What if the next chapter of your career is not full-time, but fully aligned?
In this episode of Corporate Cafecito, Nallely and Carlos are talking about fractional work, what it means, why it is growing, and why so many professionals are starting to see it as more than just a backup plan.
Fractional CFOs, COOs, CHROs, consultants, strategists, and operators are stepping into companies for a season, solving real problems, and bringing years of experience without being tied to one permanent role.
But let’s be honest, mi gente.
This shift comes with both opportunity and concern.
For some, fractional work creates freedom, flexibility, and a chance to use your expertise on your own terms.
For others, it may feel like another sign that secure corporate jobs are changing.
So we’re talking about it all:
✨ What fractional work really means
✨ Why it is becoming more common
✨ How it can help entrepreneurs and small businesses
✨ What to consider before saying yes
✨ Why your resume, skill set, and confidence matter more than ever
Because sometimes the next move is not about starting over.
Sometimes it is about realizing that what you already know has value.
Pour your cafecito, bring your questions, y vámonos. This conversation is one many of us need right now.

Michele Garcia is back on Corporate Cafecito, and this conversation goes deeper. So grab your pan dulce, cafecito, y ganas de escuchar una conversación bien buena. ☕🥐
Michele Garcia is back on Corporate Cafecito, and this episode gives us another side of her story.
We talked about her work on ABC 20/20 as a true crime subject matter expert, her career as a detective, motherhood, leadership, and her book, Model Detective.
What stayed with me was how honest Michele was about the road to getting published. Years of writing. Years of rejection. So many no’s. And then finally, the yes.
That is such a real reminder that sometimes success comes after you keep knocking, even when the door keeps closing.
And of course, I had to call Michele out a little because she has done so much and still tries to act like it is no big deal. 😂
Michele, it is a big deal.
This conversation is honest, funny, intense, and full of corazón. It is about resilience, pressure, motherhood, career, and learning to give ourselves a little more grace.

✨☕️ She’s back, and honestly, this conversation stayed with me in such a real way. 🤎
Michele Martinez came back to Corporate Cafecito, and this time we talked about something that so many of us carry quietly: what it feels like to be Latina and not speak Spanish. 🇲🇽💬
That shame.
That hesitation.
That feeling of wondering if you are “Latina enough” because you were never taught the language, or because you understand more than you can speak, or because someone made you feel small for trying. 🤍
What I loved about this conversation is how honest Michele was about her journey. She shared what it felt like to grow up with a Mexican last name, to have people assume she spoke Spanish, and to feel caught between worlds. Not white enough. Not Mexican enough. Not fully sure where she belonged. And I know she is not the only one who has felt that. 🌎✨
I believe our cultura should never be used as a test. It should be something that brings us closer to each other. We should not shame people for what they were not taught. We should celebrate the effort, the curiosity, the connection, and the desire to come home to community in whatever way that looks like. 🫶🏽🌱
One of the most beautiful parts of this conversation was hearing Michele talk about slowly finding her confidence, sitting with other Latinas at work, and realizing she was welcomed the whole time. Sometimes belonging does not start with everyone else giving you permission. Sometimes it starts with you finally believing, “I belong here too.” ☕️🤎✨
This episode is for anyone who has ever questioned if they were enough.
You are. 🤍
You belong in this comunidad.
Tu historia importa.
Your voice matters. 🗣️✨

She never left, familia. We just refilled the cafecito.
Michele Garcia stayed with me for part two of our Corporate Cafecito conversation, and I’m so grateful she did.
What started as a conversation about her career in law enforcement became something much deeper. We talked about what it means to serve for more than 25 years, to carry the weight of difficult work, to be a Latina in spaces where women were not always expected to lead, and to still find your way with strength, humor, and corazón.
Michele opened up about the personal side of the job too. The impact it can have on your health, your family, your sleep, your peace, and the way you start asking yourself what life should look like after giving so much of yourself to your career.
One part that really stayed with me was how she talked about mentorship.
She saw another young Latina coming up in the department, recognized her potential, and made room for her. Not because she had to, but because she understood what it feels like to be overlooked and what it means when someone finally sees you.
That is what lift as you climb really looks like.
It is honest. It is powerful. And it is a reminder that our stories matter, especially when they help someone else believe that they belong too.

Hola Familia!
Grab your cafecito ☕ this is one of those conversations you don’t rush through.
Today’s episode of Corporate Cafecito is live 🎙️ and I had the chance to sit down with Michele Garcia. I went into this thinking we were going to talk about her career, 25 years in law enforcement, homicide, sex crimes and we did, but it became something more.
We talked about what comes with that kind of work. What you carry. What stays with you. The moments that don’t just go away when the day is over. There was a part of the conversation where she shared how one decision can change everything, and it really made me pause.
It made me think about how many of us are showing up every day holding more than people realize, and still finding a way to keep going.
Check out her book Model Detective 📚 it’s out now and she shares her story and what it was really like working those cases. If you want to learn more about her journey, you can visit her website, I’ll share it in the comments.

After my first conversation with Michelle Martinez, I knew I wanted her back on the podcast.
There was something about the way she talks about connection that stayed with me.
So I invited her back, and this time the conversation went even deeper.
What I appreciate about Michelle is that she doesn’t talk about connection in a surface way. She talks about it in a way that makes you pause and really think about how you move through life and the people around you.
At some point, we found ourselves talking about something I know so many of us are feeling right now, even if we’re not always saying it out loud.
The need for real comunidad.
Not networking. Not transactional conversations. Just real connection. The kind where you feel seen, understood, and like you don’t have to perform.
Michelle said something that really stayed with me. Sometimes just witnessing someone else live their life is enough to remind you what’s possible for your own.
That stayed with me, because so much of what we’re building, in life and in our careers, comes down to the people we surround ourselves with and the spaces we choose to create.
This conversation felt honest, grounding, and needed.
Gracias Michelle for coming back and sharing your heart.
If you’ve been craving something more real lately, I think this episode will speak to you.

