By the time we reach our 40’s and 50’s, chances are, we’ve tried quite a few different diets. We came of age during the diet culture of the 80’s and 90’s, so this certainly isn’t breaking news. But what you may not know, is that these top 7 weight loss strategies are actually fat traps in disguise.
In this episode of Your Midlife Comeback Story, we’re going to answer the question… what exactly are those top 7 weight loss strategies that we all seem to fall back on, and why aren’t they working? And today, because I didn’t want this information to go in one ear and out the other, you’re getting an unexpected bonus. I made this a little more memorable for you by naming these 7 weight loss strategies with some fun 80’s nostalgia.
I’m going out on a limb and guessing that you’ve probably tried at least 3 of these 7 strategies. And no judgement here, because I’ve done all of them! But I’m wondering… are you going to resonate more with The Pac Man, or maybe The Mullet, or maybe you’ve had a friend convince you to do Hands Across America with her.
If you’re interested in learning more about the top 7 weight loss strategies that are keeping your weight plateaued, and are maybe even causing you to gain weight, then keep listening, because this episode is for you. At the end, you’ll also get 1 1/2 additional weight loss strategies that I recommend, and that actually work for long-term, sustainable results.

If you’re a woman in midlife, chances are, you’ve experienced at least one situation where you were at an event where there was something decadent to eat. And because you were on a diet or trying to lose weight, or eat healthier, you were tempted. Maybe you were out to dinner with your spouse or friends and they brought out this tantalizing dessert tray, or maybe it was the monthly office birthday party where they were serving Costco cake, or maybe it was over the holidays and every party you went to, they had your favorite Christmas cookies that reminded you of how your Grandma’s kitchen smelled the entire month of December. And even though you kept telling yourself, I really shouldn’t eat this… you give in to temptation. And then, you felt guilty.
In this episode of Your Midlife Comeback Story, we’re going to answer the question… what separates the woman who is trying to eat better, but continues to do these mental gymnastics in her head, and then falls back into the same habits and the woman who effortlessly eats the foods that enables her to achieve sustainable weight loss?
The phenomenon that I’m about to share, I actually experienced back in 1999 when I lost 40 pounds, and I’ve been able to keep my weight within a 10 pound range of my ideal weight for the last 25 years, even though I’ve gone from being a competitive mountain bike racer to surviving breast cancer treatment and experiencing Hashimoto’s and hypothyroidism, a sluggish thyroid, and being knee deep in midlife and menopause. You’re probably going to be surprised at how simple this behavioral model is.
If you are interested in learning more about what’s been preventing you from achieving sustainable weight loss, along with why you keep falling back into the same habits, then keep listening, because this episode is for you. And at the end, you’re going to walk away with one very specific action step that you can take today, to start making your journey to better health more effortless and sustainable.

You might be eating weed killer for breakfast. If you or your kids eat one of these popular cereals for breakfast, you’re ingesting harmful amounts of glyphosate, which is also known as the popular weed killer, Roundup. Most people think that glyphosate is safe, because our government says so. But there’s $10 billion dollars worth of lawsuit payouts that say otherwise.
On today’s episode, we’re diving into glyphosate, why it’s so controversial, the hidden sources and danger, plus… I’m going to uncover the top 3 favorite household food brands and fast food restaurants with the highest levels of glyphosate, along with the recent uproar over one of the most popular health foods and why eating healthy, organic, or gluten free isn’t always the best solution.
If you are interested in learning more about the controversy behind glyphosate, along with the shocking statistics, plus how you can protect your midlife health, and decrease the cancer risk for your family, your kids, grandkids, and even your fur babies, then keep listening because this episode is for you.
Together, we will unpack:
This is your Chat GPT or AI tool prompt to write a letter to your community or school district about the dangers of glyphosate:
Create a letter that I can write to my local community or school district about the dangers of glyphosate, including studies that show the negative impact on our health. I want to inquire where they use Roundup, herbicides, and pesticides in my community. Include state laws about the use of glyphosate. I live in [INSERT STATE].

