In this compelling podcast, I had the privilege of interviewing Brother Emmanuel Justus, also known as Mr. Tun Up, whose passion for Hot Sauce led him on a remarkable journey. Around February/March of 2019, Emmanuel embarked on the endeavor of creating his own Hot Sauce. This endeavor was particularly challenging because his wife wasn't fond of spicy foods, necessitating a solution that would satisfy both of their preferences.
Emmanuel always aspired to be an entrepreneur, but he wasn't sure of the specific path he should take. For him, being an entrepreneur was not just about selling a product or service; it required a genuine love for what he did, something he could envision doing until his retirement. His strong faith in God is evident in his desire to prioritize God above all else and to share his love and devotion for Jesus. As a manifestation of this devotion, he launched a clothing line called TYL, which stands for "Thank You Lord." This line of apparel is designed for both Believers and Non-Believers, allowing them to express gratitude to the Lord through the act of wearing the clothing itself.

Their efforts have raised thousands of dollars for organizations such as local food banks and hospitals.

Kalyssa is a vocalist and songwriter, born on March 28th, 1980 in downtown Toronto, Canada. From a young child, Kalyssa always had an interest in the arts and it all began with her love of dancing (ballet, tap, acro & jazz), and competing frequently throughout her young childhood years. Dancing was a place where she could escape even if for just a few moments at a time. Kalyssa’s childhood was bittersweet, and what no one knew was that she was struggling internally and fighting demons no child should ever have to fight, especially on their own. As she continued to grow, she learned how to cope and went into survival mode. In her adolescent years, she began writing poetry here and there but never thought anything of it at the time. Writing became more of another outlet and escape for her mind when she felt suffocated and would go through bouts of depression quite often. What she didn’t know was that years later she would be creating music and writing through her depression, and rather than fighting through these dark moments she would learn to embrace them. In 2011 Kalyssa found herself working in a high-stress job and during her lunch hour breaks she would sit at a park bench and began writing more frequently, and that was the turning point when she began to pursue music. It was then that she literally stumbled upon her producer Nyasha Makambria and from there recorded her first song “Imagine Us”. As time went on, she continued to write, record, and make beautiful music. Not to mention, there was one thing in particular that Kalyssa noticed about herself when she would record and that was the feeling it gave her. It was a similar feeling she had experienced when she was a child dancing her heart out on stage. Creating music became her new escape!

Kalman was raised in a nonobservant Jewish home in Vancouver, Canada where he attended Sir Winston Churchill High School. Upon his graduation in 1969 he was given academic and basketball scholarships to the University of British Columbia. After his first year studying philosophy he travelled Europe with plans to undergo coursework in France. However his mother requested that he stop in Israel to visit relatives. Enamored with Jewish culture and heritage, he cancelled the trip to France and enrolled in several Yeshivot, and in 1977 he received his rabbinical ordination. In 1973 Samuels married Malki Klein and the couple took up residence in Jerusalem. In 1977, their second son, Yossi Samuels, at the time 11 months old, was injured by a faulty DPT vaccination and was rendered blind, deaf and acutely hyperactive. After 7 years with no communication, Yossi’s special education teacher, Shoshana Weinstock achieved a break through by relaying sign language into the palm of his hand, teaching Yossi his first word, ‘Shulchan’ (Hebrew, שֻׁולְחָן), meaning table. Founding and expansion of Shalva Due to their experiences raising Yossi, Malki and Kalman established an afternoon playgroup for children with special needs. Over time, the program expanded to meet the needs of a broader spectrum of special needs, from birth through adulthood. Today Shalva provides therapy, education, and recreation to hundreds of beneficiaries as well as family support, respite and advocacy initiatives. In recognition of Shalva’s accomplishments and an ongoing need to expand the availability of special needs services, the Jerusalem Municipality provided Samuels a seven acre plot adjacent to the planned Route 16 highway and the Shaarei Tzedek Medical Center in the Beit HaKerem neighborhood of Jerusalem. The new Shalva National Center enables Shalva to provide a broader range of services to an expanded population of beneficiaries.

Edward started fundraising in 2018 with a small neighbourhood lemonade stand to raise money for Sick Kids and Milton Hospital to earn a Beaver Scout Badge (the North Star Badge) for helping the community. That badge is the top award for Beavers. Of course, his brother Ethan helped, and friends Nicholas and Nathan wanted to help too. Ethan started his big fundraiser to earn his North Star Badge 2 years later, choosing McMaster Children's Hospital so he could help other kids having chemo treatments, like himself, and Camp Ooch/Trillium, a camp for kids with cancer.

Just after high school, Victoria enrolled at Seneca College in Toronto to study fashion design. After some time in the program, she felt it wasn’t for her anymore. Her parents suggested tattooing and a profession. She liked the idea and realized this would be a great way to showcase her artistic ability.
