What if the life you worked so hard to build isn't the life you want anymore — not because it's bad, not because you failed, but because you've changed?
This is a bonus episode before the quiet of summer, and it's an honest one. If the Clarity Season stirred something in you that you weren't expecting, this is the conversation underneath it: the restlessness so many people feel and so few say out loud — and why you have permission to name it.
In this episode:
A line from the episode: "The person who said yes to this life five years ago is not the same person living it today… Wanting something different doesn't mean you failed. It means you grew."
Scripture woven through: the seasons of Moses, David, Ruth, and Paul — and the moment in John 6 where Jesus gives the disciples the freedom to walk away, and Peter answers, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life." (ESV)
A question to sit with this week: If there were no guilt, no consequences, no obligation — what would you actually want? Write the answer down without editing it.
Before you go: This wraps our spring season. We'll be back in the fall with a new season on wholeness — living and leading from an integrated life instead of a fragmented one.
If this episode met you where you are, the newsletter is where the conversation keeps going — that's where I go deeper, one honest question at a time. Subscribe at www.danitacummins.com, and give yourself permission to keep showing up.

The Clarity Season finale. Eight questions to cut through the noise — meant to be sat with, not just listened to.
We've covered a lot of ground this season: what clarity is and isn't, what's ours to carry and what isn't, the discipline of subtraction, claiming our actual authority, breaking the reactive cycle, leading through the fog, and the discipline of presence. We close where every good season of growth begins — with questions. Because sometimes the clarity you're looking for doesn't come from having the right answers. It comes from asking the right questions.
In this finale, Danita walks through eight questions that clear the static:
Your invitation as we close the season: pick just one and sit with it this week. Don't rush to answer it — write it down, pray through it, talk it over with someone you trust, and see what surfaces.
This is the end of the Clarity Season, but not quite the last word. Before the fall, there's a bonus episode coming — Permission to Want Something Different — for anyone this season stirred something in. Then we'll be back in the fall with a new season on wholeness and resilience: what it means to live from an integrated life rather than a fragmented one.

A quieter episode on the discipline of presence — what it costs to live mentally elsewhere, and what it looks like to actually be where you are.
We've spent this whole season naming what's ours, subtracting what isn't, and learning to lead through the fog. This episode goes somewhere quieter, because all of that work depends on something we rarely talk about: whether you're actually present.
In this episode, Danita explores:
This is the second-to-last episode of the Clarity Season. Next week we close with the season finale — the questions that clear the static. Because sometimes the clarity we're looking for doesn't come from having the right answers. It comes from asking the right questions.

Clarity Season - Episode 6 of 8
Episode 76: You're Not Failing. You're in the Fog.
There's a particular kind of leadership weight that doesn't get talked about enough — when you know what's yours to carry, you know what you're called to do, but you have no idea how it's going to unfold.
The role is clear. The path isn't.
Maybe you're leading a team through change. Navigating a marriage you don't know how to repair. Raising kids through a chapter that has no playbook. Stewarding a calling you can't see the next step of.
You're not confused about your responsibility. You just don't know how to fulfill it.
In this episode, Danita names what so many faith-driven leaders carry quietly, and offers five practices for moving forward when the path is fog:
A line from the episode:
"You don't need the whole staircase. You just need to take the next step."

You started the day knowing what mattered. And then the texts came. And the emails. And the crisis that somehow became yours to solve.
By the end of the day, you were exhausted — but you couldn't name a single thing you did that actually moved your life forward.
That's not faithfulness. That's a treadmill.
In this episode of the Clarity Season, we're talking about reactive living — what it actually costs you, why it feels so much like productivity, and three posture shifts that help you stop living from what's loud and start living from what's actually important.
We also spend time in Mark 1, where Jesus — with real people needing him and real urgency pressing in — chooses his mission anyway. That moment has something to say to every one of us.
In this episode:
Scripture referenced: Mark 1:35
This week's practice: Identify one recurring reactive pattern in your life. Ask: What is the pattern underneath this? What boundary could I set? What priorities need to come first? Then try something different — even if it's small.

