On our way back from West Point, MS, we fired up the podcast board and recorded an episode with our good buddy, Thomas Gilpin. Thomas is a lot of things; he's a hunter, a co-owner and guide of Ole Dog Outfitters in Alberta, a surfing and taco connoisseur, and a part-time paleontologist and shark tooth hunter when he's back home in South Carolina. He's packed a lot into his life and he's not close to slowing down. Grateful to call him a friend. We think you'll enjoy hearing from him!

In this episode, Rob and RT Bailey are on the back porch of Feathers Chapel to talk about the Nancy's Vision Youth Turkey Hunt that took place in Pennsylvania the last weekend of April. RT went up to PA to spend time with Jeff and Hunter Wallis and Josh Grossenbacher and film the weekend. It was a special time.

Nancy’s Vision was created in memory of Nancy Rucker Wallis, who passed away unexpectedly in April 2020.  Her love of the outdoors, in particular her interest in her son Hunter’s outdoor passions and career, led naturally to the creation of Nancy’s Vision Youth Turkey Hunt.  Nancy dedicated her life to a career in the medical field because of her compassion for others, especially children.  Her years as a pediatric nurse created a lifelong desire to help sick children and subsequently led to the decision to donate all proceeds from this hunt to the Catch-A-Dream Foundation.  The Catch-A-Dream-Foundation, based in Starkville, Mississippi, grants once-in-a-lifetime hunting and fishing experiences to children 18 years old or younger who have life-threatening medical conditions.

There are years in life when it feels like not much has happened and then there a moments in life when it feels like years have happened.

We've been away from the podcast for a minute, not because we've really wanted to but because a lot of life has been happening in the Rolling Thunder Family these past three or four weeks. Alright - you're going to want to take out a pencil and a piece of paper for this one. After being stood up the night before, Rob and Spence finally catch up with Brandon Pendergrass and Jeff Lovan of the Chasing Spring Project. If you've been following along, you know that things have been pretty "tough" for the guys at their spring quarters in Hawaii. As a matter of fact, the spring just about couldn't be getting off to a better start for this bunch and we're excited to share more about what they've got going on.

2,500 miles off the western coast of the United States, Hawaii is much more than sand, surfing, and beaches. Hawaii is home to a thriving rainforest, tall mountain peaks, large cattle ranches, and some world class turkey hunting. Hard to beat that!

In this episode, Rob sits down with the whole gang at Mallard Estates Outfitter in Brownsville, TN to talk about how the season has been so far and what it takes to be an outfitter. It isn't just showing up and killing ducks, you have to be a booking agent, a farmer, a carpenter, a welder, an electrician, a psychiatrist (bartender), a chauffer, a comedian, and eventually you get to be a duck hunter. If you can't be all of those things, you have to assemble a team who is, and they've done just that. We hear from Blake and Monte McWilliams, among others, and learn about the history of Mallard Estates and about how far they have come in just a few years.