Alex Miranda came to Chicago planning to stay for six months.
Fourteen years later, he’s still here.
We had him on Corporate Cafecito this week, and I went into the conversation thinking we were going to talk about marketing. We did, but it ended up being more about people than anything else.
One thing he said really stuck with me. We spend so much time thinking about logos, colors, websites…all the visible parts of a brand. But that’s not what people remember.
They remember how you made them feel.
And I started thinking about how often we’re building something a business, a career, a personal brand without ever really stopping to define that part. We assume people “get it,” but sometimes they don’t. And when they don’t, that’s where the disconnect happens.
We also talked about how marketing is shifting. It’s less about labeling people and more about understanding shared experiences. That part hit home, especially for the work we do and the community we care about.
And yes, we touched on AI too. It’s helpful, no doubt. But it still can’t replace real human creativity or the way people connect with something that feels genuine.
I don’t know… this one made me pause a bit.
If someone had to describe your brand today, would it sound the way you think it does? 🧠

Some conversations stay with you. This was one of them.
I had the opportunity to sit down with Michelle Martinez, and what I thought would be a light conversation turned into something much deeper.
We talked about work, not the kind we put on our resumes, but the kind we feel every day, and if we’re being honest, work feels heavy right now.
Not because we don’t care and not because we’re not capable, but because somewhere along the way, work stopped making sense.
In this episode, we talk about why so many of us feel overwhelmed even when we’re doing everything right, what “collaboration fatigue” really is and why it’s draining us, why communication isn’t just a skill but the foundation of everything, and how we start creating space to just be human again at work.
There was one moment that really stayed with me. Michelle shared how she paused everything with her team and said, “let’s just complain,” no fixing it, no judgment, just listening, and in that space, people felt seen and things actually started to shift.
Y eso me hizo pensar…how often do we give ourselves permission to pause, to reflect, to say this isn’t working?
Familia, you are not alone in this. You’re not behind and you’re not doing it wrong. Maybe the system just needs to change.
💬 What’s something at work that hasn’t been sitting right with you lately?

Let’s talk about something that’s been sitting heavy for so many people lately…
This season right now… it’s heavy.
The job search feels longer. The silence feels louder.
And the rejection? It hits deeper than we like to admit.
In this week’s episode, we sat down and talked about what so many of us are going through but not always saying out loud…
✨ the emotional toll
✨ the identity shift
✨ the frustration of applying and hearing nothing back
Because this isn’t just about finding a job…
it’s about your livelihood, your familia, your purpose.
And if you’re in this season right now, I want you to hear me clearly…
tu valor no ha cambiado. Your worth is still there. You are still capable, talented, and needed.
We also talk about how to navigate this moment with intention…
how to protect your energía, lean into comunidad, and treat your job search with both strategy and corazón.
You are not alone in this.
Estamos contigo. Siempre. 💛
If you’re in this season right now… what’s been the hardest part for you?

Familia… can I be honest with you for a moment? 💛
There have been times in my life where I felt like I had to choose between my career… and my family.
This week’s cafecito wasn’t just another conversation.
It was one of those moments where I found myself reflecting on my own journey… as a woman, as a Latina, as a professional… and as someone who has had to make hard choices along the way.
When I think about Women’s History Month, yes… I think about celebration.
But I also think about everything we carry.
The expectations to be everything for everyone.
The pressure to keep pushing forward.
The sacrifices that don’t always get seen.
I’ve lived that.
In this episode, Carlos and I talked about:
✨ The wage gap that still impacts our community
✨ What it really means to be a primary breadwinner
✨ The reality of stepping away from work to care for the people we love
✨ And why so many of us are choosing to build something of our own
But this part… this part stayed with me:
👉 Be the woman you want the next generation to experience
That hit me deeply.
Because when I think about my mom… my family… everything they sacrificed…
I know that everything I do today is connected to them.
And if you’re reading this and you’re in a season where you feel stretched, overwhelmed, or like you’re carrying too much…
I see you. De corazón.
You are not alone in this.
We’re figuring it out… together. Siempre. 🤎
If this resonated with you, share it with a mujer in your life, follow along, and help us continue building this comunidad… con amor, apoyo, y propósito.

This week on Corporate Cafecito, I had the opportunity to sit down with Chicago native, leadership coach, and author Isaias Mercado to talk about his new book releasing today, March 10th: 📚 The 10 F Words of Feedback
During our conversation, he said something that really stayed with me:
“Feedback should be a roadmap, not a verdict.”
Think about that for a moment.
So many of us experience feedback as criticism or judgment. Something that makes us feel like we’re being evaluated as a person rather than supported in our growth.
But what if feedback was actually meant to guide us forward?
In this episode, we talk about why feedback is one of the most important leadership skills we can develop, and why learning how to both give and receive feedback well can completely transform our workplaces and our careers.
Isaias shared another insight that really resonated with me:
“Feedback doesn’t define us. It refines us.”
When feedback is given with trust, belief, and clarity, it doesn’t tear people down. It helps people grow into their potential.
We also talked about something that matters deeply to both of us. Highlighting the voices in our comunidad who are sharing knowledge, writing books, and helping others rise.
Because when one of us grows, crecemos todos juntos.

