It is only when he crosses path with the Black Panthers that his story becomes extraordinary.
George Brown left behind him, in the USA, a son that he didn’t get to know. The bitter irony is that his son who has no memories of his father, is in prison...
When George Brown gets out of prison, activism is still at the center of his life. He marries a french woman, Annie. Both of them will spend their lives fighting for the rights of African- Americans and political prisoners.
The group decide to leaved Algeria to go to France. Underground life begins. But eventually they get caught....
In Algeria nothing goes as planed. The first arguments amongst the leaders are surfacing and the disappointment is immense. What happened?
One evening, Jessica is emptying out her mother’s flat and she finds this newspaper clipping: « 31st of July 1972, a DC8 flying from Detroit to Miami is hijacked, destination Alger ». Who are the hijackers? 5 Black Panthers. And amongst them, George Brown, her godfather.
The decision is made. George and his group of friends will hijack a plane. The goal: join the international section of the Black Panthers in Algeria.
George Brown was born in the USA in 1944. His childhood, like many African-Americans is blighted by racism, poverty, injustice, police violence and abusive detention. It is in prison that he decides to join the Black Panthers and that decides he will escape the USA.
