We all have a voice in our heads, a powerful inner critic. Some people call it a conscience, and sometimes it can get in your way.
In the quest to improve yourself, the inner critic needs to be managed. You can't move forward because it's always nagging at your back.
Everyone has a different goal they want to achieve in life, but for some reason, we often get discouraged from reaching our dreams because of the things holding us back.
What could be getting in your way of being your best self? Maybe it's your vision or standards of performance?. How will you discover the highest version of yourself and quiet the lower version that always holds you back?
To find the best version of yourself, you need to be clear of counterproductive thoughts and habits. It can be difficult to do this on your own, but if you aren't willing to make the steps necessary, the higher version of yourself will never come.
Take the time to invest in yourself, education, self-help, or therapy can help you break through and realize the potential you have.
Psychiatrist Carl Jung believed that the human psyche, or the body, mind, and soul, was made up of three parts—the ego, the personal unconscious, and the collective unconscious. It’s the collective unconscious where the Jungian archetypes reside, sometimes the lower self.
Carl Jung said “who looks outside dreams, who looks inside awakens.” -Carl Jung
Our guest tomorrow is Jonathan De Potter felt that – despite an objectively great life, good friends, and career success, something intangible was missing. As a result, Jonathan took a sabbatical year to travel through South America, where he attended his first Ayahuasca plant medicine retreat in Peru.
The retreat experience was transformational, and in his expanded state of consciousness, Jonathan was shown directly the mindsets and behaviors that were keeping him from reaching his potential. Returning to the corporate world, Jonathan was surprised to find he was more patient, empathetic, and productive than ever before, and began researching the world of plant medicine and facilitating retreats.

When I was in my early twenties I was looking for a sense of purpose in life and who I wanted to be. It became hard when I didn't know where I was going and it seemed like everything that I did just wasn't working out.
I couldn't figure out what it was that made me happy; I had no idea what my strengths were; and when it came to my career, there were so many doubts and insecurities about whether or not this was the right path for me. I found myself getting caught up in toxic relationships and feeling like something was always missing.
“Mastering others is strength, mastering yourself is true power.” -Lao Tzu
In order to find your strengths, the first step is to see the vision then take action. It becomes hard when you don't know where you're going and how you're going to do it.
Invest in the classes, seminars, therapists, brand identity courses, and personality tests to find a blueprint of who you are, what you want, and decide the best strategy to move forward.
This week's guest is Jeff Mendelson, the host of the One Big Tip podcast. Everyone has this one secret that no one tells. The one secret tactic, treasured app, or hard-learned process that is singularly responsible for allowing them to shine. Jeff left his corporate job to start his own business and podcast service.

As we progress in our lives the most important things to focus on are staying in the moment, being present, and making a conscious effort to put your best foot forward towards your dreams and goals.

“I’ve missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. Twenty-six times, I've been trusted to take the game-winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed." -Michael Jordan
We all have ambitions, dreams, and aspirations. But the truth is, there are so many things that can get in our way of achieving our goals. One of these is the concept of failure. Everyone fails. There isn’t one person who hasn’t experienced it. It’s how we react and what we learn when it happens that matters.
This week is about self-improvement. Tomorrow's guest is Alex Williamns, he started a podcast called Broken Bulbs and the tagline is “Success doesn't happen without 999 broken bulbs coming before the one, that single idea that works.”
Alex started podcasting to become a better listener and as a means of improving himself. I was also lucky enough to be on the Broken Bulbs Podcast and it was a ton of fun. I’ve failed a lot in my time: relationships, business, life you name it. Each time has been a learning lesson and each time I improved. What no one tells you about failure is that ultimately it gives you an edge on everyone.
What's the best way to improve?
You can:
Read 10 pages a day of a topic you want to improve upon
Find a mentor
Learn a new skill
Or you can gain experience by failing and doing. Attempt the things you’re afraid of. On the other side of fear and comfort are growth and improvement. In fact,
“Good judgment comes from experience, experience comes from bad judgment.” -Dr. Kerr L White
Go out and try something new and fail this week, write down what you learned. Now take those learning lessons and apply them when you try again. Thank you for listening to the valueverse podcast. Here’s to your success.
Alex Williamns