Do you wake up every day with a to-do list that gets results for everyone else... but taking care of yourself is NOT on the list?
Welcome to Your Midlife Comeback Story, the podcast for successful women in midlife to create their ultimate comeback by prioritizing their health so that their high-achievement lifestyle no longer clashes with unwanted weight gain, lack of energy, and restless nights.
I'm your host, Holly Bertone. I'm a former FBI Chief of Staff turned Certified Holistic Health Coach, and I help women in midlife find the clues to improve their health.
What I noticed is that while we're successful with our careers and families, those same action strategies don't work when it comes to sustainable habits for our health.
I learned this the hard way after being diagnosed with breast cancer and an autoimmune disease, and I knew there's more to life than burning the candle at both ends. I decided to take back control of what's most important in life, and I'm here to help you do the same.
Tune in every Friday for tactical action plans and inspirational stories so that you can create your midlife comeback story that is worthy of an 80's movie montage!

Do you enjoy the failures, the disappointments, and the difficult times? I’m guessing probably not. Most people don’t. Most people don’t wake up and say I can’t wait to be a failure today woo hoo! It doesn’t help that success is pushed so much that “They” say that failure is not an option. Let’s agree to disagree. I actually believe it’s THE BEST option. I believe that failure is THE BEST path to achieving success.
Today, we are going to answer the question… how does failure actually propel your success to even greater levels?
The answer is powerful, it involves the original Rocky movie… and I think it’s going to surprise you.

Should I introduce this episode by telling you that my guest was born premature and addicted to drugs? Should I introduce this episode by telling you that my guest annihilated stage 4 breast AND brain cancer to the point where she is called a radical remission miracle? I think I’ll just say… if you feel like your life needs a boost, and you want to uplevel the results you get in any area of your life, this is the episode for you.
My guest today is Christie Miller. Christie is a fun-loving, action-oriented mindset and business coach, motivational speaker, and author of The Playlist for Life.
Her career has spanned roles as a financial analyst, corporate attorney, interior designer, and even an LA County Sheriff. These diverse adventures were not just jobs, but stepping stones toward her real calling: coaching others to believe that anything is possible and helping them overcome their fears, so they can play to win in all areas of their lives.
Christie was born prematurely and addicted to drugs, and she was not expected to survive. Fast forward, she recently overcame Stage 4 breast and brain cancer. The word overcame is actually an understatement. It was complete annihilation. Christie was declared a "radical remission miracle" by Dr. Katie Deming, the Conscious Oncologist. Christie’s journey is a powerful testament to her invincible spirit and the life-changing mindset techniques she champions. Get ready to be inspired.

Have you ever found yourself thinking… can a day go by without someone bringing up the pandemic? It’s still a part of the fabric of our lives, whether we want it to be or not.
It was “the great reset” for us. But it also left us absolutely crippled as a society with a new epidemic with the increased mental health crisis. Increased anxiousness. Increased depression. Increased suicide. We lost our way on how to navigate back to homeostasis. On today’s episode, we are going to answer the question… how can we handle the fallout that’s still remaining from the pandemic when it comes to our mental health?

One of my biggest pet peeves with the health and wellness industry is that so often, the focus is ONLY on nutrition and exercise, when in reality, there are many other factors that combine to create our overall well being. The reality is that there is a very specific throughline that connects our business life with our personal life and health and that’s what today’s episode is all about.
My guest today is Heather Stewart.
Heather Stewart helps You BECOME Your Best Self.
She helps you balance your Body, Emotion, Community, Occupation, Money and Engagement Wellness so you can manifest your dream life into your reality.
Heather is the host of the Back to Me Podcast which was conceived while she lay for three days in the Emergency Room of the hospital after having two strokes. She decided then that she needed to help more people to be in a place where bumps in the road can be navigated and your life is set up to fully support you whatever happens.

