Each week, they will choose a different verse to discuss and memorize with YOU. Expect deep conversations, lots of encouragement, and tons of tips to help you memorize scripture! Friends, the verse of the week is Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
If you struggle with anxiety this episode is for you! Both Raizel and Xenia know what it is like to struggle with anxious thoughts. In this episode they discuss how they have navigated their anxiety and have turned to the Lord and his Word for help in their times of need. This verse tells us that our response to anxiety should be dependence on the Lord. When we turn to him for help, we are offered a peace that transcends our circumstances, fears, worries, and doubts. God who is in control of everything and knows everything is our greatest helper, and more than that desires to help us navigate our emotions in a way that glorifies him and heals us!

Friends, the verse of the week is Psalm 73:25, “Whom have I in heaven but you? And earth has nothing I desire besides you.”
In this episode Raizel and Xenia discuss the difficulty of finding satisfaction and joy in Christ alone. We can be easily deceived into believing that the things the world calls “good” (fame, fortune, approval of many, material items, physical beauty, a perfect home, etc.) can fulfill the desires of our souls. The truth is that everything in this world will leave us feeling empty and longing for more, but Jesus offers us satisfaction for eternity. This verse calls us to delight in the Lord more than we delight in anything else, and it is not an easy call. The Bible recognizes that finding joy in the Lord alone is a battle and requires us to fight using spiritual disciplines such as prayer, confession, and meditation on God’s word. In this episode Raizel and Xenia encourage you to turn your gaze towards Jesus again and again. This alone will help you see Jesus for who He truly is, and will diminish your desire for things that can only bring you counterfeit joy.

Friends, the verse of the week is Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”

In this episode Raizel and Xenia discuss good works. Our works do not save us, but they are evidence of our faith. When we trust Jesus as our savior, we are made new; the Holy Spirit resides in us and transforms us look more like Christ. Christ in us produces good works. Just like we cannot boast in our salvation, we cannot boast in the fruit we bear. Why? Because God’s word says that apart from him we can do nothing. HE is behind every good thing we do, and he prepared these good works for us in advance. The good works we perform for him don’t have to be flashy and shouldn’t be for our glory. Our good works will naturally flow out of us doing two things: Loving the Lord with our heart, soul, and mind and loving our neighbor as ourselves.

In this episode Raizel and Xenia discuss the greatest gift we’ve ever been given - salvation! So many people think that they need to be perfect, or clean themselves up before they can be loved by the Lord, but this could not be further from the truth. God gave his one and only Son for you, not because you earned salvation, but because he loves YOU. Salvation cannot be earned because it is impossible for us to measure up to the holiness of God! The gift of salvation always points to the goodness of our God, not the goodness of his people. We hope this episode encourages you to stop striving to be “good enough for God” and enjoy the truth that you are loved not for what you can do, but because of who he is!

Lament and grief are a normal part of the journey of faith. God welcomes our prayers, questions, and honesty in times of hardship.

God’s compassion is inexhaustible! It never ceases. This is a quality he has demonstrated since the beginning of creation. The first people who sinned, Adam and Eve were shown immense compassion in the garden when God clothed them after their disobedience!

God is faithful to provide exactly what we need for everyday. We can trust him to sustain us.

When life gets hard our first inclination isn’t to be still. Just like the Israelites, in the midst of hardship we are prone to question God, and tempted to create our own solutions.
In this episode Raizel and Xenia discuss what it means to be still. Being still doesn’t mean giving up or losing hope, it means trusting that the Lord will go before you, will provide for your every need, and will give you the gift of his nearness.

Friends, the verse of the week is Psalm 139:14
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.”
This verse may be one that you’ve seen on coffee mugs, journals, and sweatshirts, but its familiarity doesn’t diminish its power. In a world where comparison is rampant, we all need to be reminded that we were wonderfully made, created by the creator of the universe who makes no mistakes. God created each and every person in his image and set each person apart for specific purposes that bring glory to his name.
This verse is the greatest reminder that our lives have meaning! God, who is so wonderful and so holy, gives us unique opportunities to reflect him and play a role in his redemptive story!