Creativity is an important and integral part of everyday life. At the same time, many people feel like they're not creative at all. We can all be creative, and creativity is one of the most important skills we can develop as humans. It's worth investing your time and energy into cultivating it to make yourself better not just as a person but as a professional as well. The more you do this, the more rewarding your life will be.
“Creativity involves breaking out of expected patterns in order to look at things in a different way." -Edward De Bono
“Everyone who’s ever taken a shower has had an idea. It’s the person who gets out of the shower, dries off, and does something about it who makes a difference.” -Nolan Bushnell
How can a person increase their creativity?
Being creative is not something that you’re born with. It is something that you need to work on and nurture. The following are 10 ways of increasing your creativity:
1) Keep a journal
2) Learn about different cultures
3) Keep an open mind
4) Experiment with different materials or art projects
5) Be inspired by someone else's work (a quote, painting, etc.)
6) Write down your thoughts, ideas, and inspirations
7) Get inspiration from the world around you (nature, sounds, etc.)
8) Get inspirational messages from others on social media or in real life
9) Look at your surroundings for everyday inspiration
10) Create something on your own by taking a writing, painting, or drawing class.

Welcome back to another episode of the valueverse podcast. Growing up you had big dreams and aspirations of things you wanted to do, items you wanted to cross off your list, and the big things you wanted to achieve for your friends and family.
You look at your life now and most of those things happened and some didn’t. At the time, it was for all the right reasons. Looking back, maybe you feel a little regret settle in. Thinking you could have been a bit bolder in asking for a raise or taking a chance on that business venture.
In a world that’s changing, the only strategy guaranteed to fail is not taking risks. Sometimes you risk more by not taking any risks and playing it safe.
Your call to action: Think back and ask yourself “What were some risks I avoided that felt scary at the time but would be in my best interest today if I had acted on them?” Make decisions in the now that will minimize your regret in the future moving forward. Don’t put off necessary things that will advance you in your life, be it financial, health-related, or risk-related.
A helpful tool is to use the regret minimization framework- Ask yourself: “In X amount of years will I regret not doing this?” If the answer is yes, do it. If it is no, don’t bother. This was popularized by Jeff Bezos in building Amazon.
Tomorrow’s guest is Travis Bell, author of My Bucketlist Blueprint and founder of the Certified Bucket List coach program. #tickitB4ukickit As Trav and I talked we went over the framework and process of My Bucket List:
M – Meet A Personal Hero
Y – Your Proud Achievements
B – Buy That Something Special
U – Ultimate Challenges
C – Conquer a Fear
K – Kind Acts for Others
E – Express Yourself
T – Take Lessons
L – Leave A Legacy
I – Idiotic Stuff
S – Satisfy A Curiosity
T – Travel Adventures
Thank you for listening to the ValueVerse podcast. The episode will go live tomorrow morning at 6am Pacific time. Have a great week ahead.

We all know that becoming a leader can be a lot of responsibility and stress for one person. But what if you could become a leader by taking just a few small steps and changes in order to make a huge difference?

Tune in to this week’s episode of ValueVerse as Kawan and Dr. Laura Sicola talk about being communication, leadership, and how to make a positive impact in the world.

