In this episode, we dive deep into the life and example of John the Baptist. A man who knew his lane, stayed faithful, and pointed everything back to Jesus. From the wilderness to his bold witness, John’s story reminds us that our calling isn’t about our glory, but about making Christ known.

We’ll explore key scriptures like John 3:30, “He must increase, but I must decrease,” and Hebrews 2:14, which shows how Jesus destroyed the power of death. Along the way, we’ll uncover the dangers of offense, the importance of living by God’s grace, and why striving to simply be a “good person” falls short of the call to live like Jesus.

Through scripture, prayer, and reflection, this episode calls us to lay down self, embrace our witness, and live with bold faith—because it’s not about us, it’s all about Him.

Freedom to Overcome

In this episode of Impact Over Influence, we dive deep into the true meaning of the Cross, our source of purpose, power, and promise. Life can feel like a puzzle where every piece matters, but only Christ brings the whole picture together. From the brokenness of sin to the undeniable glory of redemption, we explore how Jesus came to demolish the works of the enemy and restore what was lost.

We’ll wrestle with real questions this generation is asking: Do we serve the same God? Why do so many Christians still feel powerless? The truth is, the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us, giving us access to God’s strength, direction, and grace.

Through scripture, reflection, and relatable conversation, we’re reminded that God’s promises are still alive today and that His purpose in us is undeniable. It only took One Jesus on the Cross to change everything.

If you’ve ever wondered where your purpose comes from or what promise you can hold onto, this episode will encourage you to stand firm in the power of the Cross and walk boldly in your calling.

In this episode of Impact Over Influence, we shift our gaze from celebration to compassion as we reflect on the devastating flooding across South Central Texas during this Fourth of July week. While many lit fireworks, others were clinging to hope, rescuing loved ones, praying for the missing, and mourning what or who was lost.

We cling to the truth of Romans 8:28"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose." But how do we live that out when tragedy hits close to home?

Jesus reminds us of the two greatest commandments: Love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, and mind... and love your neighbor as yourself (Matthew 22:37–39). In times like these, love looks like showing up, speaking life, giving generously, and standing in the gap for those in need.

This isn’t just a call to reflect, it’s a call to respond. Because when the waters rise, so must the Church. Tune in for a conversation rooted in faith, overflowing with compassion, and anchored in love.

God's Power is Greater
In a world that often glorifies self-reliance and control, this episode reminds us that true strength is found in surrender. Based on 1 Corinthians 2:4-5 and 1 Corinthians 1:18-19, we explore how God’s power, not human wisdom ,carries the weight of transformation.

With raw honesty, Shelli Zan asks a heart-piercing question: “Are we willing to sink the whole ship if we can't be the captain?” It’s a challenge to lay down pride, fear, and control at the feet of Jesus and trust the power of the cross.

Whether you're struggling with letting go or simply need to be reminded who holds the power, this episode will encourage you to lean into the strength of God rather than your own.

In this powerful episode, we walk through a story of God’s faithfulness — from heartbreak to healing. Shelli shares a personal testimony of her son, who suffered a traumatic accident at just 18 months old. Now at age 10, he’s mowing lawns with strength and purpose — a picture of resilience, redemption, and God’s hand at work.

Together, we reflect on how God transforms our stories — using even the darkest moments for good, just as Romans 8:28promises. Through Psalm 139, we remember that God has always known and seen us, even in the womb. And in Romans 12:1–2, we're called to live as living sacrifices, no longer conformed to this world but transformed by the renewing of our minds.

But sometimes, it’s not our circumstances that limit us — it’s our hearts. In Mark 8:17–21, Jesus challenges His disciples: “Are your hearts still hardened?” This episode invites honest reflection. Have we allowed pain or fear to harden our hearts? Are we missing the miracles in front of us?

Let this conversation open your eyes to what God is doing — where you’ve been is not the end of the story. He’s faithful to complete what He started. The question is: will we have eyes to see, and hearts ready to believe?

