The first time someone told me this, I was floored. That moment was a game changer for me and I knew instantly that I wanted to use my story to help as many people as possible. Part of that mission is providing a space for other people who have also grown up in traumatic situations to share their story of conquering what could have defeated them. This podcast is a place for the underdog, but as we like to call ourselves: OVERCOMERS. This is where myself and my guests discuss the odds that we have moved past and beat to become people we are today.
This story right away just blew me away by how many twist and turns there were in just a short amount of time. Meet Tara, and take some time today to listen her story of fear colliding with faith. As I listened to her story I was both on the edge of my seat AND my jaw on the ground as I tried to comprehend all that was happening in her life at the same time. Now that she is transitions from one journey to the next you will learn some powerful lessons and takeaways that will impact your personal journey no matter how far you are into it. She is an example of courage and bravery and also a testament to what faith can do when you lean into it. There is no doubt after listening to this Tara is a warrior and one we should all aspire to be.

Donna Pollard dares to believe in a world where young girls and women can be free from abuse and exploitation.
A native of Kentucky -- a state burdened with thousands of cases of abuse and a history of child marriage -- she is leading the charge for change. Donna successfully advocated for improved legislation in her home state and many others that put an end to child marriage through
parental consent and continues to advocate for this protective change both nationally and internationally. She most recently traveled to Finland as the keynote speaker for the Zonta International Centennial Conference, shedding light on the devastating implications of child marriage and critically needed global reform.
As a survivor herself, Donna realizes the need for healing, support, and encouragement for past victims. She founded Survivors’ Corner, a nonprofit that empowers those ready to share their survival experiences with the goal of breaking abusive cycles and challenging policies and laws that perpetuate crimes against women and children.
Her journey through the trauma of child marriage and exploitation can be accessed through the A&E Documentary, "I Was a Child Bride," interviews and articles in Good Housekeeping, Glamour, NPR, Stateline, Fox News, US News and World Report, PBS, CBS News, the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting, the Lexington Herald-Leader, and the Louisville Courier-Journal, among many other national and international outlets, such as The Guardian and Daily Mail. She is a frequent panelist, speaker, and trainer, and has given numerous keynote speeches as well as testimony before legislative committees.
Donna is a mother of two girls, a business professional, and an avid advocate for child welfare and breaking abusive cycles in families.

Paige had just finished sending off their 4th daughter to college and was enjoying her work as a professor in various positions at a few local colleges when she received what had to be a "Bad Joke". The news of her biopsy was positive and her world was suddenly turned upside down. After having a moment to break down she had to make the next tough call and break the news to her husband. Paige and her husband had raised their daughters and were getting ready to embark on the next season of life when cancer came knocking. Shannon Preston had battled weight issues most of her life until one day she made the decision that enough was enough. While on this journey she was introduced to running and started training for local running events. When one of her former co workers invited her to compete on a Hood to Coast team Shannon was immediately taken in by the event. Sounds like that should be where the story ends, but then one day Shannon decided to get a lump checked out that had been on the back of her mind a for bit and suddenly her life was turned upside down. Listen as she shares her amazing story of how running possibly saved her life and the decision to keep training gave her purpose and drove her to overcome cancer. Shannon Preston is an "Overcomer"!

A survivor and alumni of the foster care system, Shenandoah Chefalo is also the co-founder of the #4600andCounting, a grass-roots movement to bring awareness and change to the missing youth of foster care. She is also a faculty member and trainer at The Center for Trauma Resilient Communities a new initiative by the Crossnore School and Children’s Home to help organization translate the science of trauma and adversity.
In additional to her multiple award winning book, Garbage Bag Suitcase, she also wrote an e-book entitled Setting Your Vision and Defining Your Goals, and is also working on her next manuscript, Hiking for Stillness.

Today we get to sit down with a great cup of coffee and listen to this amazing story from Allison Zimmerman. Allison has been on the mission field for 30 years and started the first recovery programs in Guam.
While overseas as a missionary, Allison received a call that mothers never want to get and that was that her son had been in a devastating hit and run accident with a dump truck. Listen to her story as she shares from the time she heard the news to where they are today.

It was a cold Wednesday morning on the Pickleball courts as I showed up to teach a beginners clinic. As I walked up I noticed one brave soul who came to learn how to play this amazing game called Pickleball. I thought to myself "Well at least there is one person out there as crazy as me." But what would follow during our lesson as we took a break and talked for minute would change my life.