🔥 FAMILIA… THIS ONE IS FOR YOU. 🔥
If you want to elevate in corporate spaces, preparation is your edge.
Not luck.
Not vibes.
Preparation.
In this episode, Carlos and I talk about why showing up prepared changes everything.
✨ It builds trust.
✨ It gives you calm confidence.
✨ It makes you flexible, not flustered.
✨ It shifts how people see you.
And let’s be honest… as Latinos, we do not always get unlimited chances to prove ourselves.
So when you walk into a room prepared?
Your presence speaks.
At Corporate Cafecito, we believe in representación, comunidad, crecimiento, y cultura. We believe you can honor where you come from while building where you’re going.
Take the course.
Practice the pitch.
Read the brief.
Build the network.
Prepare for what’s ahead.
If you’re early in your career, in college, or ready for your next level, this episode is your reminder that confidence is built, not borrowed.

In moments like this, when immigration conversations feel heavy and uncertain, it becomes even more important to center lived experience.
This week on Corporate Cafecito, Nallely sits down with Reyna Grande, who crossed the border at nine years old as an undocumented child.
She shares what that journey felt like. Being caught twice. Hiding from helicopters. Running across a freeway in the dark. Arriving hungry. Living in survival mode.
But what stayed with us most was what came after.
Family separation.
Reunification that was painful and complicated.
Feeling emotionally homeless.
Choosing education as her pathway forward.
Right now, when immigration is reduced to headlines and political talking points, listening to stories like Reyna’s matters.
Because behind every debate are children.
Behind every policy are families.
Reyna has written nine books that center immigrant voices with dignity and truth. Her work reminds us that immigration is human.

In this episode, we go deep into the corporate chapters that shaped her leadership. From choosing systems engineering at IBM before laptops were even a thing, to leading complex transformations at PepsiCo during major acquisitions, to building what became the Multicultural Center of Excellence at a time when multicultural strategy wasn’t even part of the business conversation.
What makes this conversation powerful isn’t the titles. It’s the leadership moments we don’t talk about enough. The meetings that didn’t land. The resistance to change. The fear in the room. And Marie’s decision to stay, listen, and meet people one on one because real leadership starts with humanity.
We talk about non linear career paths, curiosity as a strategy, and what it means to keep walking into rooms where you are still the only Latina. Doing it afraid. Doing it anyway. Si tú puedes, tú puedes.
If your career path hasn’t looked the way you thought it would, if you’re stepping into something new, or if you’ve ever wondered whether you’re ready, this episode will meet you right where you are.

Chicago is frozen right now.
❄️☕ Chicago is frozen right now.
Negative digits over the weekend, snow on the ground, and one of those mornings where everything feels a little slower. The kind of day where you wrap your hands around your mug and sit with your cafecito instead of rushing through it.
That kind of morning invites reflection.
Because in this episode, we talk about trust. Not the buzzword version. The lived version. The kind that shows up in small moments at work. In who you confide in. In who shows up consistently. In who feels safe and who quietly doesn’t.
In this conversation, we explore
☕ How trust is built over time
☕ What erodes trust in the workplace
☕ Why predictability matters more than proximity
☕ Boundaries, feedback, and trust without oversharing
La confianza se construye despacio. Con acciones. Con coherencia. Con respeto.
If you’ve ever thought, I need to be more intentional about who I trust at work, this conversation will feel familiar.

We couldn’t imagine a more meaningful way to begin 2026.
Our first guest of the year on Corporate Cafecito is Marie Quintana.
Marie is a Cuban immigrant, CEO of Quintana Group, strategic advisor, executive coach, board director, and author. Long before ERGs, before representation became a strategy, she was building, leading, and opening doors in corporate America. From IBM to PepsiCo to serving as Chief Marketing Officer at Tenet Healthcare, her career spans decades of leadership, transformation, and impact.
But this conversation isn’t about titles.
It’s about her story.
Marie shares a moment from first grade she calls “White Dress Day.” Picture day. A handmade white dress. Walking into a classroom and realizing she was different. That moment didn’t break her. It became the foundation for resilience, courage, and leadership.
We talk about living in two worlds. About vulnerability as strength. About faith, cultura, and what it truly means to bring your whole self to work. Porque cuando compartimos nuestras historias, abrimos camino para otros.
Marie is also the author of Last Flight from Havana, a powerful memoir about leaving Cuba, identity, resilience, and healing. Her book is an extension of this conversation and a reminder that our beginnings do not limit us. They shape us.
If you’ve ever felt like you had to edit yourself to belong, this episode is for you.

We made it through 2025.
That alone matters.
As we step into 2026, this episode of Corporate Cafecito is about choosing how we move forward. Not rushing. Not reacting. Choosing with intention.
This conversation is an honest look at what last year required from us and what it actually gave back.
What truly moved you forward in 2025?
What quietly drained your time, energy, or headspace?
What are you no longer willing to carry into this year?
We talk about taking a real audit of 2025 through return on investment. Time. Energy. Focus. We walk through Start, Stop, Continue as a way to move with clarity instead of obligation.
We also talk about visibility with intention.
Being seen by the right people.
For the right reasons.
Without shrinking who you are or hiding your cultura.
This episode is rooted in lived experience. Career and life. Ambition and rest. Growth with boundaries. Todo con intención y con corazón.
We would love to hear from you.
What is one thing you are choosing to start, stop, or continue in 2026?

