Anchor Passage: (Psalm 142, 1 Samuel 22)
Where do you run in a trial? Surrounded by enemies on all sides and forced to hide in a cave, David poured his heart out to God. He speaks honestly about his worries and complaints, but ultimately rests in the truth that God is his refuge. Join us as we discover how God invites us to run to Him in our trials!
Anchor Passage: (Philippians 2:5-11; Ephesians 3:20-21)
Join us as we see how Jesus calls us to serve one another in humility as we fix our eyes on Him and His Kingdom!
Anchor Passage: (Numbers 26-27; 36)The second generation of God’s people stands on the edge of the Promised Land, counted in a census after their parents died in the wilderness. Right in the middle of that list of names, five daughters step forward with a bold request, asking to be included in the inheritance of land for God’s people. Join us as we discover what the outcome teaches us about who is included in God’s promise today!
Anchor Passage: (Numbers 22-25)The story of Balaam—a pagan prophet who says the right things outwardly, but really seeks personal gain and power—is referenced three times in the New Testament. His heart is set against God’s people, even after God miraculously uses a talking donkey to offer correction. Join us as we see what this story teaches us about our heart posture and how God protects His people!
Anchor Passage: (Numbers 21:4-9)God’s people grumble against God and Moses, and venomous snakes fill the camp. But those who look to God’s gracious remedy are spared. Join us as we see how this story foreshadows the coming of Jesus, who takes away our sin when we behold and trust in Him and His work on the cross!
Anchor Passage: (Numbers 20:1-13)In a dry land, God tells Moses to call out water from a rock to provide for His people. Moses strikes the rock in anger, adding to what God declared and disqualifying himself from entering the Promised Land. Join us as we see how this miracle displays God's holiness and points us to our need for a Savior!
Anchor Passage: (Numbers 16)A rebellion rises against Moses’ leadership, and consequences strike: the Earth opens, fire falls, and plagues spread. But Aaron and Moses intercede for the rebellious people, and the Lord shows mercy. All of us are rebellious by nature—and we too need someone to intercede for us. Join us as we see how Jesus is our Mediator, standing between us and death!
Anchor Passage: (Numbers 13-14)
When God’s people reach the Promised Land, scouts survey the land and return in a panic, doubting that God can defeat the enemies they see. Yet two of the scouts have a different attitude, believing in God’s power and promise. Join us as we discover how to rest in God’s strength and look to Him with awe!
Anchor Passage: (Numbers 10:35-36, 11-12)
God’s people had seen His power when He rescued and led them out of Egypt. But in the wilderness, they doubt and question His goodness. They complain about hardships on the journey, Moses’ leadership, and the food sent from Heaven. Join us as we see what Numbers teaches us about how complaining affects our hearts and our world.
Anchor Passage: (Numbers 1:47-55, 9:15-23)
God is with His people in the wilderness. A pillar of cloud and fire rests above the Tabernacle, the holy building where He dwells. When the pillar moves, the people move; when it stays, they stay—always looking to His presence to guide them on their journey. Join us as we see how God dwells with us and guides us today!
Anchor Passage: (Ecclesiastes 12:9-14)
After exploring every avenue for meaning and trying to discover what life is all about, the author of Ecclesiastes reaches his conclusion: “Fear God and keep His commandments.” What would life be like if you woke up with this as your daily mission? Join us and see how this invitation is for you!
Anchor Passage: (Ecclesiastes 9:1-10, 11, 12:1-8)
Ecclesiastes teaches that knowing you will die will help you live well. What does this mean? Join us as we see how if we trust in God, He rescues and redeems our life and our death!
Anchor Passage: (Ecclesiastes 7-8, 9:11-18, 10)In our complex life, there are days of prosperity and days of adversity. God oversees both—and will use both in our lives to transform us. Join us as we see how surrendering to God gives us the peace to enjoy the days He has given us!
Anchor Passage: (Ecclesiastes 5:8-16)
Ecclesiastes describes a complex relationship with money. If we enjoy it as a gift, we can rejoice. If we make it our god, it’s meaningless. What does it look like for us to treat our money wisely? Join us as we discover what Ecclesiastes has to say!
Anchor Passage: (Ecclesiastes 4:4-5:7)
Work and rest. Both are gifts from God, but they aren’t worthy of our worship—always asking for more from us and unable to satisfy. We are tempted to swing between workaholism and laziness, but there is a better way to live. Join us as we learn how to view both rest and work looking to the only One who is worthy of our awe!
Anchor Passage: (Ecclesiastes 3-4:3)How do we make the most of our time? In an imperfect world, we can still enjoy the seasons of life and make the most of them because God is inviting us to be in awe of Him. Join us as we see how we can hold tightly to Him through every season!
Anchor Passage: (Ecclesiastes 1-2)
Ecclesiastes gives us the account of a man who had everything and declared it to be fleeting and futile. His raw and honest reflection helps us see the difference between treating life as gain and receiving life as a gift. Join us as we see how the King of Kings rescues us from the futility of futilities!