There is a specific kind of exhaustion that comes from leading outside your actual authority — and most of us have been there. You're pouring energy into decisions that aren't yours, influence you haven't yet earned, or systems too many levels above you to touch. Meanwhile, the things that genuinely belong to you go unattended.
In this episode — the fourth in the Clarity Season — Danita explores what it means to lead from your actual authority. Not the authority you wish you had. Not the authority you think you deserve. The authority that is genuinely, faithfully yours.
She walks through three dimensions of authority — given, earned, and spiritual — and four practical principles for leading well within your actual scope. And she brings it all back to a question worth sitting with: Are you using the authority you do have, or are you too focused on what you can't control to steward what's already in your hands?
In This Episode

2 Corinthians 10 — Paul on staying within the boundaries God assigned to him
This Week's Reflection
Find a quiet place. Grab a pen. Write down the three dimensions of authority — given, earned, spiritual — and honestly assess:
And then the harder question: Am I using the authority I do have, or am I so focused on what I can't control that I'm neglecting what I can?

What if the clarity you've been searching for won't come from adding anything — it'll come from taking something away?
In this episode of Entrusted to Lead, Danita Cummins explores the counterintuitive practice of strategic subtraction — the intentional act of eliminating good things to make room for the best things. If you're a faith-driven leader who feels overwhelmed, stretched thin, or stuck in decision fatigue, this episode was made for you.
We live in a culture that equates growth with addition. More programs, more initiatives, more commitments. But Danita has seen the cost of that approach up close — in nonprofit teams drowning in complexity, in leaders who can't tell which of their initiatives are actually working, in people who have added their way into paralysis.
Drawing from Luke 10 and the story of Mary and Martha, Danita shows how Jesus modeled the discipline of focus — and what it means for leaders who carry responsibility for others. This isn't a conversation about doing less. It's about doing the right things. The things that actually matter.
In this episode, you'll hear:
— Why addition eventually becomes paralysis, and the quiet cost of maintaining too much
— What Jesus said to Martha that reframes how we think about faithful leadership
— A practical framework for three categories where subtraction creates immediate clarity: initiatives, relationships, and the internal stories we carry
— How to recognize the difference between hard relationships that make you better and extractive ones you have permission to release
— A personal story about the narrative Danita had to let go before she could lead from a healthier place
"Faithfulness isn't measured by how much you do. It's measured by how well you steward what's actually yours."
Before you close this episode, Danita asks: What are you maintaining right now out of habit, guilt, or fear of what people will think — rather than genuine mission? What would it open up if you subtracted just one thing?

EPISODE 72: NAMING WHAT’S ACTUALLY YOURS TO CARRY
Clarity Season — Episode 2 of 8
This is Episode 2 of the Clarity Season. If you haven’t listened to Episode 1 yet, start there: “Clarity Is Not Certainty—And Why That Changes Everything.”It lays the foundation for everything we’re exploring this season.
Last episode, we explored the difference between clarity and certainty. Today, we go deeper into one of the most common places that confusion shows up: carrying weight that was never yours to begin with.
Not the responsibilities you said yes to. Not the things that genuinely belong in your hands. But the weight you picked up along the way—other people’s emotions, problems you can’t solve, outcomes you were never meant to control.
IN THIS EPISODE:
• The pattern most of us don’t notice anymore—absorbing a teenager’s anxiety, carrying a spouse’s disappointment, holding the church together while quietly falling apart
• What carrying other people’s weight actually costs you—and why sleep won’t fix this kind of tired
• 3 questions to name what’s yours:
What can I actually influence? (not control—influence)
What did I actually agree to?
What happens if I don’t carry this?
• The Nehemiah principle: you’re called to rebuild the wall in front of your house, not everyone else’s
• A real-life story of letting go of a 15-year ministry
• Why releasing what isn’t yours is an act of trust, not abandonment (featuring listener Sarma’s insight: “trust begets trust”)
• Faith reframe from Exodus: what Moses learned from Jethro
KEY MOMENTS:
00:00 — Welcome + Clarity Season Recap
01:00 — The Pattern We Don’t Notice Anymore