Before we step into 2026, we wanted to pause and talk honestly about 2025. Not just what we survived, but what we learned, who showed up, and how our community kept moving forward even when things felt heavy.
In this episode, we reflect on the realities of 2025 for our community and our workplaces. We talk about fear and resilience, DEI shifts, AI changing the job market, cultural guilt, and the pressure so many of us felt to stay quiet just to stay afloat.
We also take time to lift up what mattered most. The teachings we shared throughout the year. The Latine-owned businesses and organizations we highlighted. The leaders, mentors, and community builders who reminded us that visibility, access, and community still matter.
If you’re looking for guidance, reflection, and real conversations rooted in experience, we invite you to explore the episodes, the stories, and the businesses we’ve highlighted along the way.
This is an honest look at 2025. Lo bueno, lo difícil, y lo real.

When we first sat down with Sergio Suárez Jr., Founder and CEO of TackleAI, we were just beginning to understand artificial intelligence. We remember asking things like, “How does it even know what we like?” and wondering if AI could ever really replace human creativity.
Now, AI has evolved faster than any of us imagined, and having Sergio back on the podcast felt like coming full circle. 🔁
In this ☕ cafecito, we talk about how quickly the world is changing and what that means for our jobs, our families, and our comunidad. Sergio shares how 🤖 automation and robotics are reshaping industries, why 🎓 access and education matter more than ever, and how innovation can create new opportunities while also challenging the old ones.
💬 This conversation is honest, eye-opening, and deeply human. It is about courage, growth, and the future of our people in a world powered by technology and possibility.
💭 We would love to hear from you: How do you feel about the rise of AI? Are you curious, cautious, or a little bit of both?

In this week’s episode of Corporate Cafecito, we welcome an inspiring guest whose story beautifully blends cultura, comunidad, and emprendimiento Patricia Aguilar, Founder and President of FourStar Branding, joins us to share how her journey led to the creation of El Poder de La Marca®, a branding program empowering small business owners to rise, thrive, and build lasting impact within their communities.
Patricia has spent her career helping others find their voice and elevate their brands with authenticity and purpose. After completing the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program, she recognized a need for branding services at the same level as Fortune 500 companies but accessible to small businesses and nonprofits. Out of that vision, El Poder de La Marca® was born.
Through her collaboration with the Foundation of Little Village, Patricia has helped local entrepreneurs reimagine their businesses with professional branding, storytelling, and design. From taquerías to boutiques, her work goes far beyond logos and color palettes. It is about identity, pride, and community transformation. Each business she supports gains access to high-level branding funded through trusted organizations like the The Chicago Community Trust and the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, giving small businesses the opportunity to shine and grow.
In this conversation, we explore how entrepreneurship rooted in cultura y corazón becomes a movement for change. Patricia shares what it means to lead with purpose, build partnerships that matter, and nurture the next generation of business leaders who will carry our communities forward.
Her story is a powerful reminder that every negocio, big or small, deserves to look and feel like success. When we invest in our people, our creativity, and our heritage, we create impact that lasts.

This week’s cafecito hit deep. Refugio “Ref” Atilano joined us for a conversation that every professional, mentor, and dreamer in our comunidad needs to hear. We talked about what it really means to step into leadership and the courage it takes to quiet that inner voice that says, “you’re not ready.”
Raf is a corporate executive, author of The Latino Leadership Playbook, and a powerful advocate for developing Latino and multicultural talent. What makes his story so meaningful is how it began, with a desire to help. For years, he mentored others one by one, teaching confidence, presence, and how to lead with authenticity. But as he listened, he noticed the same struggles again and again: imposter syndrome, hesitation to self-advocate, and the belief that hard work alone would be enough.
Instead of letting those patterns continue, Raf decided to act. He poured his knowledge into a playbook filled with strategies, examples, and lessons from over 50 influential leaders. His goal wasn’t just to inspire, but to equip. To give our community the tools to lead with confidence and purpose.
What we love most about Raf’s story is his heart. He believes leadership should be accessible to everyone and that the potential we’re searching for already lives within us. His message is simple but powerful. When we lift each other up, we all rise.
This episode is full of wisdom, honesty, and inspiration. If you’ve ever doubted yourself or wondered if you belong, this conversation will remind you that you do. Leadership doesn’t begin with a title. It begins the moment you believe in yourself.

We’re back, familia 💛
After taking some time to pause, reflect, and refill our cups, Corporate Cafecito is back with an episode that reminds us why we started this journey in the first place.
This week, we’re joined once again by our amiga Olga Camargo, a leader who continues to inspire our comunidad to dream bigger and build a stronger foundation for the future. Olga was one of our most memorable guests a few seasons back when she joined us to talk about financial education and generational wealth. Now, she’s back to share her next chapter.
Her new book RISE: Embrace the Future You Can Build officially launches today, and her story will leave you feeling inspired to take action.
Olga opens up about how to start building financial confidence, one step at a time. She shares how to create a budget that works, join your 401(k), understand Roth versus pre-tax savings, and make small, intentional choices that lead to lasting growth.
Through her bilingual app, Olga is helping first-gen families, professionals & entrepreneurs learn to plan, save, and invest con intención.
This conversation is about more than money. It’s about believing in yourself, honoring where you come from, and taking care of your future with purpose and love. ❤️☕