We look at our health and our career or business and the common denominator that I hear over and over again is… just tell me what to do and I’ll do it. As women in our 40’s and 50’s, we have demanding schedules, it’s hard to find the bandwidth to have the space to think for ourselves when everyone and everything is screaming at us and we are running from one fire to another.
I’m here to tell you that the second you start to defy society’s norms is the second that you will start to have agency in your life and is the second that you will begin to start seeing success. This is true for your health and your business so let’s jump into 5 ways that you can get started.

I’m just going to say it. If you were ever curious about what I did at the FBI, or how on earth I went from being the Chief of Staff for the FBI’s Counterintelligence Program’s Program Management Office to becoming a holistic health coach, this is the story that you are going to get today. I’m sharing details of that part of my career that I never shared before – how young I was when I decided I wanted to work there, how I got there in the first place, some highlights of what I did… and even some of the dark side. And you get a little behind the scenes of that infamous 3-letter agency you either love or hate.
Before we jump in, I want to mention that this episode does have a very rare explicit rating because of one teeny tiny minor word but I don’t want to go to podcast jail and the rules are very nebulous... I use the word that begins with the letter A to describe your bum. Yes, this episode is brought to you by the letters F-B-I… and A. Here’s the thing too… I know that a lot of you listen in your car with your kids and I purposely keep my episodes clean for that very reason. But in this case... this word was the only way to describe the situation. And you’re going to know why very soon.

The concept of everything in moderation is a good concept in theory.
It’s just one piece of cake.
It’s a special occasion, enjoy some dessert.
But everything in moderation is the biggest lie ever. Yeah, we’re going to open up this can of worms on today’s episode. Because we say this phrase often and we say it convincingly. But have you ever given any thought to what it actually means and what are the consequences?
For the record – I’m not anti-moderation because at the end of the episode, we’re also going to explore the other side of the argument and look at this from a different perspective.
Today, we are going to answer the question… why is everything in moderation the biggest lie ever? And it might involve a salacious confession by yours truly about eating an entire sleeve of thin mints.

If I were to say that diets suck and they don’t work, I truly believe that 99.9% of you will agree with me. They do suck.
Why? Because when you go on a diet, you need to eat lots of salad a.k.a. rabbit food. Rabbit food sucks. You’re not full and you get hangry. You complain how much you hate this. And then the first obstacle that comes your way, you quit and it’s just becomes easier to go back to eating what you normally eat.
That pretty much sums it up. But have you ever wondered why they suck, and they don’t work? And have you ever asked yourself… if they do suck and they don’t work… why do I keep going back to these same diets over and over again?
On today’s episode, we are going to answer the question… what are the 5 reasons why this game is rigged against us, and what can you do instead to actually see results?

One thing is for certain is that the journey to improving your health is going to have lots of obstacles and things that will want to derail you. It’s easy to focus on and give our attention to what is screaming the loudest. But when you can keep your focus on the vision, not the view, you learn the agility to stay the course when the obstacles happen.
In this episode, we will answer the question… how can you stay on track with your health goals, especially when life gets life-ey and the obstacles are non-stop?
In today’s episode, you will walk away with understanding why it’s so important to coexist with stress, and how to create your game plan to be more agile when the setbacks happen and especially, when you don’t feel supported.

When it comes to improving your health, weight, energy, or sleep, have you ever said… just tell me what to do and I’ll do it? You are looking for the thing to do to get the result.
Or the other one that I hear is that you will tell me that you know exactly what you’re supposed to do.
Let’s break this down. If you know what you are supposed to do, why aren’t you doing it? And if you are doing the thing the expert tells you to do, why isn’t it working? And when you start, why is it such a struggle to stay committed to the plan?
In this episode, we will answer the question… why is it that goal-setting methods work for high achievers with their careers and families and most other areas of their lives, but these same methods don’t work when it comes to getting healthier?

When it comes to improving your health and wellness, well actually… pretty much anything in life… there’s one very specific thing that is going to catapult your success. This is the one thing that separates the woman who see results from the woman who doesn’t. It is also the one thing that most people either roll their eyes at, or dismiss, or run away from. It is designed to create the most resistance, because it’s the one thing that will guarantee progress and results.
In this episode, we will answer the question… what is the number one thing that separates those who see results with their health, from those who don't?
In today’s episode, you will walk away with understanding the power of personal responsibility as it relates to the challenges in our society to make healthy choices a part of your lifestyle.

