Getting to know Kyle: "My name is Kyle Brewer and I'm a person in long term recovery from drugs and alcohol. I'm 30 years old and my recovery birthday is July 10, 2017. I spent 15 years of my life in active addiction. It's only by the grace of God that I'm alive today. I'm a certified Peer Recovery Support Specialist (PR) and 1 of 10 certified Peer Support Supervisors (PRPS) in the state. I have a Bachelors of Science (BS) in Addiction Studies from UCA. I was the first Peer Support Specialist in Arkansas to be stationed in an emergency department. I've led the development and implementation of peer support in a hospital setting, including the state's first program at UAMS which impacted approximately 600 people in 1 year. I'm supervising the development and implementation of a Peer Support Program in the Dewitt, AR District Court. I'm actively involved in the recovery community in Arkansas and around the country. God has given me the gift of recovery and allowed me to take my past and give it purpose by helping others break free from the vicious cycle of addiction. "

In 2019, Wendy was nominated by her professional peers and appointed by Governor Asa Hutchinson to serve on the Arkansas Board of Examiners in Counseling, the licensure board for Professional Counselors and Marriage and Family Therapists. She is a member of the Trauma Recovery Network, a group of mental health professionals specializing in EMDR, and she volunteers with ArLEAP (Arkansas Law Enforcement Assistance Program), which provides peer and professional mental health services to first responders.
