Hello, Welcome to The Daily Lift.
A podcast that gives you the lift you need to have a great day, every day.
We get together every day to lift our spirits to a higher frequency so we can better our lives. So we can create the life we want, for ourselves and for those we care about.
Les Brown said, “Make each day count by setting specific goals to succeed, then putting forth every effort to exceed your own expectations.”
In today’s daily reflection, I’ll share an excerpt from the introduction of a brilliant book about expectations. The book gives excellent examples grounded in science. I’m completely fascinated with this entire subject.

Rick Taylar said, “The Breath is right here, right now. Breathe into the moment.”
Every system in the body relies on oxygen for good health.
When you learn to breathe more effectively it can not only give you better mental clarity, it can also help you to sleep better, it helps your digestion, improves the body’s immune system response, and also reduces stress.
When you’re under stress or feel anxious about stuff you usually breathe more shallow. This can not only cut the amount of oxygen your system needs but can worsen your symptoms.
In today’s daily reflection, I’ll share an excellent breathing method you can use anytime to help you sleep better and relieve stress and anxiety.

George Bernard Shaw said, “Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”
When we are feeling down, it can be helpful to remember that bad moods often trigger errors in our thinking that make our thoughts overly negative and inaccurate. Learning these common errors in thinking can help us recognize when our thoughts are untrue.
It also encourages us not to automatically believe our thoughts. When we are in a low mood, we can identify which errors in thinking are present and then more effectively challenge our thoughts.
I’ll share these common errors in thinking in today’s daily reflection.

Picasso said, “Action is the foundational key to all success.”
Sometimes we get so stuck in our failures or problems we forget to acknowledge our successes. It’s important to do this so we don’t start believing nothing in our lives was good.
Now let’s set our expectations for the day.
Keep this simple. We do this each and every day to influence the outcomes we want. Think of something you can easily accomplish so you give yourself a win. Try not to have impossible expectations. At least for now.
Yes, you can have big expectations, but break them down into daily ones. You’ll get stronger and stronger at controlling your day.

Just a quick note. I had a delay getting the website up. So please bear with me. It should be up within a couple of days. Thank you.
Author Margaret J. Wheatley said “Without reflection, we go blindly on our way, creating more unintended consequences, and failing to achieve anything useful.”
Self-reflection or introspection is key to living a successful life. Being able to look back and review what went wrong and what went right in your life is very valuable. You’re able to hold yourself true to your personal values and integrity.

Author Ralph Marston said “Don't lower your expectations to meet your performance. Raise your level of performance to meet your expectations. Expect the best of yourself, and then do what is necessary to make it a reality.”
Expectations are powerful. They influence how you deal with your life on a daily basis and your responses to what happens to you. We can use this fact to live better lives if we’re consistent.
I like to say, if you expect nothing from life, that’s exactly what you’ll get. We’ll look deeper into expectations in today’s daily reflection.
And on that note let’s set our expectations for the day.
Now, let’s do our…
Daily Gratitude practice
This is a key step for your day. It will increase the influence of your expectations.
Today's daily reflection
Many people have learned not to have expectations, especially when dealing with other people. They have such a long history of disappointments and failures that they’ve given up on expecting anything at all.
Weekly affirmation
Each week I'll give you an affirmation to use. I'll remind you every day to keep using it. The more you use it, the more effective it will be.
Here's the affirmation for this week
"I have the strength and wisdom I need to handle anything."
Don’t forget your…
Weekly guided meditation
Maybe you don’t like meditation or feel it does nothing for you. How about you try it anyway, just for fun? It’s short. Maybe it’ll help you.
Guided meditation can help effortlessly focus your mind on those things you need to change to improve your life.
Just hit play and follow along the best you can. It can be a wonderful experience if you allow it to be.
The guided meditation for this week is a forgiveness meditation. You can find the link to download the mp3 in the show notes for this episode at thedailylift.org. I hope you enjoy it.

Hello, this is Rick Taylar.
Welcome to The Daily Lift. A podcast that gives you the lift you need to have a great day, every day.
We get together every day to lift our spirits to a higher frequency so we can better our lives. So we can create the life we want, for ourselves and for those we care about.
Jack Canfield said “Your habits will determine your future.”
By following the actions in this podcast you will form new habits and build the future you want.
Today's daily reflection
Affirmations help us to develop a positive mindset and thus break down the barriers that negative thinking puts up in our day-to-day lives.
Positive affirmations remind us of the joy of life and affect our subconscious mind in order to grow our capacity to create our own successes and mold our own reality.
Method
The idea is to create a positive statement addressing a desire for change and repeat it daily.
Here are the steps
Begin by making a list of the areas of your life in need of improvement; nearly any arena can be positively affected by the use of affirmations, but for demonstrative purposes, we will create affirmations for anxiety and stress reduction.
Now create a list of positive statements that reflect this goal: “I am intelligent” instead of “I’m not dumb.”
The statements must be in the present tense; remember, you are trying to change your present situation, not the future. In our example, it is better to say “I am a calm person, free from worry” than “I will be a calm person, free from worry.”
You can choose to speak your affirmations. Repeat them throughout the day until they begin to take hold...and continue after that! Try to go over your affirmation first thing in the morning then around midday and again just before sleep.
Of course, repeat it in your mind all through the day as you think of it. The more times you repeat it, the faster it will become part of you.
Some people choose to speak their affirmations in the mirror while looking themselves in the eye because it magnifies the importance of the message.
You can even sing your affirmations! Just be sure to say them like you really believe them.

Hello, my name's Rick Taylar, welcome to my new podcast The Daily Lift.
I'm here 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
I create a fresh podcast for you each and every morning to help keep your mind focused on the positive aspects of living. The positive flow of life.
I think all people have struggles at different times in their lives. That's just the nature of living. It's how we cope with them that counts.
How will The Daily Lift help you?
By getting you to shift your focus to those things that truly matter. By inviting you to use your mind constructively to improve all aspects of your life.
Together we'll look at better ways to be more causative in your life. This will help shift your mindset to one that's a lot more positive. Your future will become brighter. It'll take some soul-searching, but it's well worth it.
Some of the things we'll do together each day will be routine.
For example, setting your expectations for the day. Considering the kind of person you'll need to be to do that. We'll also practice mindfulness and gratitude.
But that's not all. We'll also go over daily reflections that you can work on. I'll give you weekly affirmations to help strengthen your will. You'll get simple guided meditations that will help make you calmer, more peaceful, and ready to take on the world.
We do this every day! You just need to turn up and do the short, simple exercises.
The goal is to form good habits and to use your mind more effectively. To have the ability to focus your thoughts and create the world you want.
Who am I?
I worked as a counselor for over 20 years, I practice and teach mindfulness and guided meditation. I'm 100% focused on spiritual improvement and I meditate every day. I'm also an author of self-improvement books.
I wake up at 5am every morning to do my morning ritual and start my day off on a positive note.
My goal is simple. I want to help as many people as I can take control of their own lives so that they in turn positively affect the lives of everyone around them.
I really do hope you take up this challenge and turn up each and every day.
See you tomorrow!
