FIGHTING ADDICTIONS
Addiction is a repeated involvement with a substance or activities despite the substantial harm that it now causes because the involvement was and will continue to be pleasurable or valuable.
Struggling with habits is almost as old as humanity. The bible's solution for overcoming temptation is that God brings you out of it. Your deliverance from temptation is the work of God. You are not meant to deliver yourself. If you're trying to deliver yourself, you're in trouble. Faith is evidence in the unseen. Let God be true and everything else lies!!.
Whether you believe it or not God has done it already. In your spirit there is victory, in your soul, you are aligning with what God has said. You might be struggling but you have been delivered! Overcoming habits is a result of mind renewal. Watch yourself according to the word of God, not the last time you fell.
HOW TO FIGHT AGAINST ADDICTIONS

Accept the new perspective that God has delivered you.

Burn bridges.
Identify your weaknesses and burn the bridges that connect you to them.
If you accept the new perspective and you don't burn bridges, you will still fall. Stop gratifying the flesh. Abominate idleness from your mind. Some temptations come to everybody but temptation always comes to the idle man. Avoid and guard against unnecessary ...
- Exchange your weakness for His strength.
You must desire the things of God. Invest also in a compelling dream. When you give room for the Spirit of god the devil will have no room in your life.

God has delivered me!! In temptation, what you focus on, is what will happen. Temptations are suggestive thoughts.

You aren't a second class person in God's agenda because you are single.
Things to know about being single
• Singleness is not a time to explore, it's a time to be alone. Some of us are always chasing distractions, trying to escape our lives. We need to learn to enjoy our own company.
• Singleness is a time to heal and move on from past hurts.A time to build good platonic relationships and create healthy boundaries with members of the opposite sex.
• Singleness is the best time to serve God, to discover yourself, work on becoming better, start building things that will last.
When moving to a talking stage
•Exploration
Finding out what's there, asking questions, finding out about gender roles, perspectives on life, family finance, etc.
•Negotiation
Trying to figure out if some things can be changed or compromises made. Negotiation should be done in a non confrontational way so that even if no common ground is reached, there isn't any bitterness or bad blood.
•[Flirtation]
Learn to be a sweet person, listen to the things they say, being attentive to their complaints. Notice the sacrifices and efforts to change things that you've complained about.
As you transition to dating
•Date someone that God can talk to. This is important, but not complete.
•Date someone that is accountable to someone else, as confirmed by that person. Someone that can speak to them when they're being unreasonable.

Growth as a believer is not individualistic, it's corporate. God doesn't desire for the believer to try to grow alone, his plan for growth is the local church.
He's appointed gifts (pastors, teachers, evangelists etc) to the church, for the building up and equipping of believers. So that we all come to the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the son of God. Eph 4:11-14.
This is God's idea , the local church.
However, even if you're in a working system and are not doing what you're supposed to be doing, you won't grow.
What do you need to do?

Buying. This means to accept something as truth. How much of the truth you've heard from scriptures have you accepted as your truth? You need to buy the truth of the scriptures.

Practicing the truth you've accepted. It's not enough to hear and accept, you need to practice what you believe, walk in it. Be a doer.

Accountability. Being accountable, liable to be called to account. The believer should be accountable to the local church, he/she should submit to authority in the local church. The local church is the highest authority in the life of the believer.

Obedience. The believer is to learn to obey instructions in the local church. Not downsizing it, not adjusting it, but simply obeying it

Beyond your noble reasons for being in church, God has an agenda. And that's for you to grow. And keep growing.
We see from scriptures how we're saved by grace through faith, not by anything we've done. Eph 2:8.However, after salvation, we all want to be better people, we want to live godly lives, be good and better Christians and that's good.
Paul in Eph 4:28, tells those who did wrong to do them no more.
How can this be achieved, how do you stop doing the wrong things? You've probably tried your best and didn't have results. Paul again in Rom 7:15-24 talks about the wretchedness of man, how he finds himself doing the things he doesn't want to do and not doing the things he wants to do. He goes further to explain that there's no condemnation for those in Christ and the law of the spirit has made us free from sin and death.
You've been set free. This is a perspective to have. And the first step to the aforementioned result is to believe this.You may not feel like it, you may not see it, but you need to believe it.
How does what you believe become your reality? Transformation comes as a result of a renewal of the mind, Eph 4:7-24.Things won't change if you don't believe that you've been set free and then go on to renew your mind.
The devil has a stronghold in the hearts of people, making them believe that transformation is impossible. God has said that it is possible.

