This podcast is produced, recorded and written by the boys in Sacred Heart, Ballygall. It delves into the wonders in our community through interviews with the people who call it home and by getting out onto the streets recording the hidden gems that are right under our noses.
In today's episode we have a feature interview with Frank Gray, club legend in Na Fianna and local resident, who tells us of his time growing up in Drumcondra, his move to the green fields around Glasnevin Park and the earliest days of Na Fianna. It's a really great interview with his grandson Conall.
We also bid farewell to the makers of this podcast today. The wonderful voices you have been listening to are graduating tonight from the school. They have been incredible all year for me and have embraced this project from September. We wish them well in secondary school and in their futures.
In today's episode, Cian, Bradley, Aaron, Dean, Conall and Jack get to grips with how the Normans shaped our area. Mottes and Baileys in plain site if you know where to look. Today, also, we have two shorter feature interviews! In the first Jack chats with his grandad James about life in the Wadelai area growing up as a boy. In the second interview we hear how Inge, Cian's grandmother, has enjoyed her 60 years in the area and how it has changed.
As always the interviews are scripted, researched and recorded by the boys. They are fast approaching graduation, but we hope to have a few more episodes ready for release over the weeks to come.
We are holding a Housetry open-night in the school hall this Wednesday, June 22nd, at 7pm if you fancy meeting the boys and seeing the info they have discovered. There will be tea and coffee and we'd love for the community to share their stories with us also.

In this episode Callum, Lochlánn, Sam, Cian, Jamie, Chris, Harry and Callum tell the story of the next body of people to shape the area of Ballygall, The Vikings. We hear of the Bloody Acre, the Viking Lady of Finglas and more besides!
Our feature interview sees Jack interview his grandad, Billy McMahon, about his 60 years living in our locality. From being there to oversee the building of the house, to his voluntary work in the community, he has seen the area grow and change over the years and is in a perfect position to tell us all about that.

In this episode, Cian, Callum, Charlie, Michael, Jack, Kyle, Isaac, Conor and Jake look at the biggest thing to shape our area - the building of the monasteries in Glasnevin and Finglas. We hear what life was like then and the amazing story of The Nethercross, still standing like a beacon in St. Canice's Graveyard in Finglas.
Our feature interviewee this week is the wonderful Catherine Delaney, who tells of her life growing up in Watling St., near St. James's Gate, in a tenement house, her subsequent move to Ballyfermot and her 54 years as a resident of Ballymun. It's a really engaging interview conducted by her grandson, Isaac.
In this episode, the boys used various resources on Finglas and the area all available online and in the library. One excellent resource used here is a book on the History of Glasnevin, by Tony O'Doherty, which is an excellent production seeking to shine a light on the area.

In this, the first ever, episode of the Housetry Podcast, Jamie, Josh, Daniel and Darragh have researched some really interesting information on the earliest people we think may have lived in Ballygall.
In our feature interview, Daniel chats with his grandfather, Mr. Tom Dunne, who tells us about his life in the Albert College Park area, his work in the Ballymun community and his part in getting DCU set up.