14:30 — What Shifts When You Get Honest
15:30 — Trust Begets Trust

18:30 — Your Next Step
19:30 — Quiz: What’s Your Leadership Superpower?
KEY QUOTES:
“Faithfulness isn’t measured by how much you carry. It’s measured by how honestly you steward what’s actually in your hands.”
“If it all falls apart when you stop carrying it, it was never standing on its own in the first place.”
“Awareness is not the same as agreement. Just because you notice a need doesn’t mean you’re the one who needs to own it.”
YOUR NEXT STEP:
This week, write down everything you’re currently carrying. Then go through the list and ask the three questions. You might be surprised at how much was never yours.

If you're leading through decisions that matter—teams depending on you, deadlines stacking up, personal life competing for the same mental space—this episode is for you.
Today, we're starting an eight-episode season on clarity. Not the kind of clarity that comes from having all the answers, but the kind that lets you move forward when you don't.
Clarity is not certainty. And confusing the two is costing you momentum, confidence, and peace.
THE BELIEF WE RARELY SAY OUT LOUD
There's a quiet belief many leaders carry but rarely admit: "If I were clearer, I wouldn't feel this uncertain."
But that belief is wrong.
You might be waiting for the moment when you'll just know what to do. When the fog will clear and everything will be obvious.
But absolute certainty is not the gift we think it is. In fact, the pursuit of absolute certainty often keeps you from the clarity you actually need.
THE DIFFERENCE THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING
Certainty is about outcomes. Clarity is about alignment.
Certainty asks, "Will this work?" Clarity asks, "Is this faithful to what I'm responsible for right now?"
Certainty demands proof before you move. Clarity requires enough discernment to take the next step.
God rarely gives us certainty about outcomes. But He consistently offers clarity about what's ours to do right now.
IN THIS EPISODE:
KEY QUOTES:
"Certainty is about outcomes. Clarity is about alignment."
"God rarely gives us certainty about outcomes. But He consistently offers clarity about what's ours to do right now."
"You can't endure what you won't acknowledge."
"Faith doesn't remove uncertainty. It removes the demand that you control the outcome."
SCRIPTURE REFERENCED:
YOUR NEXT STEP:
Ask yourself:
- What decision are you delaying because you're waiting for certainty?
- What next step do you actually have enough clarity to take?
Stop waiting for the fog to completely clear. Instead, ask for enough light for the next step. And then take it.

Feeling exhausted at day's end but wondering what you actually accomplished? You're likely caught in the multitasking trap that's silently stealing nearly half your productive time. This eye-opening episode reveals the startling truth: what we proudly call "multitasking" is actually "micro task switching" – a productivity killer costing leaders up to 40% of their workday.
Drawing from both neuroscience and spiritual wisdom, Danita unpacks why our brains aren't designed for simultaneous tasks and introduces the game-changing FOCUS framework that transforms how you approach your day. You'll discover practical steps to implement immediate focus sprints that create momentum without overwhelming your already full schedule. The simple acronym – Fix your eyes on what matters, Obey the rules and rhythms, Capture ideas without chasing them, Uphold your boundaries, and Steward the results – provides a complete roadmap for reclaiming your time and attention.
What sets this approach apart is how it bridges productivity and faith. As Danita reminds us, "Focus is a spiritual practice – choosing faithfulness over frenzy." The guidance connects seamlessly to Proverbs 4:25-26, showing how intentional focus allows us to steward the gifts God has entrusted to us. Whether you're battling constant team interruptions, feeling perpetually reactive, or struggling to maintain attention, this episode offers tailored solutions to your specific focus challenges.
Ready to stop the spin and start leading with clarity? Try just one focus sprint today. Your leadership impact – and your peace of mind – depend on it. For personalized guidance, book a 90-minute clarity session with Danita to map your ideal week and establish healthy guardrails that bring the peace you deserve in your leadership journey.

