Hosted by Jen Barajas. This podcast is intended to be a moment of presence, with its short episodes and easy to digest content. Showcasing the ranges of poetry and storytelling with a calming ambience and authentic expression. All in all this is a project for me, a 20 year old from Stockton, to intimately capture the meaning these poems hold for me (in this moment at least).
You've reached the end of my podcast! Thank you so much for wondering, experiencing , and listening with my poetry. I hope you enjoyed and maybe found something you resonate with. I sign of leaving you with one question ; How would you be living your day to day, if your life was completely stress free?
Reflect on how a friend inspires you. What people in your life fuel you to be a better you? Do you nurture them enough?
Perspective of a Latina daughter, breaking generational patterns of carrying others' pain. Learning to balance compassion for our roots while not feeling so burdened. Finding solace in knowing that a lot of our parents reactions to us, are merely projections of themselves. While learning that we're allowed to detach from others' expectations of us, and can have full control of how WE react to life.
A reflection on the past year. This entry holds an enormous place in my heart. I wrote it while visiting a friend in NYC, and it was my first time visiting a friend out of state and I was completely independent and felt so empowered. Every day I'd analyze what I wanted to do first thing in the morning. I realized that every morning I was there, I craved nourishing my soul; drinking warm water with honey and lemon, journaling facing the sunrise, watching nourishing content on YouTube such as (Hindz or Hitomimochizuki) or meditating in the living room. My entire being was excited to embrace myself and everything I had learned that made me feel nourished. Now I wouldn't say that NYC specifically was the key, but embracing myself no matter where I went definitely made itself known.
I wrote this poem after the overturn of Roe v. Wade on June 24th 2022. This day left me at a loss of words, to where writing poetry in a full face of tears was my only form of expressing such confused, angry, and sad emotions.
