SPLENDEUR Magazine founder, Lydia Summer, is here to open up a space for men and women to share their testimonies in order that you may know how to be "dressed in splendeur" like the wildflowers of the field (Luke 12:27). God calls us not to worry about tomorrow, but, rather, to say yes to Him for whatever He may have for you each day. As you listen to these testimonies, Lydia prays that they will help you remove any anxiety or need to spin after what God has for you, and to always trust in your Creator to grow you, just as He does with the beautiful wildflowers.
This week, we have first time author, David Sunde on the show! Our host, Lydia Summer sits down with David to talk about his debut book, Small-Batch Disciplemaking, and how we can learn to make disciples like Jesus did when we walked and lived life with His disciples here on earth. David talks about the different rhythms we can incorporate in discipleship, or as he likes to say "apprenticeship", and we believe this episode has come at the perfect timing during this climate of election year, where we ought to strive to unify the Church more despite our differences, rather than stay divided.
We hope you will be encouraged by Lydia and David's conversation and if you think someone else will be encouraged by this conversation, please share. Please consider ordering David's book! All information is below.

This week, we have the extreme privilege of interviewing the "Deborah Woman" from our current Spring Issue of SPLENDEUR Magazine, Marla Jo Hollis. Each issue, SPLENDEUR highlights a woman who exemplifies traits of a godly, bold woman of faith, and Marla was a clear choice to feature!
Marla is a woman with many hats, but it all comes down to following God's calling on her life through how He made her. She and our host, Lydia Summer, discuss a lot about what it means to be uniquely YOU, and how God never mistakes when He created His image-bearing children. What we might discount as "insignificant" or "unimportant", God says that with every detail He created you to be and look like, it matters.
We hope you will be encouraged by Marla's testimony, and if you want to learn and read more, order our spring issue today! If you think someone else will be encouraged by this conversation, please share.

Welcome back to another episode of Dressed in Splendeur!
It's been a little quiet lately on the pod, but we are back with quite a doozy of an episode to bring us back to the rhythms of sharing episodes that will encourage you to learn how be dressed in grander splendor than the wildflowers of the field (Luke 12:27).
This week we have singer/songwriter, McKenna Parr, joining us to talk about her unique experience of having been married and divorced within less than a year. She shares about the shame she felt when she couldn't have her ex agree with her to stay with her, the questions she had about divorce in accordance with God's Word, and the healing God gave her throughout the trials of everything she endured through this season.
May you be encouraged through her testimony and find healing through this conversation. If you think that someone will be blessed by this episode, please share! We hope this podcast will continue to help you learn how to be dressed in grander splendeur than the beautiful wildflowers of the field.

Merry Christmas everyone!
This week we have the wonderful Bookstagram influencer, Cicely V Ford, on the show! Cicely, or Cici to her friends, shares about her journey in organically creating a 50k+ followers Instagram account where she promoted her favorite books; how she grew closer in her relationship with Jesus; and how, in doing so, her focus on her Instagram page turned more into a place where she shared her faith and encouraged people with every word she writes. Even though she lost tens of thousands of followers due to the change in how Instagram operates and because she began sharing more about her Bible studies, Cici tells us how it's all worth it, as long as she never compromises her faith in the process.
Cici shares some wonderful advice for those who have a desire to be an influencer and/or how to encourage people with their following, and she and our host, Lydia Summer, have a great dialogue about the negatives and positives that come with social media.
May you be encouraged through her testimony, and if you think that someone will be blessed by this conversation, please share! We hope this conversation will continue to help you learn how to be dressed in grander splendeur than the beautiful wildflowers of the field.

This week, Lydia Summer sits down with painter and all-around creative, Leah Stugan. Leah has been honing in her painting skills over the course of her life and she uses her talent to worship God and encourage the masses through live painting. As a recent Nasvhille transplant from Arizona, Leah hopes to continue to bring her live painting to different events around the city in hopes to share more of the heart of God with others. Leah shares how she went from having a self-interested to a Christ-serving desire to paint, how God instructed her to fulfill a dream placed on her heart, and she shares some wonderful advice for our listeners through the lens of the Bible's narrative of Martha and Mary.
May you be encouraged through her testimony, and if you think that someone will be blessed by this conversation, please share! We hope this conversation will continue to help you learn how to be dressed in grander splendeur than the beautiful wildflowers of the field.