What happens when a simple question from a child completely upends your successful corporate career? Genevieve Peturro never expected her life to take a sudden turn after 12 years of climbing the television industry ladder in New York City. Yet when a little girl in a shelter whispered, "What are pajamas?" everything shifted.
That moment launched Genevieve's extraordinary journey from corporate success to founding the Pajama Program, which has since distributed over 8 million pajamas and books to children across America. Her story challenges us to reconsider how we define success and what truly matters in our leadership journeys.
Through our conversation, Genevieve reveals the profound differences between traditional corporate leadership and leading with love. She dismantles the myth that heart-centered leadership sacrifices effectiveness, showing instead how vulnerability, collaboration, and joy create stronger, more innovative teams. "It's not about control, it's about connection," she emphasizes—a philosophy that transforms workplaces regardless of industry.
For leaders contemplating change, Genevieve offers wisdom from her "jump" into purpose-driven work. She acknowledges the fear that accompanies major transitions but encourages finding cheerleaders who understand your vision. Whether you're considering a dramatic career pivot or simply seeking greater fulfillment in your current role, her practical advice on making "jumps" or "slides" provides a roadmap for authentic living.
Perhaps most moving is Genevieve's insight into how providing comfort changes lives on both sides of the equation. The bedtime rituals many take for granted—clean pajamas, storybooks, a loving presence—offer vulnerable children the essential security and peace they need. Meanwhile, volunteers repeatedly express how their service provides unexpected healing during their own difficult times.
Ready to lead with greater heart and purpose? Connect with Genevieve through her website for her "Lead with Love" tips and a free brainstorming session to explore your next steps. Your greatest impact might be waiting just beyond your comfort zone.

In this heart-to-heart episode, Danita Cummins unpacks Proverbs 16:3 and reveals why God's definition of success is radically different from the world's. Ever looked around your workplace and thought, "There must be a better way"? In this transformative conversation with Dr. Christie McMullen, we uncover how joy and productivity work as essential allies rather than opposing forces.
Dr. McMullen brings her 25 years of education experience into the business world with a refreshingly simple framework that makes every workplace interaction safe, logical, fun, and memorable. She explains how psychological safety forms the foundation for everything else—when people feel truly seen and valued, they bring their best selves to work. Through her engaging personality assessment (which reveals whether you are a paperclip, magnifying glass, teddy bear, or slinky), she demonstrates how understanding your team's natural strengths fosters harmony rather than friction.
The conversation takes a decisive turn when we explore why so many workplaces feel joyless. "People quit things that aren't fun," Christie notes, whether through actual resignation or just mentally checking out. Her perspective challenges the notion that work must be endured rather than enjoyed, offering practical strategies for leaders to create environments where people genuinely want to contribute. We discuss the warning signs of quiet quitting and how self-aware leadership can prevent team burnout.
What makes this episode particularly valuable is the balance of spiritual wisdom with practical application. We explore how the biblical concept of being called to "build our own section of the wall" applies to modern workplace dynamics and how shifting from an "I have to" mindset to an "I get to" perspective transforms our relationship with work.
Whether you lead a team of two or two hundred, this conversation will equip you with actionable insights to create a workplace culture where people thrive. Ready to make your workplace interactions more intentional, engaging, and productive? This episode is your blueprint for getting started.

