Lassonde Industries in 2011 and served as CEO until his exit in 2014. Before Clement Pappas & Co. he worked for Arthur Andersen Business Consulting in New York. Clement was also honored as Ernst & Young’s 2023 Regional Entrepreneur of the Year for his leadership with Stateside Brands.
Clement and his wife Lauren reside in Haddonfield, NJ with their two sons, Paul and Joseph. After tragically losing their premature son Peter in 2015, Clement and Lauren founded the Peter Joseph Pappas Fund with a mission to cure preeclampsia by 2050. Clement is a Henry Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute, a member of the Young Presidents’ Organization, and has served on numerouscharitable and corporate boards. He earned his BSE from Duke University cum laude and MBA from The Wharton School, where he was designated a Palmer Scholar.

Sonja Thoms played oboe in the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra, and earned a bachelor’s degree at Eastman School of Music and a master’s degree in oboe performance at Rice University. She performed as an oboist with the Lucerne Academy Orchestra, National Repertory Orchestra, New World Symphony, and the Alarm Will Sound new music ensemble. Thoms moved into orchestra operations through an internship with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center. In 2006, she started working in operations for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and in 2015 Thoms moved to the Nashville Symphony to lead the operations department. Some of her projects at the Nashville Symphony include the annual Summer Community Concert Series, the Violins of Hope Project, hosting the League of American Orchestras’ 2019 National Conference, and supporting the orchestra’s return to the stage after pandemic shutdowns. In 2019, Thoms created OrchestraCareer.com, an online mentoring service that provides a bridge for young people from college to careers at orchestras. She has been instrumental in creating the first-ever student content at League Conferences.

Denise Woodard is the Founder and CEO of Partake Foods, the allergy-friendly company that was inspired by her daughter’s experience with food allergies. Key moments this year include that Partake Foods announced it became a Certified B Corporation, and launched a collab with Ben & Jerry’s! Created in 2016, Denise started the business by self-distributing (selling cookies out of her car around NYC) and self-funding (depleting her 401K and selling her engagement ring). To date, the company has raised more than $20M from investors including HER, Rihanna, Circle Up Growth Partners, FF2032 and Marcy Venture Partners (Jay-Z’s venture capital firm). Partake was named #45 on the Inc 5000 list in 2022. Denise was the first Black woman to raise more than $1 Million publicly for a CPG food startup. Long Bio - Jason Johnson has a passion for Police K-9 and he has dedicated his life to working, training, and taking care of them. Jason believes that Police K-9s perform selflessly for the departments and agencies they work for, and once they retire, are not offered that same respect by those they serve. He planned, developed, and was the Lead Instructor for Explosive Detection Courses to a variety of domestic and international federal agents, law enforcement, and U.S. Military. He trained, instructed and certified students in multiple federal agencies such as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, U.S. Marshals Service, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Central Intelligence Agency, National Geospatial Intelligence Agency, Department of Homeland Security/Federal Emergency Management Agency and many other state and local departments, working specifically in explosives detection. He worked with the Military Working Dog (MWD) program, providing Home-Made Explosives training to over 1,000 MWD’s prior to their deployment to high-threat areas such as Iraq and Afghanistan. He was also involved in developing and instructing the agency’s first off-leash detection program, SEEK (Search Enhanced Evidence K-9), and the agency’s first SRT (Special Response Team) dual purpose patrol/explosives detection canine. He instructed explosive detection canine courses for the U.S. Department of State’s Anti-Terrorism Assistance Program, which served over twenty-one countries. Jason was the 2011 recipient of the Johnny A. Masengale Memorial Award, which is given out nationally to those who made outstanding contributions in the explosives field. Prior to working for the ATF, Jason served as an Explosive Detection K-9 Handler, Trainer, Kennel Master and Protective Security Specialist for the U.S. Department of State in support of the Worldwide Personal Protection Services contract with U.S. Diplomatic Security throughout Iraq and Afghanistan. He was assigned as one of the primary explosive detection handlers to the U.S. Ambassador and the Regional Security Officer at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul, and was the lead K-9 handler used in the 2009 Afghanistan Presidential Elections. He was the lead K-9 handler used in the 2008 Iraqi elections for south central Iraq, providing explosive detection sweeps for the U.S. Department of State, the Central Intelligence Agency, and the U.S. Department of Defense along with various other governmental agencies and programs. Jason also served as a Police Officer for the City of Yakima, WA, and the City of Puyallup, WA. During that time, he specialized as a K-9 Handler and K-9 Trainer with the Washington State Police Canine Association. His additional duties included being a member of the SWAT Team, a Defensive Tactics Instructor, a Field Training Officer, and the Officer in Charge of the Honor Guard. Jason honorably served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer, where he received numerous awards and recognition throughout his assignments for his service. Jason holds a Master’s of Science and a Bachelor’s of Science from Bellevue University in Security Management. He has served as an adjunct professor at Henley-Putnam University, teaching a Master’s program in Advanced Executive Protection. Jason is an accomplished author and has contributed chapters for two separate University textbooks, used for teaching at the Master’s level in Strategic Security. He was published in both K-9 Cop and Police K-9 magazines with featured articles. Jason has also published his own children’s book about his inspiration to start this organization, titled “K-9 Flash Becomes A Hero.” K-9 Flash was named the 2018 Law Enforcement Dog of the Year in the country by American Humane. Jason actively works with Congress to see that his vision of the K-9 Hero Act, HR #5081, gets passed as a law to bring a positive change to the K-9 Community for generations to follow.

