Yo So today I asked you guys on twitter what hip hop songs you thought belong in a museum? I think this is a cool question because you could use so many different metrics when you choose a song. Maybe a song is incredible songwriting and cohesiveness. Like sing about me, I'm dying of thirst or maybe you chose a song like stand because of the vivid storytelling or maybe you choose a song like devil in a new dress because of how grained it is and it just feels like something that belongs in a museum. A lot of songs came to my mind, but the two that I narrowed it down to were the songs Redbone by Childish Gambino and fancy clown by MF Doom. I chose Red Bone because it sounds so unique and his voice on that song is used unbelievably well. And I chose fancy clown because of how just incredible the instrumental is, the sample is beautiful and mad, lib really outdid himself on that song and Dooms wraps fit the beat to a perfection, that melancholy sound. Doom does so well. On top of that there's incredible storytelling and it comes together to make a masterpiece of a song. Yeah, but those are my thoughts and um let me know what you guys, what's hip hop songs you guys think belong in a museum

I know a huge basketball fan. I've lived in Cleveland all my life so naturally I'm a massive cast fan but these finals I'm sharing for the Warriors because of this man right here. Steph curry, I love Steph curry so much. Just because of how much he revolutionized how we play basketball. He's so much fun to watch and he has led this Warriors dynasty to some well deserved titles. I'll never forget you know going up against him and for that I'm thankful for that but you know he's an amazing player so He put up 40 points. Second highest finals game scoring wise he's ever had. You know and I'm I'm really happy with them I think where is it gonna win in 7? But if the Celtics win I hope that man Jaylen Brown gets the finals M. V. P. Because I love what he's doing and yeah let me know what you guys think.

What's up guys? I want to talk about this new X. X. Expectation album. I've seen a lot of people hating on it because they're saying it's a money grab like all these previous posthumous releases. But this one is actually different because like there's no unfinished songs. Like the other ones there's no memos or nothing like that. His team actually listened for once and they gave the fans like what we wanted a bunch of SoundCloud songs. They put his biggest SoundCloud songs on streaming the songs that actually got him notoriety and put them on the map and kind of made Soundcloud itself popular. And that's just one side of the album. I see people being upset about the other side like the hit side. And I don't understand that because artists release hit albums all the time. Like the weekend literally has one. I think he has to actually and he's still alive but he didn't get any backlash for that. So I don't understand why people are getting X. Backlash for this. Like yeah he didn't release it himself. His team did. But I mean still those are his most popular songs and they're alongside with the documentary. It just doesn't make any sense. I just wish people could listen to the sound card songs and just leave it at that and just be happy with it because I mean the fans we've wanted that for years

Yo. Today I wanted to talk about LP by J. Peg mafia and why in my opinion it's one of the rappers slash producers greatest bodies work. I've seen people compare Peggy to artists like Death grips a lot. I think this comparison is really dumb as Peggy has his own unique style and it's kind of insulting to compare him to someone else even though death grips is obviously so iconic in the hip hop world, it's super evident on LP that he has his own style. We often see Peggy taking a more melodic approach to experimental hip hop songs like Kissy Face emoji and thoughts, Prayer show that, but also songs like end credits and B. M. T. So that he can be the exact opposite. LP is great because it shows that versatility. It also shows his growth as a producer veteran and all my heroes are both classic experimental albums but LP has this mature vibe to it that the others don't also has some of his most daring production yet. I mean the beat on nemo is just nuts. I love his use of vocals and samples to create rhythm rather than like melody. We see this in O G B M. T. And are you happy to cite a few? I think it's awesome when beats have this kind of Memphis funk influence to them. I think LP is one of the strangest albums from last year and one of the strongest as well and it truly shows just how talented and important Peg mafia is as an artist today

Yo welcome to episode two of Making the case today we're gonna be talking about Kanye last episode we talked about the growth of jay Z, we discussed how his past brought into the success yesterday, I think it's only right to talk about Kanye next him and jay Z have a lot of similarities in the fact that their growth, not only musically but as individuals can be seen throughout their albums. Early Kanye records show how he relied on rapping to make a name for himself as his career grew, we saw his rapping almost take a backseat as he focused on the music as a whole. Sonically not saying Kanye's rapping is bad because it's seriously underrated. Just saying that you can tell Kanye cares more about the music now than the wrapping itself. Kanye is the goat because his discography is seriously unmatched. There's few rappers you can compare it to. I mean I would say outcast as a similar similarly great discography as him. Maybe even jay Z. He has some okay albums but for the most part everything is catalog could be considered other rappers, best work. He's highly influential and truly one of the goats. The emotional openness on eight awaits and heartbreak changed rap forever. His use of Chipmunk soul in his early music influenced a whole new wave of producers and a celebrity status and confident persona. Change the attitudes and personalities of rappers forever

All right, let's talk about this. Rolling Stone's top 200 hip hop albums of all time. So, if you guys haven't seen this yet, Rolling Stone Released a list of the top 200 hip hop albums of all time and it is a mess. I know the ranking everyone's talking about is invasion of privacy by Cardi B being placed 16th all time. Hip hop boys. And yeah, I don't know what they were thinking with this, They ranked higher than illmatic, Mad villainy, Good Kids, Mad City, A reasonable doubt. I believe in a whole bunch of other classics. To me this, I mean, this really shows how out of Touch Rolling Stone is with the current state of hip hop to not have any former rappers or people of any notoriety in hip hop at all, curate this list is ridiculous to me, and and it's pretty obvious to me that putting this at 16 is a half fast attempt to show female representation, but by using invasion of privacy to do that, it shows you know just how little Rolling Stone really knows about what's going on in hip hop, because there are so many amazing female artists that deserve that spot more than her. So yeah, man, and there's a whole bunch of other ridiculous rankings in here, but I just wanted to talk about that and let me know what you guys think

yo, so today I wanted to start a series called Making the Case in this series, I'm going to go down different rappers and I'm gonna say what I think makes them have a chance to be called the greatest of all time in going down their resume. The first installment of a series, I wanted to go with jay Z and I chose jay Z because I think he has one of the best arguments for this out of any rappers and I think what makes jay Z's argument so good is that he just has everything you want and the greatest rapper of all time, He has Elite Pen, he's crazy longevity, commercial success in multiple classics man, he's the ultimate package dude. But I think the thing that makes jay Z's career really cool is it's almost cinematic, seeing you know, hope come from like the drug dealer mafia vibe to a mature father who's apologizing for the mistakes he's made in the past and 44 is so cool and something like I've never really seen to that magnitude, I think jay's career really should be the blueprint for an amazing rap career because when it's all said and done, he will be leaving behind it a near perfect legacy man. So that's what I think jay Z's cases and let me know what you guys think

yo so Mr Moran and the Big Steppers. First week sales just came out and I've seen a lot of opinions about it everywhere and I just wanted to get my thoughts on it. The album sold I believe 286,000 copies first week. And this is definitely a letdown for a lot of Kendrick fans man. And I think a big part of that is because of the behemoth expectations that this album had for first week sales that were just impossible to meet. I think people don't realize that a long awaited album usually doesn't mean more first week sales. And I've been saying this since even before the album came out. But I think what this really goes to show is that even an artist of Kendrick's caliber can't take a five year break going radio silent without a sale has been affected you know a lot just because of the A. D. H. D. Fast paced music industry that we're in with, you know, so many upcoming artists. So you know, I'm curious if other artists are going to be able to do it and how, you know, artists like frank Ocean, you know how his sales are going to look after taking a long break. And yeah it's just it's just curious. So you know what are your guys thoughts on it and um let me know