Leadership can be quietly exhausting. You're doing all the right things—showing up, serving faithfully, leading with vision—yet still wondering if any of it makes a difference. That hidden weariness is exactly what we're tackling in this powerful episode centered around Galatians 6:9.
"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." These words from Paul acknowledge the reality of leadership fatigue while offering profound hope. What makes this verse particularly challenging is the phrase "at the proper time"—a frustrating reminder that God's timeline rarely matches our own. The harvest is coming, but on His schedule, not ours.
Through personal stories and practical wisdom, I share three leadership truths that have sustained me through seasons of doubt: First, faithful leaders continue sowing even when the soil feels dry. The most important work often happens underground, invisible to everyone including ourselves. Second, rest isn't quitting—leaders burn out not because they work hard, but because they work empty. Finally, look for sprouts rather than applause. Leadership growth shows up in tiny moments that remind us why we started in the first place.
Whether you're leading a ministry, running a business, managing a team, or raising a family, this episode offers the encouragement you need to keep going when quitting feels tempting. The harvest is already in motion, even when you can't see it yet. Ready to find renewed strength for your leadership journey? Listen now and discover how to stay faithful when the fruit isn't visible.
In this heartfelt episode, Danita invites leaders into an honest conversation about what it means to keep showing up, even when the results feel invisible. Inspired by Galatians 6:9, we reflect on the quiet but powerful endurance it takes to lead well and live faithfully.
Stay tuned for an upcoming conversation with Dr. Christie McMullen — bringing neuroscience and soul together to help sustain your leadership journey.

Lana shares her own journey through grief, entrepreneurship, and reinvention. After running and selling a successful payroll and bookkeeping firm, she turned her attention to coaching and authored the Give Up book series—helping leaders examine and release beliefs that no longer serve their vision.
Whether you’re stuck in perfectionism, overthinking your next move, or afraid to launch something new, this episode offers clarity, encouragement, and practical tools to help you break free from hesitation and lead with greater confidence.

Have you ever found yourself stuck in fear, overthinking decisions, or wrestling with the pressure to get everything right? In this deeply personal June solo episode, I explore the transformative power of renewed thinking and how our mindset profoundly shapes our leadership effectiveness.
Drawing from Romans 12:2, I share my own journey confronting what I call the "shame, fear, and control triad" – a powerful framework that helped me understand how these three elements create limiting beliefs in leadership. During a sabbatical last year, I underwent what I affectionately call "spiritual therapy" where I confronted decades-old patterns of perfectionism and fear-based decision making.
The breakthrough came through identifying specific ungodly beliefs like "I have to do everything perfectly or I will be judged" and replacing them with scriptural truth. This practice of speaking truth aloud daily for 30 days began reshaping not just my thinking but my entire leadership approach.
Fear manifests differently for each of us – sometimes as logic, excessive planning, or analysis paralysis. Whatever form it takes, unaddressed fear leads to delay and indecision that limits our impact. That's why I share five practical tools for mindset transformation: naming patterns, replacing lies with truth, creating white space for clarity, surrounding yourself with truth-tellers, and leading from identity rather than insecurity.
As I navigate my own transition season with my youngest son graduating high school, I'm reminded that our journeys constantly evolve. The mindset work never truly ends, but it's worth it. You have unique gifts and perspective needed in this world. Don't let fear rob you or those you lead of these gifts. Grab your journal, reflect on the questions shared in this episode, and start your journey toward renewed thinking today.

When was the last time you felt that unsettling disconnect between what you're doing and who you're becoming? That strange tension where everything looks right on paper, but your soul feels tired?
This episode dives deep into the sacred space of pivoting—recognizing when God is calling you to something new and finding the courage to follow. Drawing from Isaiah 43:19 ("I am doing a new thing. Now it springs forth. Do you not perceive it?"), we explore what it truly means to navigate leadership transitions with both faith and practical wisdom.
I share my family's unexpected journey of pivoting our entire business direction after Hurricane Helene, when my husband felt called to develop emergency communication systems for disaster response. What started with a late-night phone call from our pastor saying, "What if God has made you for such a time as this?" evolved into one of the scariest and most purposeful seasons of our lives.
The path to pivoting requires three key steps: reflecting honestly on what feels heavy or misaligned, reconnecting with your core values, and taking one small step forward in faith. But we also need to acknowledge the two companions that always join us on this journey—fear and grief. It's possible to hold both the sadness of what you're leaving behind and the excitement of where God is leading.
Whether you're questioning your current role, feeling restless in your leadership, or sensing that still, small voice calling you to something new, remember this: pivoting doesn't mean you failed. It simply means you're paying attention. What part of your life feels misaligned right now, and what's one small change that could bring you closer to the life God is calling you to lead?