Annmarie O’Grady began her role as Executive Director for A Special Wish Foundation – Ohio Valley Chapter in January 2021. She served on the Board of Directors for A Special Wish four years prior to becoming the director.
She has a great deal of experience working with children. O’Grady was previously the Project Manager at The University of Akron (UA) for the Ohio Valley region for five years. In this role, she worked with area high schools and their students in the College Credit Plus program. She also managed the Surveying and Mapping program for Akron on the campus of Belmont College so students could obtain their bachelor’s degree to become a Professional Surveyor.
Prior to her education career, she spent years in Government Relations as a Legislative Aide in Washington, D.C. for then-Congressman Bob Ney. She also worked as the Director of Government Relations at the Greater El Paso Chamber of Commerce in El Paso, TX.
Annmarie is very involved in her community. She proudly serves on the Board of Directors for the Belmont County Port Authority, is a fellow Rotarian and board member of the Rotary of St. Clairsville and is the Vice President of the Red Devil Club at St. Clairsville High School.

Jim Scheetz is the chairman, CEO and president of SmartMouth Oral Health Laboratories, a leading innovator in the fight against bad breath through a patented zinc-ion-activated technology designed to eliminate the root cause of bad breath: sulfur gas.

After graduating West Liberty University in 1978 with a degree in biology, Brian Joseph attended The Ohio State University studying biophysics in the microbiology department for one year. Brian moved back to Wheeling in 1980 to own research and development business – Touchstone Research Laboratory, Ltd. It has grown to 4 buildings and over two acres of laboratories and prototype manufacturing space. Brian has been granted over 20 patents, with many more in process and his company has produced an average of a patent application per month for ten years. Touchstone has developed new automotive aluminum alloys, new steel products, invented a foam made from coal – CFOAM, developed a fiber reinforced aluminum material, new ways to build carbon fiber airplane parts and new ways to grow algae on large scale. In addition Touchstone has solved thousands of manufacturing problems and currently is helping to qualify parts for jet engines, wind turbines and next-generation rockets. Outside of his business activities, Brian has served as Chairman of the Board of Governors West Liberty University, 3 of the past 4 years and serves on the board of the JB Chambers Foundation. Prior to forming Jet It, Glenn provided transportation solutions as the Regional Sales Manager for the Eastern United States for Honda Aircraft Company. In this role, Glenn developed and executed a sales, communication, marketing business plan, and strategy to sell Honda’s first venture into aviation, the $5M+ HondaJet.
Preceding his efforts with Honda Aircraft Company, Glenn performed a sales support role as an International Demonstration Captain for Gulfstream Aerospace Company. Glenn began his career in the USAF as a T-38A Instructor Pilot and his military career culminated as an F-15C Flight Commander and 4-Ship Flight Lead. Glenn also participated as an active member of the US Embassy Kyrgyz Republic Country Team while deployed during OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM.
Mr. Gonzales has MBA from the Darla Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina, and a Masters in Aeronautical Sciences from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He completed his undergraduate studies at the United States Air Force Academy earning a B.S. degree in Behavioral Sciences with a concentration in Human Factors Engineering.
In the community, Gonzales has served as a spokesman for Make a Wish, founded a military
community outreach organization, The 71st Fighter Squadron Iron Foundation, and served as Program Coordinator for Special Olympics Area 22 regional competition. He has spoken at countless universities, corporations, primary schools and community organizations sharing his career experiences, and the business of private aviation.