If you are in your 40's or 50's give or take, I’m guessing you have tried it ALL when it comes to improving your health. As women with demanding schedules, we go a million miles an hour and we don't stop. Between our career and spouse and kids and even grandkids and aging parents and volunteer stuff and community stuff… we do not have any time for ourselves.
And then when it comes to things like... I want more energy or I want to get back into my old jeans or I just want to feel better about myself...
We look to the expert and we say, "Just tell me what I need to do to fix this." We are women who take action in all areas of our lives so we look for the magic bullet that is going to produce the result.
We are used to taking action. We are used to being successful. We’ve typically got a great career and or great family, and we have everything under control.
But why can’t we figure it out when it comes to our health?
Welcome to the brand new look and feel as the Gratitude Builds Fortitude Podcast is now called Your Comeback Story. Yes, the podcast had a little makeover, and I’m excited to begin your new journey with a 5 part series called Your Comeback Experience.

Do you get whiplash from all of the conflicting health and wellness information that’s out there? Eat this. Don’t eat that. This is good for you. No, it’s actually bad for you. Do you grab the bucket of popcorn watching the vegan and carnivore communities attack each other? Wait… popcorn… are we allowed to eat that these days?
What if… and play with me here… what if… we can shift that conversation from blame and shame to knowledge and empowerment?
If you want to get healthier, but you end up doing nothing because the information out there is so confusing… or you feel like it’s being governed by the morality police… then keep listening because this episode is for you.
Today, I’m going to answer the question… how can we move past the blame and shame and look at wellness from an individualized approach so that you can understand what is actually good for YOU?
The answer is powerful… it involves the most overlooked item at Pizza Hut… and I think it’s going to surprise you.

I think, especially as women, we grow up with this idea in our head of what our perfect life is supposed to look like. We have a successful career, we have a wonderful spouse and kids…
This is what you’ve always said was supposed to make you happy right? So let me ask you this… if this is what you’ve always dreamed about… are you really happy?
So often when we hear about a comeback story, we think about overcoming this big adversity. But here’s the thing. We are at a place in our lives right now, where that comeback… looks like coming back to a life that isn’t burning the candle at both ends. Coming back to a life where you don’t collapse in a heap of exhaustion at the end of the day. Coming back to a life where you find that happiness again and you get your joy and your sparkle back.
Today I am going to answer the question, how can you create your own comeback story?
The answer is powerful, it involves… an 80’s movie montage… And I think it’s going to surprise you.

If your mornings are full of chaos, which then creates a day full of chaos, this episode is for you.
What if… I told you that there was a way that you can take 6-10 minutes – the exact amount of time that you probably spend dreading getting out of bed… and stack your morning with proven, ancient traditions that not only give you a head start on your day, but will help you to create your miracle life.
On today’s episode, my guest, Hal Elrod, is going to answer the question… how can you create your Miracle Morning and Miracle Life? Even if you aren’t a morning person.
The answer is powerful, and I think it’s going to surprise you.
Together, we will unpack:
Hal Elrod is an international keynote speaker and the author of 12 books, most notably The Miracle Morning, which has sold over 3 million copies, and has recently been expanded by 70 additional pages and 2 additional chapters, including the Miracle Evening and the Miracle Life. His mission is to elevate the consciousness of humanity, one morning at a time, and he has certainly done that, not just with the millions of readers, but for me personally.
Hal’s list of adversities that he’s overcome in his life is a mile long, and we’ll get to that in the interview, but it’s not the adversities, it’s how he’s overcome them and turned them into perspectives and practices that are going to transform your life, like they did mine.
It’s my honor to share this special episode with you, where we are counting down to 100 episodes of the Gratitude Builds Fortitude Podcast with some of my favorite and most influential people in my life.