Prayer Lessons For Maturing Believers
Why do you pray the way you do? Is it because that's the socially acceptable way, the traditional way? Or because that's the way to do it as you've seen from the word.
We see that we've been delivered from the power of darkness and that the charges of legal indebtedness against us have been cancelled. And so in prayer, we are to approach God with boldness and confidence. Heb 4:16

When you say that God's plan for you is to spread the gospel, do you really believe it?
We've trained ourselves to say things that we don't believe.
Realize that God desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of truth. 1Tim 2:3Men teach men the gospel, who in turn teach other people. This is how the gospel spreads.
Many of us haven't learned to take responsibility for the spread of the gospel. We need to change that. The ministry we've received isn't something we do only when you feel like. Actively participate in the spread of the gospel, whether you feel pumped or not.
How to set yourself on fire for God:
•You must be a person of prayer. Build an actual prayer life. When you do this, you'll be able to talk like one with authority. You'll also be filled with wisdom
• Be unceasing in prayer. Pick extra times for prayer. Build adventures in the place of prayer.

Thanksgiving should be the natural disposition of man towards life.
1 Thessalonians 5v16-18; Rejoice evermore, Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (Verse 18 is amplified version)
As Christians, we cannot trust our natural senses to lead us in the way that we should go. The Bible is God’s standard for living, it’s one standard fits all. As such, we would be dealing with thanksgiving in two major areas- Spiritual life and the world.
1- Spiritual Life- Ephesians 2 verse 2/3/5/8/9/12.
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
5 Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;
8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

The Genius of the salvation plan was in it’s ability to be Just and Merciful. Our thanks to God is rooted is his merciful Justice expressed in the salvation plan through Christ. Once we lose the reverence of this, we stop being thankful.

Ways on how we can grant yourself the permission to receive healing;
-Accept the fact that the deed has been done and move on.
-You must embrace your own story. Perfection is a journey.
- When you embrace your story, you can change your narrative.
-Know that regret leads to mistakes.
-Convince yourself about what God has said about you. God's promises are a powerful tool.
-Allow others give you the permission to be healed.
Our fulfillment of destiny is not hinged in our own faithfulness but on God’s ability to bring to accomplishment, all that he has promised.

The ministry of Jesus to the overburdened and vulnerable is explained in Isaiah 61:1-3
To have the healing experience, you first must acknowledge helplessness.
The knowledge of your helplessness comes before salvation. John 8:32- And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.
After acknowledging helplessness, you open up, after which you’ll feel light like a burden is lifted off you. And that's when you start to heal.

A local church is God's platform for training a believer for the work of ministry and also a believer is trained to achieve purpose in the local church.
What is God passionate about? he is not passionate about wealth or good economy but he is more passionate about salvation, he wills that all men are saved and also come to the knowledge of the truth (2tim 2:1-4, 2pet3:9)
According to Charles Spurgeon we are either believers or imposters, we as believers are supposed to be passionate about souls. When we see the need for salvation we will evangelize more. Our passion for the preaching of the gospel should transcend all areas of our lives. There is joy in heaven when a soul is won.
Every believer has a single purpose, which is to let people know what Christ has done on the cross. Purpose is that one thing we must achieve that nothing else counts, never confuse your assignment for purpose. Where your treasure is, there your heart is.
We can identify a good local church when:
a. They have a good understanding of the gospel. (1tim3:16, gal 1:8)
b. They must have a good theology on money, money is a spiritual stethoscope. it shows the state of a believers spiritual health(1tim6:5-6 matt 6:19-20)
c. The charismatic ministry must be taught and practiced fully. The charismatic is an actual bait to lure unbelievers
d. They must be mission-minded and also train members to evangelize.
My role in my local church

I always must be available for meetings and also participate in other activities, a local church is Gods platform for training us for the work of ministry.

Commitment to every activity is very key because our growth as believers takes place in a local church.