What if the reason you feel stuck in your leadership has nothing to do with your title and everything to do with your values?
In this thoughtful and vulnerable conversation, Danita sits down with executive mentor and author Jack Cohen, a seasoned leader with over 40 years of experience in business, real estate, and leadership development. Jack’s wisdom is deeply rooted in his personal journey, and this episode offers more than practical tips—it’s a mindset shift for anyone seeking clarity, alignment, and purpose.
Together, they go beyond leadership buzzwords and get to the heart of what it really means to lead well: knowing who you are, what you stand for, and how to stay anchored when life, business, or identity feel uncertain.
Jack shares how his values—especially freedom, integrity, and radical candor—became the compass that guided his professional success and personal transformation. He shares lessons learned through decades of leading, mentoring, and navigating the complex spaces where faith, business, and identity meet.
Danita reflects on her leadership evolution and how unhealed trauma, misplaced beliefs, and striving for performance once clouded her vision—until she began redefining success from the inside out.
This isn’t just an episode about leadership. It’s an invitation to realign your life with what matters most and finally lead with peace, not pressure.

Hey there, friends!
Have you ever wondered why leadership development is such a huge challenge for organizations?
Well, in our latest episode, I dive deep into this intriguing topic. According to a recent LinkedIn poll, leadership development is professionals' top organizational hurdle. I couldn't help but be curious about its importance and the difficulties it presents.
One of the key reasons leadership development is so tough is that it's not commonly seen as a profession. We often struggle with the human elements of leadership, like emotional intelligence and conflict resolution. But fear not! There's something magical about a conversation that can take you on a journey through the depths of grief, only to lift you towards the peaks of personal growth and fulfillment. That's precisely what unfolded when Jesse Brisendine, a beacon in the field of personal development, joined me in a heartfelt exchange. We ventured beyond conventional wisdom, engaging in discussions that transcended personal boundaries, examining the influence of environment on behavior, and the grace found in moments of profound empathy and understanding.
My own journey with an online creative community underscored the necessity of collaboration and mentorship in achieving our dreams, a theme that resonated deeply with Jesse's transformative insights. Stories of navigating loss, the historical significance of mourning, and the delicate dance between human behavior and the environment we inhabit, provided a rich tapestry of conversation. These narratives serve as reminders that our actions are not our identity, and that healing often requires us to slow down and honor our grief, rather than rushing through it.
As our discussion flowed, we recognized the intersection of success and fulfillment, questioning the modern narrative of constant hustle. We celebrated the Global Sunrise/Sunset Project, a powerful reminder of the connectivity and compassion inherent in all of us, and I shared how personal revelations have shaped my understanding of true success. This conversation is an invitation to open your heart to the lessons of empathy and the pursuit of a life filled with purpose, all while cherishing the unique light each of us has to offer the world. Join us for a journey that promises to inspire and transform.

Coach Damon Parker, the keynote speaker and executive director of The Jones Project, spent 21 years as a teacher, coach and professional speaker in both Kansas and Missouri. His gripping 60-minute presentations are not solely directed at students who are in crisis; they also are for those in the audience who don’t have firsthand experience with mental health illnesses.
As a mother and someone who witnessed loved ones navigate through mental health challenges, I found myself deeply drawn to The Jones Project's mission of erasing the stigma around seeking help. In this episode, Coach Damon shares his personal journey and experiences that led him to dedicate his life to mental health awareness and suicide prevention for high school and middle school students.
We start by discussing the importance of community and how my involvement in the online Cold Creatives community has helped me launch new ideas and achieve long-held dreams. I invite you to join the Cold Creatives community, where you'll find invaluable resources for writing, podcasting, and personal growth – it's all about collaboration instead of competition.
Throughout the episode, Coach Damon sheds light on the challenges faced by The Jones Project as they strive to reach and support as many students as possible. Damon's insights are both eye-opening and inspiring, from managing the influx of messages and finding local resources for students in rural areas to the power of storytelling and the need for trusted adults in our schools.
We dive deep into the conversation about mental health, early intervention's importance, and open, honest conversations. Damon shares his struggles, and the impact that attending a funeral had on him, serving as a wake-up call to address his mental health.
The Jones Project, with its tagline "Find a way," is making a real difference in the lives of countless students. Damon and his team provide support and resources and create a community where conversations can continue even after they're gone.
But they need your help. Damon emphasizes the importance of being proactive, getting involved in mental health initiatives, offering support, and finding a trusted adult who can make a difference in a student's life. And if you feel compelled to contribute, donations and ideas are always welcome to further The Jones Project's mission.