What new things are you learning now? The guests I have on this week approach their crafts like experts. Are you honing a skill or craft that you’ve been working on for a while? John Maxwell said “Credibility is a leader's currency. With it, he or she is solvent; without it, he or she is bankrupt.”
I’m sure you’ve heard of the ten thousand hour rule, repetition, deliberate practice, the importance of vision and goals. If you build a skill you’re always going to be set up to win. Without it, you’ll have nothing to fall back on.
There are many ways of becoming a pro. Below are the top ways to get there with some takeaways.
For example: A boxer doesn’t just learn how to hit. A boxer learns how to jump rope to learn hand/foot coordination, speed-bag work to learn hand-eye coordination amongst many others.
Your takeaway: Make sure you’re learning transferable skills that correlate with what you’re doing. The payoff can be a multi-service offering and people want to pay companies that can take care of one or more of their needs. So long as it is in line with the service offering and credible. An example of this would be a contractor who is also an electrician.
My message to you is to master two skills that correlate and become a jack of all trades on others. After all, a “Jack of all trades is a master of none, but better than a master of one.” He or she that knows a little about a lot will be able to add value in many different areas.
Make your money and continuously pick up new skills and become a person of high credibility, become irreplaceable.
I have two guests this week, who have built their influence and credibility in their fields. The host of the podcast The Struggle is Real with Justin Peters. Justin hosts a great show and I really enjoy the episodes. He puts in a ton of research on each guest to put out some quality content. Justin and I share a lot in common, and we can talk for hours on growth, learning, and meaningful work. I was fortunate enough to be on the podcast with Justin, one of the best podcasts I’ve been on and I left a link in the show notes. Check out the podcast if you haven’t already.
Leadership communication and influence expert, Dr. Laura Sicola. Laura has spent over 20 years coaching, training, and speaking on topics such as leadership and public speaking. She has a podcast Speaking to Influence which I listened to that originally caught my attention. She has some great guests and is a great host. Her book Speaking to Influence: Mastering your leadership voice. This book shows you how small changes can make a huge difference.
Thank you for listening to the ValueVerse podcast. We’ll be undergoing a repurpose and name change soon. Same good stories and even more takeaways and better formatting for your listening pleasure.

Welcome back to the ValueVerse podcast. If you like the show please consider leaving a 5-star review.
-Have you ever been told you’ll never amount to much? A time that someone doubted you. Did you believe them and just give up. Or did you use it as fuel?
-When something bad happens you have three choices: You can either let it define you, let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you.
You must have heard the quote:
“Ever tried.
Ever Failed.
No matter.
Try again.
Fail Again.
Fail Better.”
-Samuel Beckett
The difference between you and the person that is doing what you want to do isn’t much. Or maybe you’re already doing that, which is awesome.
It may remind you of this quote:
“Never wish life were easier,
wish that you were better.”
-Jim Rohn
“Every problem is a gift- without problems, we would not grow.”
-Tony Robbins
Lastly, do you value your time, or what do you do with it exactly? Do you spend the days worrying about something out of your control? Or do you roll your sleeves up and get to work on learning a new skill, that language you wanted to learn, or the dance class you wanted to take.
The better version of yourself is waiting on the other side of your problems, distractions, and attitude towards events.
I’ll give you three words that resonated with me: Achieve your goals.
That’s it, nothing more, nothing less. Two awesome guests this week: This week I have a business coach and entrepreneur Simon Meadows who has his own podcast Business Success and Coffee that I was on, a super entertaining and informative podcast. He’s got a great story, and gives some great practical takeaways and tips you can actually use.
I also have Ed Latimore, retired pro boxer, author, and competitive chess player. You can check him out at @edlatimore we clicked on Instagram. He overcame a lot and is putting some serious work in. You may know him from Twitter and several books. He’s as real as they come.
Thank you for listening to the valueverse podcast. I truly appreciate the support. Stay tuned as I constantly refine the show for your listening pleasure. Welcome back to another episode of the ValueVerse and thank you for checking me out and giving me your time. I know it is quite valuable and I appreciate you.
Before you have anything you have to decide what you want: Have the burning desire backed by faith.
Life is a game, not a joke. You have to learn the rules of the game before you can break them. You move up in different levels and certain skills get learned along the way.
A common analogy that is used in business is the cross similarities of sports and nature in the aspects of team and cycles.
In nature, it’s understanding the different types of relationships. Mutualism and Symbiosis.
In basketball, there are several factors in winning a game: Individual Game & Team Game
“The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team.” -Phil Jackson
“Good teams become great ones when the members trust each other enough to surrender the me for the we.” -Phil Jackson
Team can mean anyone, including family.
Another example in nature is the importance of understanding cycles. Spring, summer, fall, and winter. Make long-term decisions in the summer, because the winter always comes.
Make your reason to win for someone else and you. Go for Win/Win.