Anchor Passage: (1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 17, 20-22, 57)
The tomb is empty. Sin and death are defeated. Jesus Christ is alive! Join us this Easter at Mariners Church as we celebrate the good news of Christ’s Resurrection and the joy and hope He brings us.
Anchor Passage: (John 19:16-30, Matthew 27:32-44)
All other world religions say “strive” or “work your way to the top.” The cross makes the Christian faith unique because Jesus yells out, “It is finished.” He wins us to Himself through weakness. He accomplishes our victory through death. Join us as we see how His death is the death of our eternal death if we believe in Him!
Anchor Passage: (Matthew 26:36-46)
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus is filled with anguish, so much so that He sweats drops of blood. He’s overwhelmed by what’s in front of Him—His sacrifice on the cross—but He obeys the Father, crying out, “Not my will, but Yours.” Join us as we discover how His obedience becomes ours when we believe in Him!
Anchor Passage: (John 14-16, Acts 1:8)
Jesus promises His disciples that even after He leaves them, they will never be alone: God will send the Holy Spirit, who will be with us forever. Jesus even insists it is better for us to have the Spirit within us than Jesus beside us. Join us as we see how the Spirit comforts, convicts, and sends us to reach every nation with the good news of Jesus!
Anchor Passage: (John 13:1-17)
In the upper room, Jesus does the unthinkable—He washes His disciples’ feet. To His disciples, Jesus’ actions feel wrong, backward, and beneath Him in dignity. But Jesus insists the path to real greatness is found in serving others. Join us as we see how He serves us too and how we can respond in service to others around us!
Anchor Passage: (Mark 11:11, 15-18)
We see the same Jesus who welcomes children fashion a whip and clear out God’s temple, turning over the shopkeepers’ tables. What seems to be a contradiction in His character is really the same passion—to see people encounter His grace. He wanted everything that got in the way of people encountering Him removed, everything that dishonored Him turned over. Join us as we discover how He wants to turn over tables in our lives today.
Anchor Passage: (Luke 19:28-44)On Palm Sunday, Jesus arrives in Jerusalem as the promised King—humble, riding on a donkey, just as the prophet Zechariah had predicted hundreds of years before. Even though the crowd celebrates His arrival, we see Jesus weep for the city, knowing they've missed His true purpose. Join us as we discover how Jesus is a very different King, the only One we really need!
In the Scripture we see that God has set the times and places where people live (Acts 17:26) and that governing leaders are to restrain evil and protect the people under their care (Romans 13:1-3). We also see God command His people to love the immigrant as he loves himself (Leviticus 19:33-34). Christians sometimes have different views on borders and immigration, and we will look at three biblical tensions to hold.
Anchor Passage: (1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Romans 12:1, Psalm 139:13-16)
Gym memberships, tattoos, plastic surgery. Our Southern California culture is fixated on body image, looking young, and longevity of life. How should we view our bodies? What should we do with them? What wisdom does the Scripture offer us? Join us as we explore how God views our bodies and what it means to honor God with them!
Anchor Passage: (John 17:20-23, Ephesians 4:1-6, Mark 9:38-40)
Jesus prayed that Christians would be “one,” yet there are thousands of Christian denominations worldwide. What happened? Join us as we look at the history of the Church and discover how what unites followers of Jesus is greater than what divides!
Spiritual gifts are often divided into three categories: speaking, serving, and sign gifts. It is the sign gifts—gifts like tongues, prophecy, and healing—that are a source of debate. Some have wrongly made Christians feel incomplete if they don’t have these sign gifts, and others have wrongly made some Christians feel weird for using the sign gifts. Join us as we look at these gifts and see how we can all use our gifts to serve others!
Anchor Passage: (Acts 5:27-29, Romans 13:1-3)The apostle Paul instructed Christians in Rome to submit to all the governing authorities, and he wrote those words when Nero, an evil tyrant who killed his own mother and burned his own city, was the emperor. Yet there are other passages where God’s people refused to obey their earthly leaders. How do we know when to obey and when to disobey the leaders of our day and the leaders in the land? Join us as we look at the wisdom Scripture offers!
Anchor Passage: (Hebrews 9:27, 2 Corinthians 5:1-9)
One of the great mysteries of life is how we are able to live without thinking much about death, though we all will die. How can we live with hope, even though we know life will end one day? What happens to us after we die? Join us as we discover what the Bible says about death and our hope for those who trust in Jesus!

Anchor Passage: Acts 17:11There was a time people needed to hear “it is ok to not be ok,” so they would seek help and benefit from community and from therapy if they needed it.
We now live in what many have called a therapeutic culture. Content about mental health, self-diagnosis via social media, and “therapy speak” have all skyrocketed in recent years, leading some to declare we are living in an overcorrection. That not all therapy is good.
How do we know the difference between good therapy and bad therapy? What wisdom does the Scripture give us?
We are putting that question on the table this weekend. First Time? Start Here: https://rock.marinerschurch.org/connectcard

Anchor Passage: 1 Kings 2:1-4There is a fight in our culture over masculinity. In one corner is the argument that men have been feminized and the lack of “real men” is hurting our society.
