DS9 Episode 18: Duet

A case of mistaken identity hits the station and everyone is confused. A visiting Cardassian becomes a double - no wait - triple agent by pretending to be a person who is already dead... which is a pretty important part to consider when assuming a false identity no? Jo clumsily improvises costume and gender theory and Thomas recounts the sweet sounds of a spaceside sing-along on the USS Voyager.

DS9 Episode 7: Dax

Some call it a waste of time. Others call it a tremendous waste of time but here we are going back to a DS9 episode for a second time! Because the last recording got screwed up, we knew it was time to make up lost work for extra credit, but luckily this episode was particularly forgettable! Enjoy!

DS9 Episode 17:  Forsaken

Remember when the DS9 space station was responsible for holding a strategic toe hold for the federation monitoring all activity near a newly discovered and potentially very valuable worm hole?  No?  Well apparently, nobody else remembers either!  The lads discuss how the sausage is made behind the scenes in the podcast game, and you can take a page out of our lesson book and experience for yourself how one software update can screw up half of your audio!  Enjoy!

DS9 Episode 16: If Wishes Were Horses

The boys are in for another whirlwind adventure of being jerked around by aliens who pop in for an hour then warp the fuck outta there.  Tommy waxes nostalgic about the good old baseball's waning presence in the hearts and minds of today, and Jo goes apeshit about video games.  Call in and or leave a review to tell us when or if we're ever going to turn the corner!

DS9 Episode 15: Progress

Kira, Kira, Kira...what are we going to do with you?  Imagine any show or movie that you've seen where a young person needs something from a hermetic old person.  Now stick it into a Star Trek series, but no nothing actually happens in space.  90% of what you're already imagining happens, but hey there's a surprise twist at the end, so do tune in!  The lads misquote Batman, overanalyze bad banter, and improvise subtext all for the sake of thrusting deeper into this pod's thesis: Who actually could enjoy this show?

DS9 Episode 14 - The Storyteller

O'Brien and Bashir have their hands full with a superstitious sect haunted by a destructive demon cloud while Nog and Jake put on their thinking caps to scooch closer to a new girl on campus.  Sound like Star Trek?  In this (podcast) episode Jo and Tom get down to business and talk about the real mystery currently puzzling humanity: When was the last time you stopped and thought about Mel Gibson's "The Patriot"?  Call in and let us know!

DS9 Episode 13* - Battle Lines

How to put this episode into words?  Well In 2013, Keith DeCandido gave the episode a rating of 6 out of 10 for Tor.com, writing that it was "not a great episode by any means, but a pretty decent, if standard, science fiction story."  The away team gets tangled in a civil war where nobody can die - eventually the squad is found and they leave leaving you wishing you had changed the channel.  Sound boring?  Well thankfully Major Kira cranks it to 11 and saves the (podcast) episode!

*Could actually be DS9 episode 12 or 14 or whatever

DS9 Episode 11:  Vortex

The boys are back to review another ripper where Quark is making mischief again by jostling an intergalactic powder keg between two anatomically incorrect alien infractors.  Sisko is inept but what  else is new?  Odo creeps out and gets creeped out, and Kira asks you to please - just stop.  Plus It's a cliff hanger that begs consideration of just letting it all go!

DS9 Episode 10:  The Nagus The staff of the DS9 get paid a visit by the oldest scrotum in the galaxy!  If that doesn't whet your appetite, you can take a peak into the not so distant future holo-whore business and tremble along with a 90s dad's deepest fear of having a son in the closet.  Confused?  Well welcome to the decimal episode of both DS9 and DS9 Time with Jo and Thomas!  Leave a comment on iTunes or whatever and we'll probably reveal our shock on the show!

DS9 Episode 9:  Move Along Home

Stop.  Take a breath.  You're safe now.  We know you've had a hard time, but just focus on the good things in life.  Star Trek: Deep Space 9 breaks new ground on delivering a new cosmic shit that leaves us all nonplussed.  Low-effort aliens, bizarre character decisions, and maybe the worst non-ending TV ending ever executed in TV history all makes for a classic DS9 watching / podcasting experience.  The comic book guy makes a come back and new sidestory seeds are planted which doubtfully will sprout into anything.  Klong Piggs, Hop Scotch, Shapp...games...words.....sounds.......nothing.

DS9 Episode 8:  The Passenger

After a loooong break episode 8 comes in hot!  With the gang on DS9 having to deal once again with that pesky but reliable nuisance of a random alien showing up and sabotaging the station.  Odo the amorphous stick up everyone's ass turns out doesn't appreciate the taste of his own medicine.  O'Brien's on vacay, Dax says science, and Sisko likes you - and needs you. Also, what do you do when you happen to witness a spontaneous casual execution?  Apparently you just shrug your shoulders and go on living your life.  Bon appetit!

DS9 Episode 6:  Q-Less

As if the station didn't have enough to deal with - Q talks shit and gets hit OOOOOOoooooooh!!!  We learn about Nielsen ratings and MacGuffin devices.  It turns out Bashir is a smooth talkin' douche afterall, and nobody can seem to remember who O'Brien is or what he's doing there.  In the end, what can we all really take away from this episode?  Quarkgasm.

DS9 Episode 5:  Captive Pursuit

O'Brien meets his new froggy boyfriend and throwback night-rider dweebs come a'knockin.  Sisko:  What... would y'say...y'do here??  Quark gets accused of sexual misconduct, and O'Brien gives the middle finger to the prime directive, but who really gives a shit right?  Keira, Dax, and the doctor all have 1 line while we wonder on Earth what kind of psychopaths actually enjoyed watching this pile of shit-show.  Enjoy!

DS9 Episode 4:  Babel

A strain of ball-busting takes over the station threatening the office dynamic of mediocrity and lackluster work.  Sisko likes his coffee black and / or hot, Kiera uses kidnapping against a bio-terrorist, and Quark finally fucks the smirk right off Odo's smug amorphous face.  In this episode, the future of humanity must deal with a contagious and deadly virus but apparently has learned nothing from their 2020 ancestors!

DS9 Episode 3:  A Man Alone

The boys tackle the controversial topic of racism. in. Spaaaaace.  O'Brien's balls get busted and is Sisko really trying to chat up his fatherly-hot-new-trans-old good buddy?  Apparently everyone has to spin the wheel of disgruntled DS9 staffers, and this week's winner is: Odo.  Tune in to hear the sciencey stuff that solves the classic mystery plot device of: murder in the massage parlour!

DS9 Episode 2:  Past Prologue

Well right from the start there's confusion as to whether or not we actually watched the second episode.  Major Kira gets manhandled and Commander Sisko shows none of his recently found charm and joie de vivre unlocked in the last episode.  Also there probably was a rat wrangler on set.

Our first try at podcasting about a show neither of us know very much about!  It's Star Trek: Deep Space 9 for those of us who gave it a chance and quickly changed the channel and never looked back - until now nearly 20 years later!

Star Trek DS9 Episode 1:  Emissary

Similar to most of the characters introduced in the first episode, we felt confused, irritable, and wanting to get the hell out of there.  Right from the start we're left wondering if studying this show was a good idea or not...
