Connecting Conversations was created by Family Fuse to promote and connect with our local partners and shed light on current social justice issues.
Family Fuse is a nonprofit organization based in Windsor, Ontario, Canada. Our mission? To support Black Canadian parents, guardians, and caregivers who want to help their school age children to excel in all areas of education and in life in general. We work together with parents to raise equity and provide valuable insight into how their children can be encouraged by parent involvement.
We have a great conversation with Kurt Downes about Border City Athletic's mission and vision in the community as they work with elite athletes in Track and Field. To date, Border City Athletics has over 100 athletes representing their organization including Olympians Brandon McBride and Miah Marie Langlois among other notable athletes. The organization also has many community initiatives eager towards growing the women’s side of sports and youth engagement.

We had the pleasure of speaking with Build a Dream's founder, Nour Hachem-Fawaz. Nour goes into detail about the societal mindsets that exist as barriers for women entering skilled labour and trades like becoming electricians, construction workers, etc. We also speak about the internal misogyny that women can sometimes face when entering male-dominated workplaces/environments, and how Build a Dream's mission is working to dismantle this.