On today’s episode, we’re jumping into a teaching topic – about innovation. But before you shake your head or click out of the podcast, I’ll challenge you to stay.
Do you consider yourself an innovation expert? Maybe. But probably not.
Maybe you think concepts like design or systems thinking are boring, over your head, or not something that applies to your daily life. But I promise that if you stay tuned to today’s show, you’ll find out that maybe this topic isn’t as complex or confusing as you think! You’ll also see that you’re doing it, or you’re a part of it, every day.
If you are struggling to change or grow your organization, I encourage you to stay tuned to today’s episode as I share a 5-step framework that I use to help my coaching and consulting clients grow their teams!
As a coach and consultant, I work with many organizational leaders helping them to develop strategies and frameworks to change or grow their organizations.
When we launch a new project, the term “innovation” almost always appears.
Innovation - how many times have you heard it today? We need to innovate. You need to be more innovative. The defense industry needs more innovation… the list goes on and on.
And to an extent, I think, Yes, that's true. As we’ve seen over the past 2 years - every organization should be agile, should remain flexible and be able to adjust or pivot as the world or circumstances and environment cause us to do that. Right, we learned that in real time.
But why does that matter? If we learned anything from the pandemic and recent events across banking, finance, etc., we've learned that agility is critical to organizational success.
No matter where your organization sits on the “innovation highway”, you can employ this concept today in your daily efforts.
Here are the 5-steps:
They might not sound super impressive, but I truly believe that if organizational leaders could embrace a simple framework, they can solve almost any problem!
It's not a proprietary process to me, but try it! You might find these tools help you and your teams navigate the challenges you find across your organization!
Innovation Framework References:
On today's episode, we're diving into the topic of emotional intelligence and how that affects the culture of our organizations. When we lead teams or organizations, it's essential for us to understand how we feel and why we feel a certain way. The culture of our organization is guided or influenced by those emotions. As leaders, we must strive to understand our feelings and how they contribute to our organization's climate and our team's dynamics.
I offer you two fundamental questions that I use when I'm trying to navigate my emotions, on or off the clock! They are simple reminders to help you dig into your emotional "love tank" and develop deeper areas of self-awareness.
As leaders, we are entrusted with the care and safekeeping of others. But understanding our own emotions and how they affect others is critical to lead ourselves and others well!
Check out this interesting article from Harvard Business Review called, "Managing Your Emotional Culture" to learn why feelings matter just as much as how employees think or behave: https://hbr.org/2016/01/manage-your-emotional-culture#:~:text=The%20Reason,as%20you%20do%20their%20mindset. This message is for you, dear friend, the one who is missing someone today. Four years ago, my father passed away. Navigating the grief of loosing someone close to you is one of the hardest things to do. We might consider that we're depressed, but we could also be brokenhearted. Hearts matter. They take time to heal, just like any other muscle or broken bone. Unfortunately, we can't see our heart.
So, to you, dear friend, the one who may be missing the one you love, know that you are not alone. It's OK to be sad. It's OK to miss them, and it's OK to have a broken heart. My faith and my family bring me the greatest comfort. I pray you find joy in their memories and peace for the hard days.
All my love!