Welcome to Day 12 of the 12 Days of Gratitude! This year's theme is the Year of You.
Congratulations on making it to Day 12!
This is where our vision from days or weeks or months ago actually becomes our reality. It’s a big deal and it’s worth celebrating.
In addition to celebrating, this is when you look back and reflect on your journey. And do a little debrief.
It’s called a journey for a reason. The horizon doesn’t have a start or a finish. It’s the same with life. We hit our goals or we reach a new height and we celebrate.

Welcome to Day 10 of the 12 Days of Gratitude. This year's theme is the Year of You.
I have worked with clients with chronic health conditions and they all tell me that being sick is a full time job. They wake up every single day and their disease and their condition dictates the kind of day that they are going to have. And then we talk about making these changes to create a healthier lifestyle, and I want to be perfectly clear, I never talk about a cure, I only talk about creating better health.
That is why creating safety net routines are so important... and safety net routines that match your lifestyle and the goals that you want to achieve.

Welcome to Day 9 of the 12 Days of Gratitude! This year's theme is the Year of You.
Yesterday, we talked about protecting your body from harm. Today, we are going to create that shift into body acceptance.
This is another topic that we can talk about for days. The common lexicon of body acceptance is I can do whatever I want and eat whatever I want and have all of these unhealthy habits and I don’t care what you think about me, I am going to accept my body whatever it looks like.
The real power of gratitude happens when you can love and accept your body from a place of a lifestyle of appreciating how it keeps you healthy every day.

Welcome to Day 8 of the 12 Days of Gratitude! This year's theme is the Year of You.
We could talk about this for days. And this is definitely a student favorite in my 12week group coaching program. And here’s why.
We think that good health is the absence of disease. Let me say this differently. We think that if we do not have a disease, then we are healthy.
What they don’t teach us, anywhere, unless we look for it, is how a disease actually happens in the body.
WHAT IF... we were to flip this upside down and instead, create a lifestyle of healthy factors so that you can activate true health from within, and minimize the chance of getting a disease?

How much different advice is out there... wake up early, make your bed, do your gratitudes before you go to sleep.
Tim Ferris says, “If you win the morning, you win the day.”
Hal Elrod says, “How you start your day is the most important decision to transform your life.”
And then don’t forget about the evening routines.
What if you aren’t a morning person and you’re trying to be a morning person or what if you’re what if you aren’t an evening person and you’re trying to be an evening person?

You may or may not know this, but I accidentally started this podcast. Yes, it is possible to accidentally start a podcast. What had happened, I use theKajabi platform for everything in my business, and Kajabi introduced a podcast capability on its platform.
Well, I had been a blogger. I love to write, and obviously a lot has changed in the last year and a half, but at that moment in time, I absolutely hated to speak. And as an aside, I’m 100% convinced that not wanting to speak, and having Hashimoto’s are totally connected. New podcasts were popping up left and right. Everyone was starting a podcast. I would get asked if I was ever going to start a podcast and my answer was, over my cold, dead body.

Welcome to Day 4 of the 12 Days of Gratitude! This year's theme is the Year of You.
When I onboard a new client, we always have a conversation about what they want to accomplish in our time together. It’s important to be mindful of those goals. But what happens, 100% of the time, is that we always take a detour to get there. And you want to know why this happens?
It’s because at the end of the day, those goals are extremely important, but if we keep swimming up the river, past those goals, we get to something better. We get to the core. I can’t tell my clients that this is what they REALLY want. In order for this to work, they have to find it out and figure it out themselves.

Welcome to Day 3 of the 12 days of Gratitude! This year's theme is the Year of You.
Yesterday, I talked about recognizing old patterns and beliefs. These patterns only become a problem if you view them from a place of shame or blame. Which they are not. These are normal human patterns that we all experience.
In order to move past the blame and shame, and to begin creating the Year of You, your next step is to accept your past, and accept your past from a place of how it made you who you are. The best way to do this is from aplace of curiosity and wonder.