Welcome back everyone to another episode of the ValueVerse podcast. I’m your host Kawan. ValueVerse, for those that are listening for the first time is a podcast on adding value and basically stands for beneficial words. So if you want to learn and hear some entertaining stories, subscribe to the podcast and I’ll make sure you get some solid takeaways.
This week I have a fascinating guest by the name of Eric PEELON Bignell. Eric has a PhD and is a pragmatic futurist focused on addressing disruption by increasing the creative capacity of individuals, teams, and organizations to ignite change, innovation, and foster continuous growth. Eric will be on the podcast tomorrow August 10, at 6am Pacific Time.
Very interesting episode as we got into:
21st century. * We talked different theories
I’ve always been looking into the future, after talking many personality tests, I’m a believer in a sense that everything is always changing. It’s sometimes tough for us to see that far ahead, and certainly thinking about it can cause quite the stir. You have to have a deep belief that things will go better rather than get worse. Always look for the upside in things.
A good takeaway is to remember when all is lost is to think: the future is now. It’s what happens today, that determines your future. It all goes back to the habits, friends, books, and the new skills you pick up today. When you focus on continuous improvement, this won’t be an issue for you. As you’ll always be ready for change. The future belongs to those that focus on constant and never ending improvement and learn new skills. The question is: Are you ready?
Thank you again for listening to the ValueVerse Podcast. Please subscribe to the show and I’ll have more big things coming your way as I am hooked on adding value to your life.

Overview
As an entrepreneur, Graham Brown, hadn't taken a day off in over 13 years. He had spent all of his time and money working to keep his businesses moving to meet societal expectations. Eventually, Graham got to the point where he recognized that material things did not benefit his individual happiness. This realization persuaded him to sell off his company and the majority of his material things to begin a new adventure and rewrite his story.
Living out of only 3 suitcases for 4 years, Graham began to see what truly made him happy. It wasn't all of the cars, or the 50 employees, or the fancy office space that made him feel successful. In fact, the material things only became liabilities. Limiting aspects of his life that he felt pressured to do, opened up space for Graham to master his own story.
Tune into this week’s episode of ValueVerse to hear more about Graham’s journey. Learn why owning less stuff will bring you more success, how to say no to grow, and how to master your storytelling so others can understand you and your business!

This week's guest is Graham Brown. He’ll be on tomorrow at 6AM Pacific Time. I’ll also be releasing a bonus episode that I talked about last week, which is Harlan Hammack and Simon Meadows this Wednesday August 4th at 530am Pacific Time. Episodes are released every Monday and Tuesday at 6am pacific time and Wednesday at 530am pacific time. That's 3 days a week of content, because I’m hooked on providing you with valuable content.
About
On the episode with Graham, we talked about owning less stuff, some of the things that hold us back.
We then got into the talk of success, and what that means to you. Graham does a great job explaining what that is for him and what society views it as. Everyone has a different definition and feels qualified to tell you what that is. But what is it really, and what is it for you specifically?
Some of the questions that were answered in this episode were:
Finally, what does success really mean?
Ralph Waldo Emerson once wrote:
What is success? To laugh often and much, to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children, to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends, to appreciate the beauty, to find the best in others, to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition, to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
End
This episode was very conversational, insightful and Graham does a great job explaining what all this means. Graham is an author, Ironman finisher, owns a podcast production company and travels the world. He also does a great job calling me out on the end (stay tuned at the end for this pleasant reveal)