Cortney Smith, a registered dietician an owner of Sage, comes on the show to talk about how her desire to make healthy treats for her and her family turned into a business. She shares how and why Sage started, why she sold her treats recipes to another, her vision for Sage moving forward, and how she and her husband desire to always partner with God in everything they do. She shares some wonderful healthy eating advice, as well as how you can also partner with God for the plans He has for your life.

We are back from our short hiatus and we hope you're ready for some exciting conversations to come! Starting with the wonderful Meggan Wood, founder of Lily Jade.
Our host, Lydia Summer, sits down with Meggan and chats about how the Lord orchestrated for her and her husband to take a huge risk and start a new business which would help bring beauty and functionality to diaper bags. What was thought of as a part-time gig when they first started to the internationally known business it is today, Meggan never expected for this calling to grow so much in the way that it did.
Lily Jade has been able to partner with amazing organizations and has donated so much to women in need, and it was an absolute joy to have Meggan join our show today. May you be encouraged through her testimony, and if you think that someone will be blessed by this conversation, please share! Filled with magic, wonder, loyal friendships, quests, monsters, and so much more, this is the perfect book for our friends who love to read YA Fantasy books!
Katie has been writing and creating worlds for many years, and she always makes sure to incorporate her faith in some fashion within her writings. She shares some great encouraging words as well for those who desire to follow a similar path to her own.

Who here has ever felt shame when attending a purity conference? Or felt embarrassed ever talking about sex, no matter who the conversation is with?
This week we have the author of Talking Back to Purity Culture, Rachel Joy Welcher to discuss just how toxic and unbiblical the purity culture movement was when it first started. Rachel and our host, Lydia Summer, discuss how this movement put a lot of pressure on women to make sure not to cause their Christian brothers to stumble, the harmful nature in which men and women feel shame in regards to their sexuality, what biblical purity actually looks like according to God, and how we can love those who are SSA and how to include them in conversations when it comes to purity in the Church.
That, and a whole lot more, is coming up in this episode! We hope you'll find encouragement through Rachel and Lydia's conversation. Share this with someone you think might also be blessed by this episode.

Courtney sits down with host, Lydia Summer, to share her new life testimony in Christ and opens up about how letting go of control is always something she will wrestle with in laying down at the foot of the cross. She shares how her career path has changed, but she has peace knowing that she is exactly where she should be, and also talks about how the Lord has been revealing to her that she is a teacher. Courtney and Lydia also discuss the meaning behind "A Cuppa With Jesus" and how this devotional feature differs from our new upcoming "Ekklesia" feature.

We are continuing our New Life series with SPLENDEUR Magazine's with our newest addition to our team, Lizzy Blanchard, who will be the writer for our new feature coming next fiscal year: the Ekklesia feaure!
Lizzy is a native to the Peoria, Illinois area, and that's where our host, Lydia Summer, met her! Lydia knew almost right away that Lizzy would be a great additional team member for SPLENDEUR, and we think that, as you listen to Lizzy's testimony on the podcast today, you'll see why. Lizzy shares her testimony of how she came to know Christ at a young age and encourages anyone with a similar testimony to not look down on that, but to see it as a beautiful gift from God. Lizzy also shares a little bit about how she clung on to God during one of the hardest trials she's ever gone through, and her passion for God's Word in this episode is so very evident.
Lizzy is an aspiring author, with hopes to self-publish her devotional book soon, so give her a follow below to support her!

We are continuing our New Life series with SPLENDEUR Magazine's Deborah Woman writer, Hannah Priest!
Hannah sits down with our host, Lydia Summer, and opens up in a big way with her testimony. She shares about the challenges from her time in middle school with being bullied and how that lead to body dysmorphia and other dangerous paths. This episode could be a little triggering for those who may struggle with something similar, but our hope is that you are able to listen to Hannah as she shares how she was able to find freedom from this in order that you may be encouraged and find help as well. In the midst of constant comparison through peers and social media, our desire is to help stop that by sharing stories of the Deborah Women in our lives that can encourage us to know who we are in Christ.
We hope you'll enjoy this episode and that you'll find comfort in knowing that you are not alone. If you need help, please find a trusted person you can reach out to. If you don't know whom to run to, please message Lydia or Hannah on Instagram and either one of them would love to help.

