hebrews 10:19-25 - the marks of a Christian life: full assurance, holding onto the truth and encouraging each one another.
Jesus is the earthly priest who understands us and the heavenly high priest who has gone through the heavens, to enter into the presence of the Lord to offer himself.
Hebrews 2:5-18 - We are made in God's image and we are meant to rule with goodness and justice and equity. Jesus is the real human.
Jesus is better than any path of spirituality. We long to know God or get in touch with some sort of spiritual plane of existence.
We may tempted to look for spiritual fulfillment through various avenues: yoga, meditation, mindfulness. Yet Jesus is the fullness of spirituality. Hebrews 1:5-2:4.
We do not need to wonder or wander, God has spoken!
I wonder what God is like? I wonder if he is there? We do no need to wonder, for God has spoken in Jesus.
Where can I find God? In nature? In this spiritual practice? In this place?
We do not need to wander, for God has spoken in Jesus. In him God is revealed and we can know him.
Two more people encounter Jesus.
In terms of social standing and class, you could not find two people more at the opposite ends. Thought so different, Jesus says to both, you need living water/must be born again.
Nathaniel responds to the invitation come and See! People are needed to extend the invitation. He meets Jesus a sceptic and ends a believer.
Jesus has a question for us all: what are you really looking for?
His answer: come and see!
Look at my life, lived for God and for others, my life for you.
God and the spiritually satisfying life is found not through rituals, religion (traditional or otherwise) or rules. Neither is God found in a spiritual path of your own choosing or awakening.
It is found in the person of Jesus: come and see!
God is the giver of all good things. We are all headed in the same direction and end. Enjoy God as the giver while you can.
The wisdom of God is cross-centred, focused on his self giving love of us. His wisdom overturns all expected wisdom of the world.
The teacher continues on his search for fulfilment. This week he chooses the path of knowledge. How can he knows what the God's purposes?
Malachi 1 - serving God wholeheartedly since he has offered his only son - the perfect unblemished sacrifice for us.
God’s ultimate purpose is to bring all things under him in worship. Gods people will be protected and others will be brought to him