☕ The toll it takes on trust and professional identity

🎧 NEW EPISODE – S8 E11: “Why Me… and Not Them?"
Have you ever reached a milestone you once dreamed of, only to feel a knot in your stomach instead of pure joy? That quiet voice that whispers, “Why me… and not them?”
Success is supposed to feel joyful. But for many of us, it also feels complicated.
There is a quiet weight that comes when your first bonus equals your parents’ monthly income, when you travel for work while your family never had the chance, or when you are seen as the “chosen one” who now carries everyone’s hopes.
That weight is called survivor's guilt. And in our comunidad, it shows up often.
In this cafecito, we open our hearts about what it means to achieve more than generations before us and how guilt, pride, and imposter syndrome collide along the way. We talk about:
☕ Why success can feel heavy instead of freeing
☕ The cultural tension between collective pride and individual achievement
☕ How to move from “Why me” to “Why not me”
☕ Reframing success as responsibility, not betrayal
☕ Celebrating our wins and bringing others along with us
We believe your éxito is not selfish. It is a path for others to follow.
💬 We invite you to join the conversation. Have you ever felt survivor's guilt in your career? What helped you move through it?
☕ P.S.: Partner with us. Sponsoring Corporate Cafecito is more than brand visibility. S8 E10: Más Datos, Más Dinero – Why Every Latine Professional Should Understand Business Metrics
Mid-year is the perfect moment to pause and ask: Am I on track to hit my goals? Do I know the números that truly tell me the answer?
Hard work opens doors, but knowing your business numbers is what keeps you in the room. Many Latine professionals are over-mentored and under-sponsored, and that includes not being taught the métricas that matter most or how to speak about them in a way that gets noticed.
💡 In this cafecito, we cover:
• The business métricas you should know, even if you are not in finance
• How to tie your work to revenue, retention, or ROI so your contributions are visible
• Why understanding ROI and opportunity cost changes how you spend your tiempo, dinero, and energy
• Simple ways to start learning, from sitting in on finance meetings to using free resources
This is more than a conversation about numbers. It is about using mid-year as your checkpoint to measure, adjust, and set yourself up to finish the year fuerte.

Let’s be real. Most of us are not exhausted from one big decision. We are drained by the hundreds of small ones we make before noon.
From “What should I wear?” to “Can I squeeze in this meeting?”, decision overload is real. And for many in our Latine community, the mental load runs even deeper. We are holding space for our families, our teams, and our dreams at once.
In this cafecito, we open up about the daily weight we carry and how to ease the pressure:
✅ What decision fatigue looks like at work and at home
✅ How culture and gender shape our mental load
✅ Boundaries that protect your peace without guilt
✅ How to lead with clarity, not just hustle
You are not lazy. You might just be overloaded.
Protecting your energy is not selfish.
It is leadership. It is love.

Jaime Viteri, President of Digital Latinos and founder of the Chicago Latino Network, said it best:
“You can’t just call the network when you need the network.”
Jaime’s right. A real network isn’t built overnight or only when things get tough. It’s built over time, with intention, presence, and love. You show up for your people, even when there’s nothing to ask for. You give, support, connect, and stay rooted because that’s what comunidad looks like.
In this cafecito, we sat down with Jaime to reflect on the 25-year journey behind one of the most recognized platforms for Latine professionals in Chicago: the Chicago Latino Network.
What began as one man’s vision to bring Latines together across professions has become a legacy. Today, CLN connects over 100,000 professionals and entrepreneurs. Jaime shares what it takes to build comunidad, elevate cultura, and shape generations of connection with humility, vision, and corazón.

We love our cultura but don’t want it to be reduced.
In this week’s episode of Corporate Cafecito, we have an honest conversation about what it really means to be Latino at work, especially when Hispanic Heritage Month rolls around.
Too often, visibility becomes a burden. You’re passionate, and suddenly, you're expected to plan the party, decorate the room, and represent an entire culture.
🎭 When “representation” feels like responsibility
🛑 When saying yes to culture means saying no to yourself
💡 When there’s a better way rooted in voice, leadership, and boundaries
We’ve both felt it.
Being Latine in the workplace is not just about potlucks or playlists.
It’s about strategy, voice, and leadership con propósito.
In this episode, we share real tools to:
✅ Set boundaries with grace and intention
✅ Celebrate all parts of our cultura, not just stereotypes
✅ Advocate for visibility that leads to influence
Let’s make this Hispanic Heritage Month count with corazón, comunidad, and claridad.

What’s in a Name?
Let’s talk accents, identity, and the power behind the words we carry.
In this new episode of Corporate Cafecito, we open up about the real moments that shaped us, being mispronounced as kids. Being told we "think in Spanish" at work and learning to reclaim our names and speak with pride.
Whether you grew up bilingual, speak Spanglish, or were never taught Spanish because your parents were trying to protect you, you belong in this conversation.
☕️ In this episode, we explore:
🌍 What your accent says about you
🧠 Why thinking in Spanish is not a flaw. It's a leadership advantage
🧒🏽 Childhood moments that shaped our confidence
🎙️ When Spanglish hit mainstream and why it mattered
🤝 How to create spaces where every voice is heard and respected
Language is not a barrier. It is a bridge.
Your voice, your accent, your story. All of it is part of your superpower.
Say your name with pride. Speak your truth con fuerza.
We’re building this space together. 💛

Happy Monday, familia.
If you’ve ever felt like the only one who didn’t get the memo at work… we see you.
This week, we’re holding space for a conversation so many of us have had to navigate quietly—office politics and everything no one ever taught us.
Starting a new job can feel like walking into season five of a show. Everyone knows the plot but you. 😅
In this cafecito, we learn about the unspoken rules, the silent codes, the side conversations, and the small moments that can shape your future.
💬 We talk about:
• Not knowing the rules doesn’t mean you don’t belong
• How to protect your voice and your worth
• The difference between access and influence
• What Gen Z is teaching us
• And how Latine professionals show up with courage, pride, and corazón
We want you to know that you are not alone in figuring this out. And you never have to lose who you are to rise.
Let’s rise with intention, grow with grace, and stay rooted in who we are. ☕❤️💼

Jackie shares what it looks like to lead in spaces that weren’t always made for authenticity—and how she’s made room for it anyway. She shows us the power of staying grounded while rising, trusting your gut when it says pause, and building a career that reflects who you are, not just what you do.