Welcome to Day 2 of the 12 days of Gratitude! This year's topic is the Year of You.
We fall into the same patterns and beliefs over and over again. It’s human nature. Our actions are based on our identity, thoughts, beliefs, and patterns. The science is mixed, but let’s go with the common narrative that we have between 50-80 thousand thoughts a day, and 80-90 percent of them are negative, and 80-90 percent of them are the same thoughts from the day before. No wonder we keep getting stuck in the same rut and the same patterns over and over again.
These patterns and beliefs run the show. That is why... when we try to make the changes that we want to make that we get excited for a short time, but then we go right back into doing things the same... we get excited, we learn all of the things that we need to learn. But there’s a huge disconnect between knowing them and implementing them, and actually embodying them.

When we go through something, whether it’s an adverse event, challenging situation, trauma that we’ve experienced, or even if it’s just the accumulation of everything piling on top of each other...one thing is universal and that is there is a natural phase where we get angry. We become angry at ourselves, angry at others, and even angry at God, and then, we feel like the world is against us. It’s a very natural response. It’s not anything to be ashamed of.
But what happens, and we don’t even realize it, is that the anger brings it’s besties, anxiety, fear, resentment, and we marinate in all of these colorful emotions a little longer than we need to. And then, it has collateral damage...our self esteem and self worth take a hit, and we lose our confidence and our sparkle. We lose what makes us... us.

If you feel like achieving success is always just out of reach, then this episode is for you. This is Part 2 of a 2-part series, where you are going to get your very own blueprint on the steps that you need to take to ACTUALLY achieve your goals in 2024.
If you are ready to shout from the rooftops that 2024 is going to be YOUR year, then this episode and last week’s episode, which was on goal setting, are going to be the two most important episodes you need to listen to. Because there is a very specific reason why 92% of all New Years resolutions fail. And it has nothing to do with goal setting or vision boards or manifesting.

Which one of three camps do you fall into when it comes to the holidays? Are you Buddy the Elf and you are full on holiday spirit and want to do it all… or maybe… you enjoy the holidays for the most part, but you feel obligated and say yes to everything, you take on too much, or… you simply can’t stand the holiday season because everyone around you is jingle belling and all you want to do is crawl back into bed and get the next few weeks over with.
Regardless of which one you identify with, the common theme here is that the holiday season is overwhelming, it’s stressful, and it’s exhausting.
Today, we are going to answer the question… how can you get through the holiday season with less stress, so that you can celebrate more? And spoiler alert – being grateful is NOT on today’s list. WHAT?!?

There’s one of those quotes out there that says, “Accidentally spent my entire life making sure everyone around me was comfortable, only to realize I never felt comfortable the entire time.”
Oh, did you feel that? When I saw it, I did, and I thought of you. Because so many of us are people pleasers. We go out of our way for others, only to realize that it is at the expense of our own happiness.
If you felt that quote, if you are a people pleaser, or always putting other's needs first before your own, then this episode is for you. Today, we are going to answer the question… how do you know if you are a people pleaser, and what is the difference between being a people pleaser and just being nice to others?
The answer is powerful, it involves pancakes at IHOP… and I think it’s going to surprise you.

When we are going through a difficult time, why is it that all of the difficult stuff seems to hijack our lives? That everywhere we turn, it’s one more thing that goes wrong, it’s one more thing we have to deal with and one more thing that creates frustration, and one more thing that gets us angry or put us into fear? It dominates our mind, even before we open our eyes in the morning and every single thought throughout the day.
You feel like you are in a dark tunnel and there is no light. No way out. And when you do see a light, it’s the train coming right for you. We feel the weight of the world on our shoulders.

