The moment that shaped Angel Force Protection began outside the gates of my own children's school. I watched as a stranger approached the campus, unchecked and unchallenged. There was nothing resembling protection - no watchful eyes, no sense of readiness. This experience was a turning point. Years of military service had instilled in me the importance of preparation, vigilance, and community responsibility. I realized that hope alone was not enough for our children. The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride unites classic and vintage styled motorcycle riders from all over the world to raise funds and awareness for prostate cancer research and men’s mental health.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride was founded in Sydney, Australia, by Mark Hawwa. It was inspired by a photo of TV Show Mad Men’s Don Draper astride a classic motorcycle and wearing his finest suit. Mark decided a themed ride would be a great way of connecting niche motorcycle enthusiasts and communities while raising funds to support the men in our lives.

Bobby Wagner is the current Mayor of Destin, Florida. He is often referred to as the "Millennial Mayor" and became one of the youngest mayors in Florida's history (and the youngest for Destin) when elected in November 2022 at age 28.
Bobby Wagner has deep roots in Destin, having moved there and attended Destin Middle School starting in 6th grade (around age 12). Originally born in New York, he has called Destin home ever since and has a strong love for the area's waters (he's often seen in a wetsuit and enjoys the ocean lifestyle).
His early passion was music—he played the trumpet, which earned him a scholarship to Troy University. After college, he returned to Destin and founded his own video production company, Land Air Sea Productions, at age 21. He has run the business for over a decade.
Wagner is also deeply involved in community and environmental efforts. He serves as the executive director (and former board member) of Trees on the Coast, an environmental nonprofit focused on tree planting and sustainability. He follows a "givers-gain" philosophy, emphasizing giving back to the community and environment for mutual benefit.
His political journey began when he attended city council meetings to advocate for initiatives like planting trees along roadways. In November 2021, he was appointed to the Destin City Council to fill a vacancy. Just a year later, he ran for and won the mayoral election, defeating opponent Rodney Braden with about 60% of the vote. He has focused on revitalizing the community, sustainable initiatives, beautification efforts, projects like a new town center on Main Street, harbor improvements, and infrastructure like fiber optic internet and Little League field overhauls.
As of 2026 (with his term ongoing), he continues to serve as mayor, hosting events like fireside chats to engage residents directly on city improvements.

After working in health care and living all over the United States and Europe as a military wife for 20 years, I decided to move back home to North Florida and open a cake bakery in Panama City. It was time to put roots down for my two young daughters and be close to family again. As a local owner and entrepreneur, I wanted to bring a brand with national recognition and appreciation to Bay County. In February 2023, I opened the Nothing Bundt Cakes located in the Hobby Lobby shopping center at Highway 77 and 23rd Street.
At Nothing Bundt Cakes, we handcraft Bundt cakes in our local bakery using real ingredients like butter, eggs, and cream cheese. We offer a variety of delicious flavors, such as red velvet, chocolate chocolate chip, and lemon, to name a few. Each cake can be topped with unique cake decorations for an extra special treat. With a wide selection of retail items, including party supplies, décor, and gifts, our bakery is the perfect one-stop celebration shop.
The core values of the Nothing Bundt Cakes brand are a servant’s heart and the spirit of a champion. We live these core values in our local bakery every day by giving back to our community. We offer fundraising opportunities to local schools, athletic teams, and organizations to help them meet their financial needs. We also partner with organizations, such as the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bay County and Florida Hands & Voices, to give a percentage of our sales back to the community.
Owning a new business has been an adventure, but one that I have loved. I am making sweet new memories with my daughters, and being home again in North Florida has been the frosting on the cake.

So pelmeni and pierogi dumplings are They originated out of Russia and Poland kind of Eastern European and they kind of made their way over to Alaska We're called Slater's Alaskan Dumplings and the Alaskan is the style that came from Alaska which is butter signature sauce which is sriracha and rice vinegar mix Sounds really weird but put together it's really good because I don't like either 2 of those things but I can eat hundreds of these dumplings every day You've got our special curry blend You've got cilantro and sour cream to dip it in You get a slice of rye bread to soak up all the juices and eat it afterwards

Making a Splash
My real sports love affair started when a pool was built in my hometown, and I became a swimmer. My love for the water and sporting competition has not gone away since then, as I compete in Masters Swimming. I did “retire” from skateboarding in my 40s after I taught my kids how to do it – (and purposely never teaching them a handstand going downhill, like I had done when I was their age!) However, I still rock my skis on the slopes to this day.