🚨 DEI is shifting—let’s talk about it. 🚨
On this episode of Corporate Cafecito, we dive into a hard truth: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion programs are being cut, renamed, or quietly removed. But instead of fear, we bring clarity, purpose, and a little corazón.
🎙️ As first-gen professionals and DEI leaders, we have championed representation from the inside out. When the system isn't built for us, we know what it means to advocate for visibility, opportunity, and comunidad.
In this conversation, we unpack:
☕ Why DEI is about more than race, disability, gender, age, caregiving, regionality & more
☕ How to lead and grow, even when companies pull back
☕ The Latino ERGs, Hispanic Chambers, and grant programs are still creating access
If your workplace isn’t making space, claim your seat anyway.
DEI isn’t gone. It’s evolving. And we’re not going anywhere.
Let’s rise—con corazón y comunidad.✊🏽☕

¿Y tú? Are you evolving with purpose or staying stuck in the same loop?
In this powerful cafecito, we sat down with Dr. Wallace, who shared her journey from Perú to the frontlines of digital transformation, career design, and leadership development. One of less than 1% of Latinas in the U.S. with a doctorate, she is a scientist, author, trailblazer, and founder of Windrose Vision.
And — she was also a professor.
Let that sink in.
She taught university-level sociology, statistics, and systems thinking in spaces where few Latinas are represented, breaking barriers and building pathways for those who came after her. That’s not just a title—that’s a legacy.
Dr. Wallace doesn’t just talk about change — she builds the roadmap for it.
Ready to take the guesswork out of your growth?
Dr. Wallace offers a step-by-step approach to help you:
Reflect on where you are Get clear on where you want to go Move with purpose, not panic Track real progress — not just busy work
You don’t need another degree — you need the right tools. Her “exploratory sprints” method allows you to test, explore, and pivot before committing.
“Transformation isn’t about reinvention. It’s about evolution.”

We're bringing you pure power and corazón to close out Women's History Month. This week on Corporate Cafecito, we sit down with Sandra Gonzalez, a retired Marine officer, executive coach, and author of Sexy Confidence.
Sandra brings la fuerza. She served 20 years in the Marines, trained over 500 women recruits, and rose through heartbreak, divorce, and the loss of her beloved papá, Miguel. Even in her lowest moments, she found purpose, clarity, and emotional strength—and now, she teaches others to become bulletproof from the inside out.
This episode is raw, inspiring, and authentic. Sandra shares what sexy confidence truly means—not appearance but presence, not perfection but healing. "Our ego is not our amigo."

“You are not lucky to be here.
The world needs your perspective.
They are lucky to have you.”
— Antonio Tijerino
In this episode of Corporate Cafecito, we explore the fundamental tension between fitting in and showing up fully — especially as Latinos, immigrants, women, and professionals navigating spaces not built with us in mind.
From moments in life where we may have hidden who we were to leading boardrooms with confidence and pride — this conversation is about reclaiming our voice, our culture, and our right to take up space unapologetically.
The pressure to assimilate shows up in ways we don’t always name:
🔹 Dialing yourself down to seem more “professional”
🔹 Wondering if you truly belong in the room you’ve earned
🔹 Fearing you're too much — or not enough for the space you’re in
🔹 Believing success requires you to leave parts of yourself behind
🔹 Losing sight of the truth — that you can grow and lead as your whole self
We’ve learned that authenticity isn’t a liability — it’s your leadership. When you show up fully, you don’t just lead—you open doors for others to do the same.

📢 NEW EPISODE
👀 Imagine balancing your career, raising your kids, and caring for your aging parents—all at once. Sound familiar? You’re not alone. This is the reality for millions in the Sandwich Generation, especially in Latine communities where multigenerational caregiving is not just expected, but ingrained in our culture.
✨ In this episode, we unpack:
✔️ Cultural Expectations & Gender Roles – Why caregiving often falls on Latinas and how it impacts careers.
✔️ The Workplace Struggle – Burnout, career stagnation, and the fear of asking for flexibility.
✔️ Breaking the Stigma – Why asking for help is NOT a failure and how companies can better support caregivers.
✔️ Real Talk & Solutions – Strategies to set boundaries, advocate for workplace change, and still thrive in your career.
💡 It’s time to shift the narrative. Caregiving isn’t a personal problem—it’s a workplace issue that deserves real solutions.

