My mask became my survival tool and eventually my entire identity. I realized in my adult years that I had no idea who I actually was. I spent my entire life creating a persona that would hide my home life and the darkness inside me.
Your trauma does not deserve to control you. Take control of yourself and your life and put in the work. It is so worth it. Do it for you.
Rage is real, depression is real, anxiety is real. There are many things that come from unresolved trauma but these things do not have to control you. They do not have to be your identity.
Depression is dark and some days the battle is harder than other days. Reframe your mindset, don’t let it win. Depression is not your identity, the feeling of sadness is flowing through you, but it is not you.
Children who grew up in hard environments often act out. Stop focusing so much on the behavior, we need to focus on WHY the behavior is happening.