Welcome to the next series of our podcast: New Life!
Before we get into more interviews with our special guests, Lydia Summer dives deeper into God's Word to see what He has to say about the topic of new life. When someone comes to know Christ as their Savior for the first time, each can agree that our lives are forever changed. Our purpose in life changes. How we interact with others changes. The perspective in which we live our lives changes. We talk about all of that through a Biblical lens in this first episode to our series.
As we go throughout our series, Lydia will be interviewing members from the SPLENDEUR team to discuss how they came to know Christ and how their lives have been shaped around Him and because of Him.
Enjoy the start of our series!

TRIGGER WARNING!
In this episode, we have Dr. Phillis Dewitt, co-author of her autobiography with Mary L. Alesandrini, I'm Still Standing: How God Turned My Pain into Purpose. Phillis comes on the show to discuss her past with sexual trauma and abuse and shares how, despite her pain, she was able to find joy and comfort through her faith in God. Together with her first husband, Tony Dewitt, the two of them fostered over 100 children and took permanent legal guardianship over 10 of them. Through fostering, her husband's support in sharing her testimony, Phillis continues to find healing herself from the continual pain she experienced in her life, and found comfort in knowing that, in sharing her story, she was able to help others find freedom from their own sexual trauma.
For those who may have a similar story to Phillis, we want to warn that this could be a difficult episode for you to listen to today. We ask that you prayerfully consider listening to this episode, as we believe that you can find true encouragement through the advice and wisdom that Phillis can bring through her own personal experience.
If you feel as though you are unable to listen to this episode but desire to learn more on how you can find freedom and healing, we recommend visiting Dr. Phillis' website: phillisdewitt.com. There you can find more information on her book, where to purchase it, and other resources for you to find help. If you need someone to talk to, Phillis is here for you.

Merry Christmas everyone! We are so thrilled to end this year with a very special episode that centers around the topic of how to maintain joy year-round through Christ-centered friendships such as the one we exhibit in this episode. Host, Lydia Summer, sits down with friends, Macy Meiss, Gracie Cross, and Ellie Graham, as they share with us some wonderful wisdom and insight in how they are able to maintain joy, even when they don't necessary feel joy, and Scriptures to they run to when they want to find comfort in God.They are ones who, when you meet them, you think, "Wow! They are such joyful, wonderful human beings." Yup - the overly ecstatic, happy you're here, kind of people that you can't help but smile and laugh when you're around them. This episode is no exception. We hope that this episode brings you lots of laughs, but also comfort to your soul in case this holiday is not one filled with joy as much as it does for others.Thank you so much for your support this past year! We could not have made it this far without you and we can't wait to share with you what's coming up in the 2023 year.May you all have a very merry, joyful Christmas and a Happy New Year! We'll see you next year!.....Follow Macy on Instagram: @macymeissFollow Gracie on Instagram: @graciecross_Follow Ellie on Instagram: @elliee_grahamFollow Lydia on Instagram: @thelydiasummerFollow our Instagram account: @dressedinsplendeur#DressedinSplendeur.....Thank you to our sponsors! Welcome to the next series of our podcast: Comfort and Joy!
Before we get into more interviews with our special guests, Lydia Summer dives deeper into God's Word to see what He has to say about the topic of comfort and joy. Where do we find it? What happens when we find comfort and joy in the things of this world? Lydia doesn't claim to be a scholar, but believes that all those who call on the Name of the Lord can have a deeper understanding of His Word if they invite His Spirit to help reveal Truth to them. Lydia desires for all believers to have a growing love for His Word, and to encourage all to listen to the research she gives in this episode with an open heart and, in turn, go back to God to dig deeper into this topic for themselves.
As we go throughout our series, Lydia will be interviewing a variety of guests that will share their testimonies on how they maintain their spirit of joy, even when trials come their way, and find comfort in the God of all compassion.