With 14 published books available in 20 languages and over 2 million people reached, Randy Gage is a successful Author and Critical Thinker who is passionate about helping others reinvent their lives to achieve the best versions of themselves.
Life has not always been easy for Randy. He spent some time in jail as a teenager, he had several failed business attempts, and he was consistently finding himself in the same bad situations. It wasn't until Randy stopped letting himself fall victim to his own limiting beliefs that he began to see any change. He forced himself to question the core parts of his life so that he could consciously and mindfully decide what he believed for himself, and not what other people had told him. By doing so, Randy was able to take accountability for his past mistakes and redirect his life. He has since then reinvented himself several times.
Tune into this week’s episode of ValueVerse to hear more about Randy Gage’s story. Learn how Randy released himself from a victim mindset, how to challenge the core foundations of your life, and how you can reinvent yourself to be whoever you want to be no matter where you are in life. Jaclyn Steele, self discovery coach, knows that life is constantly throwing curve balls at us. Amidst the divorce, Jaclyn found herself at a crossroads- she could either become a victim or she could come out victorious.
While the falling apart of her family was painful, Jaclyn chose to not let it define her but rather be part of her story in a positive manner. Her parents divorce ultimately put her on the path of self-discovery, which according to Jaclyn, has been the best and most important thing she has ever done. By doing so, Jaclyn realized just how much power she really had over herself and her happiness.

Overview:
Growing up as a model, Christine Handy was heavily attached to the material world. It wasn't until she battled through health issues, including breast cancer, that she realized her looks weren’t everything. With her life completely turning upside down, Christine spent the years she was sick learning who she was on the inside, transforming herself from being selfish to selfless. Christine is adamant that the love from her support system and her faith are what brought her out of the darkest days of her life.
According to Christine, people make decisions in three ways: with compassion, malice, or out of ego. One of the biggest transformations Christine made in her life was learning how to react to everyday things with compassion. By doing so, her life has been filled with so much joy and appreciation.
Tune in to this week's episode of ValueVerse to hear more about Christine’s journey and learn how you can change your life with a little love and faith.
Quotes:
“It really makes a difference what we tell ourselves, what other people tell us, and what we listen to.” (08:05-08:09)
“How I feel matters more than what I do.” (14:49-14:51)
“We react all day to people you have to ask yourself, “am I reacting out of compassion… ego- which is pride. Is our pride wounded? Or malice. Are we going to get back at somebody? If you can think about that each day, and throughout your day, over time your decisions change so dramatically and you start to make decisions all out of compassion and all out of love.” (18:23- 18:53)

Description Kawan, the host of ValueVerse explains the theory of open mindedness with the help of the book: Principles by Ray Dalio. Open mindedness by definition is being receptive to arguments or ideas. It also allows for learning new skills, points of views and new strategies that can lead to advancement. Have you ever thought that you knew everything about something or a topic and later found out you were terribly wrong? or even learned something new? Ray Dalio says: "ask yourself, am I seeing this just through my own eyes?" Being open minded can help you be more flexible, get to the best answers and decisions to help steer you in the right direction.

ValueVerse host Kawan talks about blind spots and highlights the book Principles by Ray Dalio where the author refers to the Ego barrier and the Blind spot barrier. Understanding and recognizing them can open up your horizons in life, business, decision making and planning. These are some of the benefits of having business partners, spouses, or friends that can help provide different perspectives, thus leading to better outcomes. This excerpt is from the book Principles by Ray Dalio. I highly recommend it.
Blind spots can cause limitations, lack of information, progress and who knows, something that could be a game changer if you were exposed to the knowledge beforehand. Eliminating blind spots is key to unveiling truths, strategy and other areas you want to open your mind to. Overview:
In his 20’s Nate Duke, author of You’ll Never Change, found himself at rock bottom. After battling a crippling drug and gambling addiction he had lost everything: his business, his friends, and now his freedom. After stealing a car and being sentenced to six months in jail, Nate finally realized he could change his life for the better. Ever since then, Nate has got his life back on track and helps coach others to do the same,
Nate said that the biggest part of changing his life was learning how to forgive himself. For his entire life, Nate had an unhealthy relationship with himself. Not having any trust or belief in himself is what caused him to make the decisions he was making.. It wasn’t until after he had hard and truthful conversations with himself did he let himself out of the mental prison he put himself in and start the healing process. While Nate has control over his life now, it took a long time of consistent effort to get to where he is.
Nate wants listeners to know that change is transferable and you can change any aspect of your life that you want. A big part of that change is the practice of gratitude. Not only does it make us feel that what we have is enough, it helps us realize that we are enough.
If you are struggling or want to change any aspect of your life, this episode is for you. Tune in to this week’s episode of ValueVerse for an honest and safe conversation surrounding struggle and change. Remember, no matter where you are in life, you have the capability to choose the direction you want to go.

