This episode has been waiting in the wings for a while, and I’m thrilled to finally share it with you.
You see, when we ask ourselves, “What do I really want?” it’s more than just goal-setting—it’s about awakening to the potential of who we can be and the life we can create. It’s a question that can shake up our comfort zones and bring about a sense of agency that many of us are missing.
I’d love for you to tune in and explore this powerful idea with me. Together, we’ll uncover how asking this question can shift your mindset, transform your decision-making, and even draw you closer to God’s desires for your life.
Often when life doesn't feel like it's going the way we hoped or there's a general feeling of lack, we go to work trying to fill the void in whatever way we know how. But this isn't always the best plan of action. Maybe all we need is not something, but a simple shift in our thinking.
As a follow-up to last week's episode, we're exploring 3 more reasons you may be avoiding the stillness and writing in your journal - reasons like being afraid of what you might discover, and not knowing where or how to begin. May this episode inspire you to dig a little deeper and simply begin.
Sitting in stillness and journaling your thoughts may sound appealing on the surface, but what's really holding you back from trying this practice for yourself? Today, we're exploring five possible reasons why you may not be using this practice to find the calm and joy in your busy life.

The world is constantly buzzing, vying for our attention. It's hard to know what we think and sometimes even harder to remember who we are in the midst of it all. In this episode, I'm re-introducing you to a practice that literally saved my life a few years back. I went from being busy, overwhelmed, and overscheduled, to intentionally choosing stillness as a way to regroup and recenter my priorities. In this process of being still, I am able to remember who I am and what I want out of this one precious life. And I want to help you do the same.
Feeling like you don’t know who you are anymore? This one’s for you. There comes a time in each of our lives where we wake up and wonder … How did I get here? When did I get so far off track? The descent into this state of dissatisfaction is a slow drip and can disorient and even threaten to derail us when we least expect it. The good news? You’re not destined to stay in this state. In this episode, we’re talking about what to do first when you recognize the signs of dissatisfaction.
It’s easy to forget that the life you’re living today is the only thing that matters. That whatever goals and dreams you have that haven’t come true yet are still there and still available to you - in God’s perfect provision and timing. Sometimes, this isn’t the easiest thought to remember - that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be right now. Because I look ahead at the horizon and I think, “But I want to be there!” “Why am I not there yet?” “Why is it taking so long?” Listen in as I describe how I shift my mindset from feeling behind and stuck, to remembering I'm exactly where I need to be.
As children, our imaginations can take us just about anywhere. But as we get older we're inundated with messages of being responsible and realistic. We learn early on that there's a certain order to our lives once we reach adulthood - most of which includes following the path and patterns of the adults who came before us. But what if this isn't the only way to live our lives? What if dreaming as an adult has the potential to lead us into a more fulfilling lives than we ever thought possible? What if it's actually way more fun and far simpler to dream about what we want and then walk step-by-step toward that adventure than we were ever taught? In this episode I offer an alternative way of looking at your future. Of flipping the dreamer switch back on in your mind and seeing where it takes you.
Goals are great. But they don't always move the needle fast enough for me. Plus, they can often feel like ONE MORE THING TO DO on my ever crowded list. That's why I often lean into the practice of crafting VISIONS in my life instead. When you vision (or ENvision) how your life could be different, it incites a heightened level of emotion. Visions can be frightening (in a good way) - pushing you just far enough out of your comfort zone to make you feel more alive. Listen in to Part 2 of this two-part series, as I dive back into the joy and adventure that naturally come along with exploring visions for your future, rather than logically setting goals.
Worry is a part of life. But If we're not careful, worry has the ability to completely derail our mindset and steal the joy we could otherwise be experiencing. Maybe you've heard that worrying won't change the outcome or there's nothing you can do about your worry, so you may as well let it go. While true, that's easier said than done. In today's episode I'm talking specifically about what I do when worry threatens to take me out. I hope you find this little tip helpful enough to try it for yourself. Thanks for listening!
Is goal setting enough? Setting measurable, time-sensitive goals is a great practice to have, but it's not the same as creating visions in your life. Visions are uniquely your own and make you feel something long before you ever reach the finish line. Visions have a way of guiding you toward your future with greater hope and a sense of purpose. In this episode I'm talking specifically about how visions have positively moved the needle in my own life and what it looks like when they come to me in their early development stage. If you've ever found yourself feeling lost, stuck, or unsure what to do next, listen in as I share how visions have changed the way I do life and why they're such a big part of my journaling practice.
