Starting with the 1936 thirteen part serial entitled “FLASH GORDON” - made by UNIVERSAL PICTURES (and based upon the cartoon strip of the same name created by Alex Raymond), Andy & Martin present a commentary podcast featuring the science-fiction serials that featured in cinemas in the 1930s.
Commentary on FLASH GORDON CONQUERS THE UNIVERSE, Chapter Twelve:
"DOOM OF THE DICTATOR"
This marks the end of our commentaries on the original three Universal FLASH GORDON serials from the 1930s & 1940s featuring Larry "Buster" Crabbe in the title role. We do hope that you've enjoyed joining us as we made this journey through popular sci-fi with the unsponsored aid of far too many (if you can EVER have too many) Peppermint Bubbles...
And fear not, in some form or other, "SPACE SOLDIERS!" will return...!
Commentary on FLASH GORDON CONQUERS THE UNIVERSE, Chapter Seven:
"THE LAND OF THE DEAD"
Commentary on FLASH GORDON CONQUERS THE UNIVERSE, Chapter Five:
"THE PALACE OF HORROR"
Includes a bonus interview in which Andy meets a man with a shiny Flash helmet - Neil Cole from 'The Museum of Classic Sci-Fi' (which you can find at Osborne House (The Peth), Allendale (near Hexham), Northumberland NE47 9BJ)
Commentary on FLASH GORDON CONQUERS THE UNIVERSE, Chapter Four:
"THE DESTROYING RAY"
(Which should never be confused with the original FLASH GORDON serial's Chapter Five, "THE DESTROYING RAY")
Our commentary on FLASH GORDON'S TRIP TO MARS, Chapter Thirteen "THE MIRACLE OF MAGIC" was interrupted half way through due to technical problems. We decided to start over from the beginning of the episode. This is our first take which covers just the first ten minutes before the gremlins bit, but it gives you a similar but different commentary on the first half of the episode which our regular listeners might enjoy.
FLASH GORDON
CHAPTER THREE
"CAPTURED BY SHARK MEN"
Deciding that a podcast looking into the science-fiction serials that featured in cinemas in the 1930s and beyond was long overdue, Andy and Martin set about rectifying this omission.
Starting with the 1936 thirteen part serial entitled “FLASH GORDON” - made by UNIVERSAL PICTURES and based upon the cartoon strip of the same name created by Alex Raymond, they have decided to create a running commentary upon every single chapter, episode by episode, until the entire story is covered.
After this, they plan upon moving on to its sequels, “FLASH GORDON’S TRIP TO MARS” and “FLASH GORDON CONQUERS THE UNIVERSE” before turning their attention to other serials made in the same era.
However, before any of that can happen, they firstly turn their attention to “CAPTURED BY SHARK MEN” in which FLASH'S bad day has got worse as he is being squeezed by the mighty claws of a huge beast that lives in the Tunnel of Terror beneath Emperor Ming's palace...
FLASH GORDON
CHAPTER TWO
"THE TUNNEL OF TERROR"

CHAPTER ONE
"THE PLANET OF PERIL"