In this episode, Kawan talks about the importance of thinking and perspective and how that ultimately affects you and your trajectory in life. Your thoughts become behaviors, behaviors become actions, actions lead to habits and habits lead to patterns. Which ultimately dictate where you end up, all as the result of your thinking. Overview:
Lane Kawaoka, sophisticated real estate investor, started his journey back when he was in his early 20’s. Like most Americans, he was taught the traditional wealth building dogma: work, save money, and buy a house to live in. With a job that kept him consistently on the road, Lane used his first home primarily as a rental. It wasn’t long before Lane realized he could quit his job and make a lot more “beer money” if he had a few more places to rent. 10 years and 3,500+ properties later, Lane has created a larger stream of passive income than he could have ever imagined.
According to Lane, the most important thing for anyone who is interested in real estate investment is to educate yourself on how to become sophisticated in it. Too many people think that buying a house to live in or buying homes in “sexy markets” is the way to making top dollar on an investment. Lane says that the best markets for investors are the secondary and tertiary markets which are often not close to where you live.
Tune in to this week’s episode of ValueVerse to hear more about Lane’s journey, the rules of smart investing, and how to make your piles of cash flow!
Quotes:
“Then I realized that sophisticated investors don’t buy properties in Seattle, California, Hawaii, New York, Boston.. all these sexy markets, they buy off cash flow.” (03:31-03:41)
“Sophisticated investors are able to create teams of property managers remotely and run this stuff remotely. After all, they’re buying commodities.” (07:40-07:48)
“When you own your own house you’re the one putting your heart, sweat, tears, and sweat equity into paying that damn thing off and paying down your mortgage. But when you own a rental, this family is doing that for you.” (09:07- 09:20)

“More important than what I am doing for a living is who I am becoming,” says Dallen Reber. In this episode of ValueVerse, Dallen shares his story of self mastery and finding his purpose.
After graduating with his masters, Dallen worked as a sports scientist for two years. During this time, Dallen had a huge realization, he wasn’t happy. He wasn't happy with his job or the direction his life was heading. In order to redirect his life, Dallen found a lot of help in journaling. Spending a few moments a day answering tough questions, Dallen was able to define the person he truly wanted to be. This paradigm shift in his life inspired him to create his self mastery journal. A journal that takes 2-5 minutes out of your day to ask empowering questions and encourage empowering answers.
Don’t wait too long to identify what you truly want to do. Tune in to this week’s episode of ValueVerse to hear how you can shift your life with just a few minutes of your day!
Quotes:

“I can tell you at the end of the day how productive that day was by how my morning was. Because when I don't start in a clear headspace, then I'm jumping from task to task, I am not as productive, and I just don’t get as much done.” (13:31- 13:46)

Welcome back to the weekly takeaway. Today your host Kawan talks about resistance. We all have it, a block that holds us back from doing the things that might actually benefit us. "Make mistakes of ambition, not of sloth"
Overview
“The most important thing in any company is the human spirit” says Lonnie Mayne, author and award winning keynote speaker. For 30 years, Lonnie has been helping workplaces perform at their highest levels. In this episode of ValueVerse, Lonnie shares with host Kawan his winning philosophy: the red shoe experience.
Inspired by both his father and his uncle, Lonnie knew that you could be highly successful in an inspiring way. While a lot of young leaders are under the impression that they need to do whatever it takes to make it to the top, Lonnie says that is only a short term solution. In order to have long term results, Lonnie explains that workplaces need to create a culture based on awareness, kindness and respect.
Lonnie’s famous red shoe philosophy is based around the idea of standing out for the positive. He tells Kawan that you don’t need to make huge changes, but find small ways in which you can stand out. Lonnie says this could be as small as taking the extra step in your emails.
Tune in to this week’s episode of ValueVerse to get ideas of how you can humanize the work you and your employees do by creating a red shoe experience for everyone.
Quotes:
“My mission was to compete and succeed yet do it in a way that was meaningful, and had meaningful connections along the way.” (03:33- 03:41)
“The most important thing in any company is the human spirit.” (04:39-04:42)
“If you can be aware and if you can be kind and respectful it doesn't mean you're not competitive, it doesnt mean youre’ not going to hold people accountable, if you can do those two things , it absolutely creates a red shoe experience.” (07:41- 07:53)
“There are those people who believe that they have to do whatever it takes to get to the top and I think it’s a short slide, I think you can do that and be successful quickly because youre maybe stepping over people or stepping around people or stepping behind people, but ultimately at the end of the day, that comes back to you.” (16:05- 16:29)
“It is completely possible to be kind, to be respectful, to hold people accountable and to watch them perform at the highest level.” (18:47-18:56)

