Cuban Timba presents: Peligroso Ladrón by Alain Pérez.
Today I present to you track number 9 belonging to the ADN album of master Alain Pérez. Composer, arranger, music producer, bassist, guitarist, percussionist, father, friend son, endowed with an immeasurable human quality.
Alain is one of those people who has resized the concept of timba in Cuba including elements of funk, rumba and blues in his productions, bringing the folk and blues sound of the electric guitar to our latitude in a creative way, thus achieving an explosive mix between Cuban music and American blues.
I invite you to immerse yourself in this fascinating Cuban genre.
In the recording I used a reissue 60's Fender Stratocaster made in 2012, with a Yamaha THR 10 amplifier, and an SM57 microphone.

Hoy les presento el track número 9 perteneciente al disco ADN del maestro Alain Pérez. Compositor, arreglista, productor musical, bajista, guitarrista, percusionista, padre, hijo amigo, dotado de una calidad humana inconmensurable.
Alain es una de esas personas que ha redimensionado el concepto de la timba en Cuba incluyendo elementos de funk, rumba y blues en sus producciones, llevando el sonido folk y blues de la guitarra eléctrica ha nuestra latitud de manera creativa, logrando así un mezcla explosiva entre música cubana y blues americano.
Los invito a sumergirse en este fascinante género cubano.
En la grabación usé una Fender Stratocaster reedición 60´s fabricada en el 2012, con un amplificador Yamaha THR 10, y un micrófono SM57.

Autumn in New York by Vernon Duke
Nunca he pasado un otoño en New York, confieso que me encantaría, pero hasta ahora solo tengo este espectacular jazz-standard compuesto por Vernon Duke un americano nacido en Rusia el cual sus obras han sido versionadas por cientos de artistas, tanto instrumentistas como cantantes, desde Charlie Parker hasta Diana Krall.
En cada nota que toqué dejé un pedazo de mi alma, no pude hacer más, son de esos temas que exigen aliento de vida.

I have never spent an autumn in New York, I confess that I would love to, but so far I only have this spectacular jazz-standard composed by Vernon Duke, an American born in Russia whose works have been covered by hundreds of artists, both instrumentalists and singers, from Charlie Parker to Diana Krall.
In each note I played I left a piece of my soul, I couldn't do more, they are one of those songs that demand a breath of life.

Mi nombre es Ernesto Robles, soy guitarrista cubano. Hoy les comparto un video que grabe hace unas semanas.
Recuerdo que sucedió de manera fortuita en una de esas sesiones de estudio que suelo hacer con mi profesor Rey Ugarte, quien me acompaña en el video, un gigante de la guitarra cubana conocido por su amplia trayectoria musical dentro y fuera de la Isla.
Inspirado por la versión de Nelson Farías y Pedro Martins, le dije a Rey que por favor tocásemos un par de coros de ese ciclo armónico el cual me parecía muy interesante sobre todo por su modulación en la parte C.
Mientras tocábamos se formó una atmósfera súper interactiva y hasta paternal diría yo. Nos mirábamos y sabíamos de antemano que iba a suceder, constantemente nos leíamos la mente, fue un viaje a otro mundo, fue una danza perfecta entre los dos. Al terminar, casi telepática-mente nos dijimos el uno al otro, tenemos que grabar esto …. y nos echamos a reír.
Les comento que esta es la primera vez que grabo una pieza con Rey, me honra el hecho de tocar a su lado poniendo en práctica todo lo que me ha enseñado.
Ojalá que capten toda la energía que hay en él.

My name is Ernesto Robles and I am a Cuban guitar player. Today I want to share with you a video that I recorded a few weeks ago.
I remember that it happened by chance in one of those study sessions that I usually do with my teacher Rey Ugarte, who accompanies me in the video, a giant of Cuban guitar known for his extensive musical career on and off the island.
Inspired by the version by Nelson Farías and Pedro Martins, I told Rey to please play a couple of choruses from that harmonic cycle, which I found very interesting, especially because of its modulation in part C.
While we were playing, a super interactive and even paternal atmosphere was formed, I would say. We looked at each other and we knew in advance what was going to happen, we constantly read each other's minds, it was a trip to another world, it was a perfect dance between the two of us. At the end, almost telepathically we said to each other, we have to record this…. and we burst out laughing.
I tell you that this is the first time that I have recorded a piece with Rey, I am honored to play alongside him, putting into practice everything he has taught me.
I hope you capture all the energy that is in it.

Hola hivers, aquí les regalo el tercer viaje del alma. Intuyo que muchos se preguntarán que son en sí estas pequeñas historias sonoras, pues les cuento que son esas fugaces elucubraciones que a menudo e inconscientemente inundan a nuestro cerebro. Confieso que me sucede con mucha frecuencia sin preferencia alguna de horario, puede que en un momento esté inmerso en determinada tarea y de repente, llegan, me abrazan, más no me anulan, me traen el dinamismo de la vida, como cuando a un agua tranquila se le arroja una piedra.
Llevarlo al lenguaje musical es una habilidad aún carente de pericia ya que no soy capaz de asir todo el material temático que poseen, pero las reminiscencias que me dejan me bastan para concebir una impresión coherente sincera y espontánea.
Sean todos partícipes de los múltiples movimientos que lo originaron y de la vida interior que estos poseen.
Hello hivers, here I give you the third journey of the soul. I sense that many will wonder what these little sound stories are, because I tell them that they are those fleeting thoughts that often and unconsciously flood our brain. I confess that it happens to me very frequently without any preference of schedule, it may be that at one moment I am immersed in a certain task and suddenly, they arrive, they hug me, but they do not annul me, they bring me the dynamism of life, as when Calmly, a stone is thrown at him.
Translating it into musical language is a skill that still lacks expertise since I am not able to grasp all the thematic material they possess, but the reminiscences they leave behind are enough for me to conceive a sincere and spontaneous coherent impression.
Be all participants in the multiple movements that originated it and in the inner life that they possess.