✨ Women’s History Month is Here! ✨
"They’ll tell you you can’t do it. That’s when you turn around and say, ‘Watch me.’" – Dolores Huerta
We hope you had a powerful International Women’s Day and are celebrating an inspiring Women’s History Month! In this episode of Corporate Cafecito, we talk about Latina leadership, breaking barriers, and taking action because we’re done waiting for change.
💼 Latinas earn just 57 cents for every dollar a white, non-Hispanic man makes. Let that sink in. We are the fastest-growing group of entrepreneurs, yet Latinas remain underpaid, underfunded, and underrepresented in leadership. That ends now.
So, how do we close the gap and change the game? We lift as we climb, demand our worth, and make space for the next generation. In this episode, we discuss the power of mentorship and sponsorship and why knowing your value is key to rewriting the rules.
💰 Funding is power. Organizations like Angeles Investors are helping Latina entrepreneurs access the capital and resources they need to build thriving businesses. Because when we invest in Latinas, we invest in innovation, progress, and generational wealth.
☕ This conversation gets real—from being "the only one in the room" to pushing for change in boardrooms, businesses, and beyond.
🚀 Liderazgo, Emprendedoras, Capital, Recursos—these words define our movement. It’s time to accelerate action. It’s time to claim what we deserve.
💜 Join us in celebrating the unstoppable power of Latinas. Tag a fierce mujer or an ally who inspires you! 🫶🏽

Let’s be honest—disagreements are inevitable in the workplace. But when does a difference of opinion cross the line into something deeper, something personal? Respect isn’t a universal workplace norm—it’s personal, shaped by our values, culture, and experiences.
In our latest episode of Corporate Cafecito, Carlos and I break down the art of disagreement—how to challenge ideas without making it personal, navigate difficult conversations with leadership, and when it’s time to step away. Because at the end of the day, knowing how to handle disagreement can make or break your career.
☕ How do you manage workplace disagreements? Do you reframe, retreat, or challenge directly? Let’s talk about it in the comments!

🚨 New Episode Alert – Let’s Talk About Growth! 🚨
Mi Gente, let’s be real—growth is exciting but can also feel like a loss. 🎢 Whether it’s moving up in your career, stepping into leadership, or even making a big life change, there’s always that moment of, Wait… what did I leave behind?
In this episode of Corporate Cafecito, Carlos and I dive deep into the bittersweet side of growth. From leaving behind coworkers when you get promoted to feeling like you’re starting from scratch when you take a leap into something new—growth isn’t always linear, and it sure isn’t always easy.
💭 Have you ever felt like leveling up meant losing something familiar?
🎙️ We get personal in this conversation—sharing moments of self-doubt, significant transitions, and how to redefine success on our terms. Here’s what we’ve learned along the way:
☕ Take inventory of where you are & write it down—because trust me, that feeling won’t last forever.
☕ Keep the connections that matter—just because your role changes doesn’t mean your people have to disappear.
☕ Define your own milestones—title, salary, flexibility… what’s truly important to you?
☕ Always focus on the gains—because growth is happening even in moments of loss.
Let’s grow together. 💪🏽 Salud! 🥂

Have you ever walked out of a convo like… wait, what just happened? 😵 No clarity, no direction, just vibes? That’s the opposite of purposeful communication—and let’s be honest, it can make or break your career, relationships, or even a simple email.
Carlos and I are breaking it down: how to communicate with intention so people actually get what you’re saying. Whether it’s your boss, your team, or even at home, being clear saves time, stress, and a whole lot of ¿qué dijo?" moments.
💡 Key takeaways?
✔️ Know your audience—what works for your team might not work for your boss.
✔️ Drop the we and they—who’s handling what? 🏀
✔️ Feedback is everything—did that make sense? Ask.
✔️ Your body language matters—people pick up on todo.
✔️ And if you start rambling? PAUSE. RESET. REFRAME.
Trust me, this is a game-changer. 🚀

In 2019, I started Elevar Development to work with companies and individuals to build professional skillsets, strategies, and confidence. Over two years ago, I decided that coaching and professional development is great for those who have L&D teams and the financial support, but our community needed something that would help inspire, educate, and push us to new levels.
April 2022, I started recording Corporate Cafecito as a way of sharing insights, strategies, and experiences. Today marks our 100th episode. The episodes cover everything from how to negotiate a salary to understanding what AI is, and everything in between. This platform has allowed all of us to see and hear from those individuals who have been the “first and only’s” in the rooms, those who didn’t know English as they started their careers, and entrepreneurs who have started, fallen and gotten up again.
My biggest goal was to show two things…1. That you are never alone and 2. Someone has done it so it CAN be done. The professional expertise shared on Corporate Cafecito has such a wide breadth because we are a broad people. The podcast shows that you can succeed in everything from house music to architecture, from starting a local business to managing an international Fortune 100. Latines are everywhere and we must lift each other up, create those paths, and share our stories.
The best way to connect with each other is through a Cafecito, that warm cup of coffee in our hands lets us know we are in a welcoming place with a friend and open to sharing. To all of my guests, thank you for being part of this amazing journey. For those who have a story to share, let me know when we can get our Cafecito together.

This topic is very important and comes up often in our podcasts. You are always brand building at work (and outside of work) through your actions, responsiveness, the quality of your work, and ability to get things done.
If we asked you to list the qualities of a good leader, would those qualities and characteristics align to who you are as a leader?
Think about what you want to be famous for and how you can build positive branding. Good people have bad days, so don't beat yourself up when you make mistakes, and show those around you that you can bounce back and grow.

We raise our tazas to you JC!

Myriam joined us (and we asked her back so check her out this week and next week). She is an HR executive and used her experiences to write her book based on the many Latinas she has seen in the corporate world. She talks about our fears, some of our own inhibitions and some of those cultural guardrails that sometimes hurt us. She talks about standing up for yourself and finding your identity.

You know the saying...el que a buen arbol se arrima, buena sombra lo cobija. In this episode we discuss some of our experiences and development opportunities. We especially focus on the impact of those around us when we are developing our professional lives, whether it's helping a friend submit a resume or cheering someone on, the group that we lean on helps shape our experience and our future.
Think about the people who have played a big role in your career and have supported your growth. Have you thanked them or told them how important they were in your formation or your core beliefs? If not, give them a call and say thank you. And also know, you've probably made a huge difference in someone's life as well!

