Silly Sound of Music reference aside,
This week we spoke with Shawnee from @shawneejolyne, whom is a Early Childhood Development Trainer for the State of Idaho.
We talk about one of her favorite subjects: instilling confidence in our children.
The short answer? Modeling.
The long answer? Still modeling.
We are back! Season 2 friends!
Hope you had a wonderful summer and we are starting full force with all our favorite fecal fights.
Ew. How was that worse than just saying poop?
When was the last time you pooped your pants?
Do you know the difference between feelings & emotion?
Just like there is more than one way to be a good mom,
there is more than one way to be a good dad.
Today we hear from Lexie's dad about showing love in the home and spending quality time together.
Just like there is more than one way to be a good mom,
there is more than one way to be a good dad.
Today we hear from Jessica's dad about fun ways to spend time with your kids and the differences between parenting today and parenting in the past.
Hello! We took a bit of a break to let Jessica recover from her surgery. Listen to hear the good news and few changes for upcoming episodes!
Thanks for being here. We love talking and interacting with you.

Welcome Sierra from @thesierrajoy to talk about the Johnny Depp & Amber Heard trial that is happening now. Why are we all consumed with this trial? Who is lying?
Who takes more drugs?
Who knows the definition of donation versus pledge?
I mean, we don't know the answers either but we are going to talk about it anyway.

Traveling with kids is hard.
With extensive planning, so many tips and tricks we share with each other, and all the treats and toys to bribe our way through...
It's still so challenging.
We can do so much to prepare for a long road trip or flying alone with babies and toddlers but remember, it's okay to have a breakdown. It's okay to ask for help. It's okay that your kids are acting like kids.
You are amazing and we are proud of you for venturing out in the world!
Like Jessica's grandma always said: "Have diapers: will travel"
Thanks for listening! If you enjoyed today's episode, please share with your friends. Send us your traveling success or horror stories and we will read them on one of the next episodes!
What would you do in a zombie apocalypse?
What is the best apocalypse?
How do you save your children with death defying odds??
And should trees have wifi?

(Content warning: although approached in a silly manner, some situations may be anxiety inducing with topics regarding death and disaster)
Well, we have bad news. We can't cure your rectal bleeding.
It's a bad sign you could have endometriosis (which is extremely common).
Listen to our episode to hear Jessica's road to diagnosis and know that these symptoms are not normal:
-Extremely Painful Periods
-Pain with Sex
-Pain with Bowel Movements and Urination
-Rectal Bleeding,
and so much more!!
Please seek help from a true endometriosis specialist if you are struggling with these symptoms and this episode sounds a little too familiar.
And if it doesn't, remember, YOU DO know someone with endometriosis, whether or not you realize it. Another reason to be kind to all the people we meet, right?

Have a wonderful week. We love you.
You are a good mom.
Taking a break from the heaviness of parenting to enjoy some very strongly worded reviews from the internet,
from classics like the banana slicer and sugar-free gummy bears to sweetened condensed water, we enjoy the antics of professional reviewers.
If they aren't paid, they ought to be.
What are your favorite reviews you've ever read? Tell us on instagram at @howtomoms

For the first of our guest series we have
Deidre!
We ask her all about her book of lectures that shaped the majority of parenting teenagers. Although her kids received each lecture dozens of times, they look back on them fondly, appreciating the dedication to consistency it takes to get through to some strong willed and stubborn children!
We know that we have so much to learn from each other and want to share as many perspectives of motherhood that we can because there is no one way to be a good mother.
You already are.
You are a wonderful mother.
You are the person your children need.
You are capable and strong, even if it doesn't feel like it sometimes.
You have the power to know exactly what your children need.
As Deidre says, "trust yourself."
We love you. We hope this episode brings you joy and comfort and strength.
If you enjoyed it, please share with your friends or take a screenshot of the show, share to your stories on Instagram and tag us! We would love to hear from you! @howtomoms
(Part 2: Jessica's birth stories with preeclampsia, HELLP syndrome, and a micro preemie.)
"Cook" as in gestation. As in pregnancy. Just to be clear. Okay? Okay.
Love a good birth story? We share ours and share submissions from our friends, family, and followers.
From high highs to low lows, birth stories can give us all kinds of feels:
Joy, elation, pride, strength, perseverance.
But there can also be worry, pain, disappointment, and trauma.
There is room for all of these feelings. We deserve to see and hear everybody's story, even if they aren't sunshine and rainbows.
Tell us your birth story and tag us on Instagram @howtomoms
Or screenshot this episode to share in your stories; sharing helps us reach more people and we would be so grateful! :)

Having someone else to love? It's great.
Loving yourself? Amazing. Irreplaceable. Priceless.
But it's not super easy all the time.
Things change; our bodies, our circumstances, our health, our relationships.
But you will always be with yourself. Be nice to you. We love you.

Shhhh... we know it's February. But it does go with the theme, which is
TAKE A CHILL PILL.
Goals are great. Self improvement is awesome. But let's be gentle with ourselves.
We talk about how being apart of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints effects our goals for 2022 and parenting.
We also discuss resources for goals related to parenting, body image, exercise, leaving diet culture, and examples of TRUSTING YOURSELF.
You are the best mom for your kids regardless of what goals you do or don't have.

"Is she a good baby?"
"No, she definitely came from the depths of hell to terrorize you, Lisa"
We talk about everything that this question misses when we boil down the newborn experience to "good" or "bad".
Postpartum depression, anxiety, feeding and sleeping troubles, body changes, and generally feeling overwhelmed.
Why do we do it? Why do we miss a beautiful opportunity to be able to see and support others?
Your experiences are unique. You are doing hard things, even if others don't see it.
You are a great mom.
SPOILER ALERT we are discussing Encanto at length.
How many times have you watched Encanto?
It is on all the time over here and it is hitting us in all the feels.
What is the most powerful part?
Does it make you cry?
WHY DIDN'T MIRABEL GET A GIFT
Tell us your feelings and theories on instagram! @howtomoms
"Stop screaming!" As you scream at them, while they scream. We all scream, and it's probably not for ice cream.
What makes you most upset as a mom and as a person? How can we avoid invalidating others' experiences? How can we show each other and ourselves a little grace?
Let us know what you think @howtomoms on instagram.

You know those embarrassing moments that keep you awake at night?
We have them too! Hear some of our embarrassing moments as children, adults, and parents.
They say that you learn more from failure than success, and we think the same principle extends to us in the world of social norms. We learn a lot more about ourselves by being our whole selves, even if that whole self can be a little uncool.
Why is Christmas so hard?
As moms, we have a lot on our plates. And that doesn't even take into account the struggles of daily life.
If you are having trouble getting into the Christmas spirit this year, we feel you.
We share some of our favorite Christmas traditions and activities based on spending time with each other, and recall our favorite Christmas memories.
The best memories are ones that are simple. Kind. Small.
You got this.
The word fine is a contronym.
"Exquisite" yet also "just okay"
We all make mistakes. Let's give ourselves and our children more grace. Let's apologize early and often. In this episode we are talking about some of the basic struggles of motherhood and we would love to hear your responses!
What is your favorite thing about being a mom?
What personality traits have been with you (or your child) since birth?
What do you find the most challenging as a mom?
