One of the really cool features of the Gospel of Mark is that it can be heard aloud in a little over an hour. Some folks have even committed the entire Gospel to memory.
It is the most binge-able Gospel.

We talk about four key and central ways that Lutherans engage the Bible:
- Law and Gospel (Comfort for the Afflicted and Afflict the Comfortable)
- What Shows Forth Christ (the Bible as the Cradle for God's love in Jesus)
- Scripture interpreting scripture (context matters!)
- The Plain Meaning of the Text (the Bible is not the Davinci code)
- Public Interpretation (we read best when our stories and God's stories meet)
In this episode, we look at how people's lived experience, their surroundings, challenges, joys, and time period shaped the way they encountered God. You will also hear:
- Some good historical questions worth asking a text
- Why isn't the Bible as concerned with exact historical fact
- Does God's story tell the history of the winners or the losers/ordinary?

Join us for a conversation about a literary (not literal) reading of scripture. Dust off those metaphors and personification, because we are diving into the words within the Word.

- The urgency of these writings, born out of struggle and crises (maybe like our own today in pandemic...)