Welcome back to the weekly takeaway! What gets you excited? Tune in as we take a look at what that means, it's different for everyone. The most important thing to do is follow what gives you joy. Financial success is only one aspect, but may not be the end goal. For some, it's to leave the world a better place. What is it for you?
Overview:
“Even when change is logically positive, it's emotionally scary” says Mark Graban, seasoned author, speaker and coach. In this episode of ValueVerse, Kawan and Mark talk about the impact that incremental change can have on the success of a business.
Mark says that one of the biggest mistakes that companies make is creating an environment of blame. When people are afraid to be blamed, there is more room for mistakes. Instead of punishing and condemning employees for their mishaps, Mark says a company needs to focus on three main things: problem solving, leadership and culture.
Business leaders often want to see big change and growth in their businesses that most of the time they overlook small details. Mark wants people to recognize that it is the small changes that add up overtime to create large growth, not the other way around.
This week on ValueVerse, you will be given advice on how to grow your business and find continuous success by using the small things.
Quotes:
“Blaming individuals for problems that are clearly systemic in nature, that doesn’t drive improvement.” (05:53- 6:00)
“React less, lead better, improve more.” (08:05- 08:09)
“Even when a change is logically positive, it's emotionally scary.” (18: 47- 18:52)

Welcome to ValueVerse's newest edition. Every Friday your host, Kawan, will be releasing a quick takeaway to finish off your week on a strong and positive note.
This week, host Kawan, is focused on the concept of mastery, on both a surface level and a deep level. We all owe it to ourselves to follow our dreams. What special thing do you bring to the table?
Overview:
Tax season is upon us and Host Kawan brings in a special guest just in time. Julio Gonzalez, Founder and CEO of ETS- Engineered Tax Services, discusses the value that a good accountant can bring to your business.
After many years helping Fortune 500 companies reach their goals, Julio wanted to bring that level of tax sophistication to small businesses. His expertise has helped generate over a million dollars of tax credits to business owners during the COVID crisis alone. These small businesses have been able to keep their employees paid and their doors open. Julio shares one key to success that companies like Amazon and Microsoft have: tax credits. There are so many ways to generate more wealth for your small business on the federal, state, and local level and nearly all entrepreneurs don’t take advantage of them!
Most small business owners are under the misconception that hiring an accountant is an expense. Julio says this couldn’t be farther from the truth. Knowing the numbers is one of the most critical pieces of operating a profitable business; hiring a good accountant is the wisest investment you can make for your growing business.
Tune in to this episode of ValueVerse for Julio’s expert advice on how numbers can help you preserve the wealth you have worked so hard to build.
Quotes:
“Accounting can be an investment. If you get a good accounting team or a good accountant, they’ll produce 10x the expense in return. (04:28-04:37)
I know so many entrepreneurs that have amazing ideas and do so well, but if they knew their numbers and the accounting and tax side of it, they would be a lot further ahead.” (07:42-07:52)
“Don’t think of accounting as an expense, think of it as an investment.” (08:07-08:11)
“Do some research, find a good accountant and you can preserve some of that wealth.” (21:13-21:15)

