Denkyem Youth is a youth social action group which is part of the Suffolk Black Community Forum. We aim to raise awareness and educate people on the issues faced by African and Caribbean people. Most importantly we are young, gifted and black this is our space to celebrate that. Denkyem is a Crocodile, it is a Ghanaian Adinkra symbol. It represents adaptability and intelligence from the proverb, “Ɔdɛnkyɛm da nsuo mu nansoɔhome mframa,” meaning “The crocodile lives in water yet it breathes air.”

We have the strength of a crocodile to overcome barriers, we have the intricate beauty of their scales in the depths of our incredible heritage and culture.