A good shepherd does not forsake his flock in times of trouble, and neither does our shepherd, Jesus! In this verse we are given the greatest hope, certainty that we are eternally secure in the hands of our shepherd!

We take our thoughts captive by first thinking about what we are thinking about, and second challenging any thought that is contrary to truth by submitting it to the word of God. This practice will help us renew our minds, transforming us into people who’s thoughts align with Christ’s!

Friends, the verse of the week is
James 5:16 “Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.”
Let’s be honest, confession can be scary! Sharing our sins can feel like airing out our dirty laundry and risking being judged or rejected! When we have this perception of confession we will keep our struggles to ourselves, giving our sin the ability to grow.
In this week’s episode Raizel and Xenia encourage you to be vulnerable and confess your sins to trusted believers! Scripture tells us that confession in the context of community is actually good for us and leads to our healing. With the right understanding of the purpose of confession we will not only be unafraid to confess our sins, but will see it as as celebration of the gospel!

Friends, the verse of the week is
James 1:19 “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.”
The meaning of this verse within the context of James chapter 1 may surprise you! Yes, this verse is a great encouragement in conflict, and relationship with others; however, this verse is meant to encourage you to approach the word of God with humility and eagerness to understand!
In this episode Raizel and Xenia discuss living in submission to the God’s word and recognize how difficult it can be to obey the truth in scripture. As broken people, we often have trouble believing that all of God’s commands are for our good. Thankfully, God knows us and understands our troubles. He provides help for us in our times of weakness and stubbornness and has the power to mold us into people who yield to his word with joy!

Being a believer doesn’t mean following a set of rules and earning God’s favor. Being a believer means understanding that you could never earn God’s favor through your own efforts and need Jesus! Jesus declares us righteous not because of anything we can do, or will do, but because of his death and resurrection on the cross.
If you find yourself exhausted trying to be perfect or feel weighed down by your sins, have peace! Jesus does not expect perfection from you. He loves you and gave himself for you while you were still a sinner. Walk in freedom and let your strivings cease, knowing that your righteousness is secure in the work of Jesus alone.

Proverbs 4:23, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
We’ve all heard the saying, “follow your heart.” Our culture believes that our hearts can show us the way to true contentment and satisfaction. This phrase encourages us to pursue our heart’s desires whole-heartedly, believing that if we do all will be well with us and with the world.
The Bible tells us a different story. In scripture our hearts are described not as trustworthy guides, but as deceitful and wicked, producers of evil, capable of murder, adultery, theft, sexual immortality, and more.
In this episode Raizel and Xenia encourage you not to follow your hearts, but to direct your hearts by turning to scripture, confiding in trustworthy friends, listening to the counsel of others, examining your life, and praying for wisdom. As Psalm 73:26 tells us, our flesh and our hearts may fail, but God is the strength of our hearts forever. He is able to transform us and give us new hearts that joyfully submit to his wisdom and guidance.

Xenia takes time to share some vulnerable thoughts and struggles she experienced while on her honeymoon due to misplaced pleasure, and her prayer to view the Lord has her ultimate treasure.

In this episode Raizel and Xenia discuss delighting in weakness. Our culture hates admitting weakness and loves to appear self-sufficient, but the Bible tells us that our weakness is a good thing - in our shortcomings we are made strong by the Lord!
Our weaknesses remind us of our need for God and of his ability to fulfill what we lack. When we look to him for strength he is able to do infinitely more that we could ever ask for or imagine!

If you’ve fallen short (Roman’s 3:23 says we all have) this episode will remind you that you are not your sins, and your sins don’t disqualify you from a relationship with God!
When you fall short, run to the father who is ready to extend grace, mercy and forgiveness! He’s waiting on you with open arms!

They dive into Isaiah 26:3 and share what they are tempted to turn to when searching for peace. There are a lot of things in this world that can give us a sense of peace, but nothing can give us perfect peace like Jesus can.
The words “perfect peace” are translated into “Shalom, Shalom” in Hebrew! Let’s chase that Shalom, Shalom together! Happy listening and happy memorizing!

In a world obsessed with productivity and busyness, will we humbly accept Jesus’ invitation to go to Him and take upon his yoke?