Mr. Gonzales is a Lieutenant Colonel in the USAF Reserves, and is married to his wife of 15 years, the former Tanika Archer. Their two daughters, Kearston and Kendall are classically trained musicians who have performed as a violin and cello duo for numerous private, philanthropic, community, political, and government events throughout the United States, Europe, and Australia.

ANN M. PALMER President & Chief Executive Officer Ann Palmer, currently the President and CEO of the Arthritis Foundation, understands how living with a chronic disease affects the entire family. Empowering people, their family and friends, and their community to live their best life despite their disease is Ann’s passion.
Ann has held executive leadership positions with the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She has led organizational redesign initiatives to create successful models for effective mission delivery.
Throughout her career, Ann has successfully inspired volunteers to exceed fundraising goals, raising $100 million in major gifts, and doubling special events revenue during her time at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She is known for being an industry leader who makes sound business decisions based on the latest trends and data and for delivering programmatic impact that meets the needs of communities large and small across the country and internationally. She has partnered with leaders in Spain and China to establish new and viable osteoarthritis organizations and with other international leaders to grow and transform their organizations.
Ann values teamwork and collaboration. She excels at leading large and diverse teams to deliver results, thinking big, and always leading with a mission. She has guided organizations through extensive organizational redesigns resulting in significant fiscal savings while creating scalable delivery models enabling greater reach and impact to people and communities in need.
Ann has always been a volunteer herself, serving as PTA president and board member for many years, and she also continues to be active in community groups like Jaycees and the Chamber of Commerce. She is a frequent guest speaker for policy groups and is recognized as a successful leader for patient advocacy groups. She currently serves as the President of the National Health Council.
Family is important to Ann, a mother of three grown children. She lives in Florida with her husband Gary and their dog Charlie. She enjoys entertaining, gardening, painting, and maintaining her large dollhouse.
With more than 30 years of experience within the voluntary health space, Ann has revolutionized the organization’s approach, structure and focus to deliver the greatest impact in the lives of those with arthritis. Since joining the Arthritis Foundation in 2013, Ann has established the organization’s four pillar areas, introduced an annual planning process to identify and measure priority outcomes and successfully implemented a consolidated structure.
With a BS in education from the University of Delaware, Ann has a strong background at three large voluntary health organizations: the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association and the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Beginning her career with the American Cancer Society in 1979, she held numerous roles of increasing responsibility over 18 years. In 1997, she joined the American Diabetes Association to oversee increased fundraising for their Mid Atlantic region and led a nationwide operational restructuring that increased efficiency. During her 12 years at the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Ann’s leadership brought new business systems and a great team of staff and volunteers who annually raised a net income of more than $100 million.
Ann is the immediate past chair of the board of directors of the National Health Council, which consists of voluntary health agencies committed to helping people with chronic diseases and disabilities and their caregivers. She’s also recognized as one of the 100 most influential leaders in the health care industry by the Atlanta Business Chronicle. Ann is passionate about her work as the Foundation’s leader: “I am truly inspired by the dedication of our volunteers and the courage and perseverance of people with arthritis and their families.