Reflect to Reform

In this powerful episode, we dive into the theme Reflect to Reform, rooted in personal testimony from Impact's 3rd Annual retreat where lives were changed through genuine encounters with Jesus, not emotional hype, but Spirit-led transformation.

We explore the call to humble ourselves (1 Peter 5:6), the urgency of the times (2 Timothy 3:1-7), and the sufficiency of Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16-17) as the foundation for reformation. Through the lens of John 1:1, John 14:6, and John 4, we are reminded that Jesus is the Word, the Truth, and the only One who truly satisfies.

It’s time we stop labeling Spirit-filled gatherings as “emotional experiences” and start celebrating spaces where people are earnestly seeking Jesus.

Scripture References:

• John 1:1

• John 14:6

• 1 Peter 5:6

• 2 Timothy 3:1–7, 16–17

Do you understand the difference between being remorseful and true repentance?

Remorse is a deep regret or sorrow for wrongdoing, often stemming from the consequences of one's actions. Repentance, on the other hand, goes beyond regret and involves a sincere turning away from sinful behavior, seeking forgiveness, and committing to a changed life guided by God's principles. Repentance reflects a genuine transformation of heart and mind.

We have all felt remorse for something we have done or maybe someone we have hurt but have we been truly repentant?

It is necessary for moms, daughters, lawyers, and lunch ladies. We ALL need this study.

When you gaze into the mirror, you might reflect upon the words from Corinthians 13:12, "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." This biblical verse suggests that our current understanding is limited, much like a distorted reflection in a mirror, but one day we will have a clearer and more complete perception.

What did Jesus write in the sand? Does your Bible include John 8:1-11?

As Christians today we should act, speak, and preach Godliness in this ungodly world. Not by judging it, but by exposing it and its need for a savior. Titus 2:11-15 saying yes to Godliness and no to our fleshes desires. It's not that we won't ever want to do the old things that once tempt us, we are new in Christ and have a savior to help us rebuke those temptations.

James chapter 4 is all about spiritual evaluation. James tells us from verse 1 that external turmoil is linked to internal troubles. If we take a look on the inside of us, what is the cause of the effect? Control comes from lack of security. Vanity comes from lack of self confidence. You enable someone because of your own shame that you haven't dealt with.

Your purpose – On purpose

Purpose is something we all struggle with at some point or another. Maybe you have struggled with this multiple times throughout your life. Reflecting on the time we have got to spend together this week, I know that we have talked about what exactly a disciple is, that we are called to be one also, and even looked at a few that Jesus himself chose. Today I am very excited to talk about how we actually do this.

We live in a time of “do it yourself”. If you don’t know how then just google it. If you need step by step instruction, just Youtube it. There’s a video instruction out there for anything and everything. You can learn new things and be taught literally instantly. People do this to save money and time by just “doing it themselves”

We also live in a world of self-help. That the more you do the more you have.

Knowing who we are disciples of is a must. Any fan of a team can tell you about that team. They know details and who plays on that team. They are proud to wear a jersey or t-shirt with that team’s name on it. They are familiar with what that team does and who the leaders are. The point of this study is to give us confidence and scriptures to back up what we believe, so that approaching others and discipling doesn’t intimidate us any longer.  We know what team we are on and about our team and who leads our team.

Welcome to Season 2, Episode 1, Week 1 of the Discipleship Bible Study "It's Bigger Than You". Wow, that's a mouth full! Im so excited for this study. In this study we will discover and gain confidence in our ultimate purpose for being a believer in Christ.

My prayer is to create a Bible Study that encourages others to evolve into not just being a Christian, but also a Disciple. As Disciples, we need confidence through Christ to be comfortable making our lives beneficial for growing the Kingdom of God. Let's start growing our Faith.

Our Faith and walk with Christ should always be moving forward. That does NOT mean our lives will be absent of trials and troubles. It does mean that we seek Him in all circumstances. We will stand firm and spread the Word of God. We will try our best to seek His will, not our own.

Fear not friends, the Bible tells us how to conquer all of this, so join me alongside many and lets "Spread Jesus"!
