In part two of our latest chat with Danny, after maybe a slightly too long story about toilet training we tackle the heavy topic of our mental health, how we’re dealing with that and also how we’re working on our relationships with our wives as well. Often two topics that take a back seat to parenting but important nonetheless…

It’s part two of my latest conversation with good friend of the show, Paul, in the first episode we did a bit of a switcheroo where he interviewed me and this is the continuation of that episode where we talk about things like Nature vs Nurture, encouraging kids to express their feelings, core childhood memories that involve McDonald’s and we finish on the life lesson of pleasure and pain in sports because we just couldn’t avoid talking about sports twice.

In this special episode, a friend of the show (Paul) returns, takes over the mic and interviews Della’s Dad.

They dive into what life’s really like right now: living with the grandparents, gearing up for baby number two, and navigating the chaos (and joy) of the toddler phase. From the ups and downs of spending more time with Della, to the challenges of daycare, discipline, and prepping her for a baby brother. From taking time off work to be more present, the cultural quirks of parenting in Australia vs the US, and the decisions we make that shape our children's personalities... and inevitably, the rules for enjoying sports

This week, it’s part 2 of our conversation with Paul, an Aussie dad raising 3 kids in Denver Colorado.

This part of our chat is sleep-centric where we talk about bedtimes and sleep schedules plus also taking your kids out to dinner and having date night at home. Sleep plays such an outsized role in raising our kids, and for our own health as well, so there’s never really going to be just one or two main sleep episodes per se, it’s an evolving topic that can be handled and experienced in so many different ways with our kids so it’s why I’ll keep asking every parent about it.

As a side note I’ve found that it’s just too hard to keep all the information you’ve learned in your head at once so sometimes you just need to hear something again at the right time for it to help you, so enjoy.

It's the return of the Paul, an Aussie Dad raising three kids (aged 8, 7 and 3) in Denver Colorado. The last time he was on the show, Della was merely a few months old. A lot has changed since then. We talk about why he thinks age 3 might just be the magical age we have to make it to in the early years and talk about how to say No to young children which is what I’m learning about now with Della. Also, how to assess risk when it comes to your kids. Paul’s a really thoughtful guy with this parenting stuff which makes for good conversation so please enjoy.

I’ve broken our conversation into two parts, on the next one Paul and I talk about bedtimes, sleep schedules and taking your kids out to dinner. Sleep is such an important element in raising our kids I figured it deserved its own episode.

Thanks for listening and if you’re enjoying the show please rate and review or just share with someone who may be interested. Cheers!

We talk about how the business owning parents balance the demands of running businesses while also prioritizing their kids (hint, one approach is to open a kids playground called Space Club!) and staying sane in the process.
