For almost 45 years bike messengers have been an integral part of the underground community of San Francisco.
It started as a community that welcomed everyone who wanted an alternative path to a traditional career; however, the movement grew so quickly that messengers directly influenced city infrastructure by advocating for bike lanes and cyclist rights during the nineties.
Messengers have been able to reinvent themselves many times despite the constant threat that technological advances such as fax, email, e-signatures, and now self-driving cars have posed to the survival of the community. Today, messengers in this city are not only surviving but are thriving, listen to our podcast on the current state of bike messengers in San Francisco.

Henry Michalski is a San Francisco resident born in Kazakhstan with a rich history in the Bay Area. His parents, Joska and Fela Michalski, survived one of the darkest periods in world history, the Holocaust. Michalski learned about what his family went through and wrote their story in a book titled: “Torn Lilacs: A True WWII Story of Love, Defiance and Hope,” self-published in October 2020.

Me Me Khant became a graduate student at Stanford, studying international policy, and an active organizer with San Francisco’s Free Burma Action committee. She continues to organize and to support the protesters in her country and use her most powerful tool: poetry.

In this first season and my first semester of being a multimedia editor, Gator Talk and The Chomp have reached 5 hours worth of listening time. In those 5 hours between the two shows, there have been news briefs, sports breakdowns, attempts at making jokes, and more importantly - interviews. Five hours is about a drive from Los Angeles to San Francisco so this is huge! Thank you!
The school semester is coming to an end so that means our regular weekly content will also be coming to an end, well at least just for summer break. Kind of like season break? We have a few episodes left to air, so no the vayas! There will be a few episodes that will air during the Summer Break - so check your subscriptions wherever you podcast!