If you have ever experienced medical gaslighting, then listen up.
On today’s episode, my guest is going to answer the question… how can you find your voice to advocate for yourself, when the doctors continually dismiss you? And especially, when your life is in jeopardy.
Linda Sidhu not only lost her physical voice due to the aftermath of thyroid cancer, she had to learn how to navigate being gaslighted by her doctors to literally save her own life. Linda has been a dear friend and business colleague of mine for several years. I’ve been following her journey with thyroid cancer, and when she shared publicly what happened to her, I knew right away that you need to hear her story. She is one of the most sweetest and giving people I know, but don’t let her big smile fool you, this woman is tough as nails and she fully embodies the gratitude builds fortitude ethos.
On the business side of the house, Linda is a list-building expert who helps coaches and course creators create irresistible personality quizzes that attract hundreds of new subscribers on autopilot. Including mine! If you have taken my gratitude personality quiz, Linda helped me to create it.
As a former top ten pharmaceutical sales representative, Linda had extensive training in personality types. She took the same methods that worked for selling products face-to-face and turned them into a personality quiz framework that converts views to leads at 70% and helps craft personalized marketing for her customers.
She’s been featured in the media in Forbes as well as on Cubicle to CEO, The Go-To Gal Podcast, and The Art of Online Business with Rick Mulready.

Do you struggle with being inconsistent with your gratitude list? Or maybe you understand the list-making practice, but it just doesn't align with how you want your gratitude practice to be.
This episode is short and sweet and will be incredibly compelling for you if you feel stuck on the treadmill of life, like the hamster on the wheel… doing all of the work but spinning without any progress.
And I'm willing to bet if you've had some type of health challenge for over 6 months that you feel your progress has been back and forth and up and down. Maybe you need more time to think through or weigh all of the pros and cons. And perhaps you feel you don't want to decide because of all the what-ifs on the other side.

That list of 3 things you are grateful for is NOT the best way to get started with gratitude.
In fact, those lists are failing us.
Have you noticed there’s a big difference between knowing about gratitude and actually living it?
And why are there so many books and podcasts and youtube videos and all of the things GRATITUDE…
Why is it that they all tell you to do the same thing:
Make a list of 3 things you are grateful for.
Let me ask you something. Why is it that when you make your gratitude lists or say your affirmations, it feels good in the moment, but it doesn’t stick in the long run?
Why isn’t it working?

Change.
It's what happens that single moment when you are sitting in the doctor's office and those words are spoken with an official diagnosis... YOU HAVE...
It's what happens when you completely lose the woman you used to know and become a shell of your former self.
As women with cancer or autoimmune disease or other health challenges...
This change becomes WHO WE ARE.
How much better would your world be if...
You stopped letting everyone else control what you're supposed to do and how you are supposed to feel...
And you start living in that place of being unapologetically you again?
That is what I stand for.
My mission is to give you, the Grateful Warrior, the gift you've had all along. To help you unwrap resilience. And stand in fortitude and strength in the midst of the storm.
And we will do it by disrupting the old ways that keep people trapped in a broken body.
And we will thrive because of it.
If that's you, then get ready.

Does it seem like every time you make progress with gratitude and gain some positivity in your life, something negative happens, and then it’s one step forward, two steps back? Or even though you try your best to be grateful, the negative moods and actions of others seem to bring you down?
I hear this so often in my community and is the #1 reason why individuals with some type of chronic illness – cancer, autoimmune, or other health challenges – love the concept of gratitude, but struggle to get it to stick.
Let me ask you something…
Your health journey, in general, isn’t linear, is it? When you are working on improving your nutrition, getting better sleep, moving more, doing all the things… do you see constant improvement every single day without any kind of dip? No. In fact, even if your health is steadily getting better over time, you are still going to experience those peaks and valleys along the way.
So why should your journey with gratitude be any different?
In this video, I break down an overview of your success path to gratitude. And we’ll be diving into each of these levels in more detail over time.

Gratitude is failing people with health challenges for a reason.
Because practicing gratitude IS NOT the best way to get started with gratitude.
❌ Saying thank you.
❌ Making lists.
❌ Saying affirmations.
Don’t get me wrong. These are all great. But if simply doing that worked, then why do 75% of people with some type of chronic illness say that they love the concept of gratitude but they can never get it to stick?
🤷♀️ Why is that?
It’s because cutting back is the best way to grow.
In Episode 3 of the Grateful Warrior Podcast, I break down how to start growing a gratitude practice that will FINALLY stick… without the lists or affirmations.
