Devotional Reflection on Psalm 68:Psalm 68 is a powerful psalm that celebrates the greatness of God and His victory over His enemies. It begins with joyful praise for God's strength and His ability to scatter His foes. The psalmist exalts God as a father to the fatherless and a defender of widows, highlighting His care for the marginalized and vulnerable in society.
The imagery of God marching through the wilderness and the earth quaking at His presence evokes a sense of awe and reverence. It reminds us of God's sovereignty and His authority over all creation. As we reflect on these verses, we are encouraged to trust in God's power and provision in our lives.
The psalmist also acknowledges God's past faithfulness to His people, leading them through the wilderness and providing for their needs. This serves as a reminder for us to look back on God's faithfulness in our own lives and to trust Him for the future.
Lesson:One key lesson we can draw from Psalm 68 is the importance of praising God for His mighty works and trusting in His faithfulness. Just as the psalmist calls on the people to sing praises to God and rejoice in His victory, we are also called to worship Him with gratitude and joy.
Summary of Psalm 68:Psalm 68 is a triumphant song of praise that magnifies God's strength, justice, and care for His people. He’s hopeless! Even God can’t save him from this!”Pause in his presenceThe Help of GodBut in the depths of my heart I truly knowthat you, Yahweh, have become my Shield; You take me and surround me with yourself.Your glory covers me continually. You lift high my head.I have cried out to you, Yahweh, from your holy presence. You send me a Father’s help.Pause in his presenceThe Song of SafetySo now I’ll lie down and sleep like a baby—then I’ll awake in safety, for you surround me with your glory.Even though ten thousand dark powers prowl around me,I won’t be afraid. The Secret of StrengthRise up and help me, Yahweh! Come and save me, God!For you will slap them in the face, breaking the power of their words to harm me.For the Lord alone is my Savior. What a feast of favor and bliss he gives his people!Pause in his presence============PSALMS 3: David’s praise of the Lord’s deliverance over evil is one of the most beautiful and powerful psalms in the entire Bible. It is sung often at the end of church services, especially when a member of the congregation or family is facing some kind of trouble or danger. It is also sung at Jewish weddings and at times of joyous celebration. The reason for David’s praises is simple: because he was a man of peace, and he knew the power and peace of Yahweh. In the midst of all the turmoil he had experienced during the reign of his own son and heir, Absalom, David had been forced to flee. He was forced to leave his home and his father’s throne and go into hiding. At the same time, his enemies were scheming to get rid of him by any means possible. However, even though David knew that his enemies could succeed in destroying him, he never once doubted Yahweh’s protection. He knew that Yahweh was his shield and that no harm could come to him.As a result, he was free to celebrate Yahweh’s deliverance. It was at this time that the Lord chose to bless David with the knowledge that his enemies could not prevail against him because he knew the protection of God. He also wanted David to know the great and glorious peace that he felt, and to remind him of his trust in God. This is the greatest comfort to the Christian who faces opposition, or any kind of threat, from others. If you are struggling with an opposing force, know that the Lord is watching over you, and that he is able to turn it into an occasion for praise and prayer.============The Passion Translation® is a registered trademark of Passion & Fire Ministries, Inc. PSALMS 2The Coronation of the KingAct I – The Nations Speak1 How dare the nations plan a rebellion.Their foolish plots are futile! 2 Look at how the power brokers of the worldrise up to hold their summitas the rulers scheme and confer togetheragainst Yahweh and his Anointed King, saying:3 “Let’s come together and break away from the Creator.Once and for all let’s cast off these controlling chainsof God and his Christ!” Act II – God Speaks4 God-Enthroned merely laughs at them;the Sovereign One mocks their madness!5 Then with the fierceness of his fiery anger,he settles the issue and terrifies them to death with these words:6 “I myself have poured out my King on Zion, my holy mountain.” Act III – The Son Speaks7 “I will reveal the eternal purpose of God.For he has decreed over me, ‘You are my favored Son.And as your Father I have crowned you as my King Eternal.Today I became your Father.8 Ask me to give you the nations and I will do it,and they shall become your legacy.Your domain will stretch to the ends of the earth.9 And you will shepherd them with unlimited authority, crushing their rebellion as an iron rod smashes jars of clay!’ ”Act IV – The Holy Spirit Speaks10 “Listen to me, all you rebel kingsand all you upstart judges of the earth.Learn your lesson while there’s still time.11 Serve and worship the awe-inspiring God.Recognize his greatness and bow before him, trembling with reverence in his presence. 12 Fall facedown before him and kiss the Son before his anger is roused against you.Remember that his wrath can be quickly kindled! But many blessings are waiting for allwho turn aside to hide themselves in him!”============The Passion Translation® is a registered trademark of Passion & Fire Ministries, Inc. The Tree of Life1 What delight comes to the one who follows God’s ways! He won’t walk in step with the wicked, nor share the sinner’s way,nor be found sitting in the scorner’s seat.2 His passion is to remain true to the Word of “I AM,”meditating day and night on the true revelation of light. 3 He will be standing firm like a flourishing treeplanted by God’s design, deeply rooted by the brooks of bliss, bearing fruit in every season of life.He is never dry, never fainting, ever blessed, ever prosperous. 4 But how different are the wicked. They are like chaff blown away by the wind.5 The wicked will not endure the day of judgment, for God will not defend them.Nothing they do will succeed or endure for long, for they have no part with those who walk in truth.6 But how different it is for the righteous! The Lord embraces their paths as they move forwardwhile the way of the wicked leads only to doom.============If you are looking for a podcast to help you relax and de-stress, look no further.Rain and Bible is our podcast where we focus on giving you the best sleep, relaxation, and meditation to help you clear your mind and enjoy your day.Rain and Bible is a podcast created to help those who looking for a more natural, relaxing approach to meditation.