Overview:
After getting a job in a hospital she once was a patient of, Paris Prynkiewicz felt drawn to launch her podcast, Crooked Illness, to share her story in hopes to inspire others to eliminate the stigma surrounding mental health.
At 19 years old, Paris was given a diagnosis of Bipolar I after she was hospitalized. But after graduating college a few years later with her degree in psychology, and working in that same hospital, she saw things in two lights. It wasn’t until then that she recognized the stigmas had led her to live a life full of guilt and fear. Her diagnosis made her completely afraid to be around others and accept herself. To overcome her greatest fear, she felt it was necessary to bring awareness to the community about mental health with the use of not only her story, but the stories of others as well.
For Paris, her go-to strategies to maintain her mental happiness are to practice gratitude and move her body every single day. Consistently taking some time to examine all the things and people she has in her own life leaves less room for negative self-talk. These habits have helped her shift her focus and energy to gain clarity so she can crush her goals instead of being crushed by her old limiting beliefs.
Tune in to this week’s episode of ValueVerse for a genuine and open conversation surrounding one of today’s most talked about conversations. Mental health is without a doubt a conversation that everyone needs to be having. Paris graciously reminds listeners that we all have struggles and “it’s okay and normal to not have everything figured out.” There is no better time than now to take charge of your own happiness!
Quotes:
“Look at the things you have already been able to do, and look at the places you’ve gone, the people you’ve met.. look at the people already in your life.” (12:01-12:08)
“When we shift our energy and our focus on the things we do have, it helps us get in a better place and get in a better mindset in order to get our goals crushed this year instead of being crushed by our limiting beliefs.” (12:28- 12:44)
“It’s normal and it's okay to not have everything figured out.” (13:57-13:59)
“To move away from being more problem focused to more solution focused, the biggest part of that is making these things in our life that are helping us grow a habit and eliminating things that are hurting us or holding us back.” (17:44-18:02)

“It's almost criminal that anybody would be embarrassed by who they work for,” says Dan Edds, managing consultant and author of Leveraging the Genetics of Leadership . A conversation with an employee embarrassed to work for her company triggered Dan to pursue his passion: improving senior leadership. In this episode of ValueVerse guest, Daniel Edds takes listeners through his journey of discovering the keys to a successful work environment by examining how high performing companies approach the concept of leadership.
For Dan, he compares leadership to DNA, both of which are networks of systems unique to each person or place. High producing work environments all have one thing in common: solid leadership at the top level. It is simply not possible to create a sustainable workforce based out of fear.
Whether you are a four-star general in the military, a CEO of a hospital, or an elementary school principal, it doesn't really matter. Dan tells Kawan anybody can create work-place excellence by using their leadership properly; all it takes is starting with a singular idea to cultivate cultural DNA.
Tune in to episode five of ValueVerse to hear guest Dan Edds explain the necessary components of a happy workplace and how you and your company can design your own DNA to give everyone the best opportunity to be successful.

Rachel Khona-writer and entrepreneur- has had a passion for words since she was a child. Over the course of several jobs with large publishers and magazines, Rachel could easily see the monotony within the industry. After being broken up with via sticky note, Rachel felt inspired to take her writing skills and create them into something that represents her best: non-conventional greeting cards.
For Rachel, the biggest piece of advice she would give to any one with aspirations to start a business is to stay true to yourself. Despite people giving her wrong advice or doubting her product, Rachel knew that nobody else could believe in her dream more than herself. She bravely took control of her business by cutting out things that were not working for her, allowing for her to spend more time doing tasks that highlight her strengths. On the third episode of ValueVerse, Josh Wilson discusses something most people dread talking about: failures.
For Josh, he has learned the most valuable lessons from his failures; without them, he would not have found his success. A couple of unsuccessful businesses and a recession left Josh unable to provide for his growing family and contemplating whether he could keep on with life. Completely down and out on himself, Josh reluctantly accepted a job that did not fulfill his mission. His entrepreneurial spirit is not a force to be reckoned with and he soon accepted what he was truly meant for. Josh grasped how essential it was for him to stay true to himself and his belief systems.
