And for this special day, I thought Iโd pick the minds of some exceptional drummers I know to share their glorious wisdom with you. Andโฆ. here they are! ๐ ๐ถ๐๐ฐ๐ต ๐๐ถ๐น๐บ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ is the drummer for the former band โHer Lifted Miindโ in the Twin Cities area. Mitch currently lives in Seattle, WA, and has played at Twin Cities venues like The Cabooze. Mitch says, "I think everyone should try to learn an instrument at some point in their lives, the feeling of communicating nonverbally through music is the best feeling in the world and I want everybody to be able to experience that." ๐ ๐ถ๐ธ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐น๐ฒ๐ถ๐ is the drummer for Splimit and Turkey Sandwich in the Twin Cities area. Mikey currently lives in St. Paul, MN, and has played at Twin Cities venues like The Whiskey Junction. Mikey says, "When youโre feeling nervous on stage, just breathe and remember, this is why we practice.โ You can find Splimitโs album: The Lumberland Success on Spotify. ๐ ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ฒ๐น ๐๐บ๐ต๐ผ๐น๐๐ฒ is a drummer for the Kracker Jacks Drumline. The drumline has played numerous times in the Twin Cities Area for parades. If thereโs been a parade in Minnesota, theyโve likely been there. Michael says, โThe best gift I ever received was a broken drum. You canโt beat it.โ What a drum jokester. ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ ๐ช๐ถ๐ด๐ต๐ฎ๐บ plays bass for The Aftergreens but writes the drum parts for the band in the Twin Cities area. Eric says, "The art of drumming in a band is so much more than playing cool solos. Itโs about syncopation with the other members and instruments in the band and vibing off of their energy. Oh yeah, in my first funky drumming podcast episode, I'm chatting it up with my good friend, ๐ฅ๐ผ๐ฏ ๐ ๐ฐ๐๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ฒ, on the difference between soundproofing and sound treatment... yes, my mind was blown a little as well when I learned from him how crucial this difference is. "Soundproofing has to do with any sound that is traveling from one room to any other space or to any space outside of that room or vise-versa. Sound treatment has everything to do with how you're making the sound inside of the room quality. There are two different aspects of sound treatment for a room: absorption and diffusion. ๐๐ฏ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฝ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป is where sound travels into something and that energyโthe waves are actually sucked up by whatever that material is. And they just stop there and they don't go anywhere. ๐๐ถ๐ณ๐ณ๐๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป is where sound travels and it bounces off of something but then it's redirectedโthat sound wave is redirected multiple times in a very small space so that eventually it loses energy and it just fizzles out." โRob McCabe.