Happy Thanksgiving and happy shopping!
On today's episode, Lydia Summer concludes the series on the Nearness and Presence of Yahweh with someone who's business centers around helping others spend more time drawing near and entering into God's presence. Founder of Wandering Wilde, Amelia Zobrist joins the conversation and shares her favorite way of spending time in His presence, which is through community. She reveals how she found her group of friends she became close with, which was in a very unexpected way.
Amelia encourages the church to draw near to one another, walk alongside one another, and build one another up in order to truly grow closer to Christ, instead of causing division amongst one another and allowing offense to lead you away from Him and the Church.
As we end our series, we pray that you have found inspiration in learning new ways to draw near to Yahweh and enter into His presence. May you run to God in all things.

After a short hiatus, we are back with another episode in our Nearness and Presence of Yahweh series.
Today, Lydia is joined by self-published author, Maria Elvir. Author of "The Preserving of My Soul", Maria shares her poetry in a beautiful, raw and redemptive way. She shares her heart break and loneliness in her poems, yet ends her book with the message of redemption that can only be found through Christ alone. Writing her poems is one of many ways she draws near to God, and she finds solace and strength in Him when she faces trials.
We pray that this conversation will help you to find new ways in which you can draw near to Yahweh and be in His presence.

Welcome back to our Nearness and Presence of Yahweh series!
In this episode, Lydia is joined by Student Ministries Leader at Bethany Baptist Church, Jimmy Houck. Jimmy sits down with Lydia to share that there is more than one way to draw near to Yahweh, but it's not all concrete. In fact, Jimmy shares that there are abstract ways that we, as His children, can all draw near to our heavenly Father. He also shares that in order for us to truly draw near to Yahweh through concrete ways, we need to understand the abstract of who God is.
Are we confusing you? Well, good! Find out exactly what we mean by listening to this episode.
We pray that this conversation will help you to find new ways in which you can draw near to Yahweh and be in His presence.

Welcome to the first interview of our Nearness and Presence of Yahweh series!
In this episode, Lydia is joined by writer, model, nature enthusiast, and cancer survivor, Kelsie Barnhart. Kelsie sits down and chats about the different ways that she draws near to God and how she can know when she's in His presence. She shares very unique ways that she draws near to Yahweh - ones that might not be as common as you may think of when drawing near to Him yourself. But that is the beautiful thing about God's children! He creates us in unique ways so that we can worship Him in unique ways.
It is truly a fun-filled episode, and we pray that this will help you to know how to draw ever nearer to God instead of further away from Him.

In this episode, Lydia is joined by a dear friend - Lindsey Sheaffer. Lindsey sits down and shares her journey with late stage diagnosis Lyme. In her vulnerability, she recounts the past ten years since her journey began. In all of the valleys she has walked through, she remembers this truth: God is not out to get her. Her love for her is steadfast and sure. Lindsey and Lydia also address a somewhat controversial question: Why is it that God does not always miraculously heal His children from sickness and disease?

Welcome to another episode in our Mountains and Valleys series!
In this episode, Lydia is joined by singer and writer, Lea Tanton. The two of them chat about the winding path that God has lead Lea on across numerous countries which helped ignite a lot of her passions. They discuss the different emotions that come with the promise of dreams to be fulfilled, but finding those dreams needing to be set aside for a time to serve God and say yes to His will instead of her own. Lea shares about the blessings that come from her obedience, and she believes that everything God did in her life in the past had actually prepared her for the re-emerging of her dreams in the present.
As you listen, Lea and Lydia pray that this episode may serve as a reminder to trust in God's timing for your life, and not to force your will to line up with God's will. We hope you enjoy this episode!

Welcome to another episode of Dressed in Splendeur! In this episode, Ashley Trecek, joins Lydia to discuss a relevant topic among many young people today: singleness. Ashley chats about how this season has lasted longer than she expected; the feelings she has with her dream of being a mother and wife not yet being fulfilled; the joys that she's experienced because she's single; how the church can encourage and build up the singles; and so much more. Ashley is honest, relatable, and downright hysterical! She and Lydia both pray that this episode may be an encouragement to those who may desire to fast-forward through their single years, and that they may learn to find joy in the mountains and valleys one may face in this season.
Buckle up! This one's gonna be fun.