It can be hard to imagine doing something until you see someone else do it. Most people learn by doing and messing up, and each time we venture past the comfort zone we find growth, but how do we even know where to venture? Sometimes it's cause someone went there before us, showed us the path, or at least gave us the hope that it was possible.
Role Models provide guidance, direction, and an example of success.

I'm sure you've heard of the Golden Rule...treat others as you would like to be treated. The newest and perhaps best spin on this is the Platinum Rule...treat others the way THEY would like to be treated.
Nallely and Mario explore what that means in the workplace and how to be inclusive and respectful of people's preferences. This may be awkward for some Latines, as not everyone wants to be hugged and kissed, something that is synonymous with our hellos and goodbyes.

Looking for the next opportunity? Don't talk yourself out of applying.
Most times we read the description and talk ourselves out of it, whether we don't feel qualified or think we won't get it. Instead of facing rejection, we leave ourselves out of the talent pool when you might be exactly who they're looking for to fill that role.
Sometimes it's convincing ourselves that this journey is worth the energy and instead we settle on staying where we are.
If you decide to take on the journey of finding a new job, listen to this episode for some advice from LinkedIn to questions for the interview.

Feedback is a gift...or is it? Sometimes it causes a lot of anxiety, typically cause we feel judged as usually the feedback is coming from a person in a position of authority. Year end reviews or your family's opinion on your parenting, feedback can be helpful, hurtful, and also send us into a panic. As you receive feedback, don't feel like you have to absorb it all and do every thing.
If you're the one giving feedback, make sure:
When done properly, feedback can make us better. If it's in a work setting, try to not take it personal. Growth comes from being open to feedback and change, embrace it.
Enjoy your cafecito, and if you feel up to it...share some feedback with us, we're always looking to grow.

Empower is a verb...when you make someone stronger and more confident. Empowered as a noun mean to have the authority to make the decisions, the ability to take action. What a beautiful word, you're either helping someone or you are in control to drive action.
Set clear expectations at work and define your role within the organization and ask for feedback. Look for an executive sponsor, someone who is in your corner and you can bounce ideas off of each other, the type of person who will advocate and promote you even when you're not there. And keep adding to your skill set whether it's through formal education, classes/certifications, or by listening to this podcast that wants to help build you up!

Teamwork...the combined action of a group of people. What does that really mean? We've all been on teams con el flojo and the team leader and have been frustrated with lack of progress, and yet when people interview most say they are a team player and appreciate being in a team setting.
What's important for a team to be strong and successful...trust and being reliable. Acknowledging the strengths of each member and seeing development opportunities. A great team will inspire you to be better, get farther, and value others.
As Phil Jackson said “The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team"

Employee engagement refers to the emotional commitment an employee has to their organization and its employees, vision and goals.
During COVID, there was the highest decrease in employee engagement and productivity, falling to around 10% for office employees. Still the engaged employee is not only a happy one, they're good for the entire company.

Building good habits and processes takes discipline. It's always easier to not do the work and throw in the towel instead, but sometimes that comes from not feeling prepared or setting goals that are unachievable.
This episode we're going to talk about "doing the work" and what that means. Including setting actionable and attainable goals, and also being able to say "ni modo" sometimes. The reason most new year's resolutions fail is because we go full speed and that's not how to build a habit, not a sustainable one at least. After one week 25% of people will have broken their resolution and by January 19th the majority will be abandoned.
Ponte las pilas and put in the time. Wishing you a wonderful 2023, thank you for being part of our community.
Enjoy your cafecito, bien calientito with or without a churro.

FAILURE - just typing that word feels scary. What does failure mean? It means we tried and we didn't make it...or, is failure the motivator we need to continue? If everything was perfect from the start, how would we grow?
Think about the positives of failure, it takes gut, grit, courage, and a lot of resolve. There was a quote that said "courage isn't having the strength to go on, it's going on when you have no strength" and that what failure feels like until we continue to move forward, to redefine the flaws, to fix it, and to forgive ourselves for mistakes.
Pa'delante...cause failure is in our rearview mirror.

The last couple of weeks of the year can be the hardest to stay focused, especially after the year we have had. This is the first year since 1948 (the year the BLS started tracking productivity) that it has decreased!
Whether it's through quiet quitting, quiet firing, or lack of engagement. Take this time to reflect and plan for a great start to 2023...which has already been named THE GREAT RESET!

The biggest dream crusher is fear, fear to try, fear to fail, fear to start. July Franco, a veteran, woman, Latina, mom, and trucker shares her experiences on how she was a Marine, rose through the ranks, and now started a trucking company with butterflies on the logo to inspire little girls and show that you can be anything.
The beauty of this episode is that you achieve things because of your network and the people around you who cheerlead for your success. July joined us in the studio, and so did her mom. It takes a community, and we are proud to be part of July's and have her in ours.

How important is negotiating your salary? It’s really important and can impact your salaries for future jobs If we look at the Latine community, as a whole, we make $0.73 on the dollar compared to non-white workers, which according to McKinsey & Company adds up to $288 Billion as a total. Imagine the generational wealth we could build or the businesses we could start with that money. Latines are currently 17.3% of the work force but in the next 8 years that number will climb to over 22%.
So if you are in the 39% of people who DO negotiate your salary…good news, 89% of the time, you will see an increase in the counteroffer.
If you're uncomfortable negotiating your salary, give this episode a listen.
