Lee Crooks graduated from high school with dreams of pursuing a career in music, but destiny had other plans. After a few career pivots Lee landed in the world of voice acting, specifically narration, and in 1997 he auditioned for the Chicago Transit Authority(CTA). For the past 25+ years Lee's voice has been informing millions of commuters daily which stop they are arriving at, which side the doors are closing, and what El train they are currently riding on. CTA isn't his only client however and on this episode I talk with him about all of that and more.

During the past 10 years, the Illinois Tollway has hiked toll fares four times. Today, tolls sit at $1.50 minimum, up $0.80 a decade earlier. Revenues collected from tolls and fines for missed tolls have gone up 90% in those 10 years.
