We are the moms that gave birth during the 2020 COVID-19 global pandemic. We share the unique experience of not having a single book, website, or even doctor be able to tell us what to expect. Our partners weren’t allowed in appointments to see ultrasounds, check ups were through barricades (if even in person), medical professionals could barely guide the general population let alone pregnant women. And yet due dates drew nearer, admitting forms were signed, and at the end of the day- we brought a little light into 2020. We’re here to tell our stories.
This week I had the pleasure of getting to hear my dear friend Nadyne (another one of our Canadian moms!) tell her son's birth story and oh, man. I'm going to give a tissue warning right now - she did not have a simple straightforward labor and delivery and will have you right there feeling all the feels right with her. I hope you cherish her story and openness as much as I do, enjoy!
CW: Traumatic birth, NICU
This week I am joined by my friend Jaclyn, our first international guest from our friendly Canadian neighbors to the north. She has a beautiful story about the joys of becoming pregnant agains all odds, how she struggled with pregnancy and birth throughout ever changing COVID protocols, and giving a very real perspective of the mental, physical, and emotional toll of having a baby in the NICU during a pandemic . I'm incredibly excited to share her story with you ...enjoy!
CW: NICU, pre-existing medical conditions
Today I get to pleasure of sharing the birth story of my friend Liz and her sweet boy, Bennett! Liz's story is full of details that brought me right back to the delivery room and took turns even she was not prepared for. But her emotion and realness brought so much to our conversation. I can’t wait to share it with you!
CW: Cesarean Birth
This week I had the pleasure of chatting with my friend Kendra about her birth story and the rollercoaster of moving to a new state within days of lockdown, navigating L&D prep in a pandemic, a fast birth with hilarious support, and best of all - the bond between her and little Rosie! I hope you enjoy it and laugh as much as we did during recording!
CW: Miscarriage, Fertility Treatments
This episode we dive into a very personal story - my own! I had the pleasure of recording Alfie's birth story on the evening of his first birthday with my husband, Dan. It brought back a lot memories, emotions, and laughs and was the perfect way to celebrate a year of motherhood. Alfie took his sweet time coming into the world and made the world hold it's breath with him in his first moments. It was an experience always cherish. Enjoy!