SADCo. started as a dream, not a real lofty one, but one of those that you can't really get out of your head. SADCo. was going to be a place that was truly different, not your normal restaurant, because it was a reflection of a not so normal place, Alaska.
Alaska is up there in the "Great White North" on its own. Nothing is surrounding it (But Canada), so it doesn't really take its cues from anyone, it's its own animal. That is sort of what SADCo. is, it's its own animal.
We serve one thing, pel'meni. No we don't have another menu lying around somewhere, we just have dumplings, and we are pretty proud of that. We sell only one dish, because we know what we know and we don't pretend to know much else. People often ask me what kind of music I write and sing, and it’s always a tough one to answer. Listeners and industries love their labels, but music—just like people—doesn’t fit into neat little boxes.
I’m a son of the South, and my music reflects the experience of growing up with longleaf pines overhead and red clay beneath my feet. Like many, I found my passion for music in church, starting out by beating ferociously on the drums. As a teenager, I picked up my first guitar in earnest, with the guidance of my grandfather—who would later be inducted into the Georgia Country Music Hall of Fame.
Over the years, life happened, and music took a back seat. I became a Marine, served downrange, worked as a paramedic, became a teacher, and built a family. There were moments I thought those experiences had pulled me away from music for good. Turns out, they were just fueling a deep well of untapped lyrics and melodies, quietly waiting beneath the surface.
And now, here I am—traveling, sharing that music, and on the cusp of releasing my first album, set to drop in the winter of ’24–’25. It’s a collection shaped by the South and my take on the world. The meaning behind the music? That’s for you to discover. It’s my art, but it’s yours to consume, interpret, connect with, and weave into your own stories.

This year in the United States, more than 15,000 families will hear the unbelievable news that their child has been diagnosed with cancer. As they make their way through treatment, they will face a thousand battles aside from the one happening with their kid’s cellular biology. Moms and dads might seldom see one another save for passing in the hospital parking lot. Mounting medical costs can be overwhelming on their own, and even more so, with one of the parents quitting their job to manage the care. Siblings might feel a loneliness from an understandable lack of attention. Friends and neighbors will want to help, but they won’t really know how.
Because of these realities and so many more, the family unit bears unimaginable weight and is exposed to profound risk. And that’s just not going to work for us.

Adam -- I started as a really shy kid. I would not, I was not able to talk to anybody at all. Yeah. Like even now I'm not like the best communicator, but. I'm just not afraid to make mistakes. When I talk, I'm not afraid to just go up to people, even if I get rejected, it's not like, it's not something that I'm worried about anymore because I know how much opportunities you could get just by talking to people and the connections that you can make, but how it started was like, do you want to know how I started doing videos or how I started?
Like all of it. Yeah. Cause I'm really very interested in this. Okay, so I grew up in, um, so I was born in America, but I was, but I grew up in, um, I was born in America, and then I went to Egypt for eight years, and then I was, I lived there just to learn the culture, the Arabic language, just to see my family, because all my family's in Egypt.
I only live with my, like, my dad and my mom. And my siblings, my sisters that live here with me, but I have a big family, it's all in Egypt. So I just went to Egypt for eight years to learn Arabic and go to school for a little bit and meet my family. And then I've been living here ever since I was eight years old.
When I first came, because I didn't know any English, I only spoke Arabic. So I had a really hard time connecting with people. I was a really shy kid. Um, I remember things like being too scared to even raise my hands to say I want to use the bathroom in school that I would pee myself, like it was such embarrassing stories that crazy stuff that happened.
I would get bullied because I didn't know how to speak English, just things like that. I was a really shy kid. I was, I had a lot of trouble making friends. I remember another time where. Um, I would, I was like maybe nine years old and there would be kids playing in the playground like during break and lunch and they would just be playing around.

Originally from Los Angeles, Nathan relocated to Nashville when he was 11 years old and endured a major culture shock. Embracing the transition between cities through painting graffiti and exploring new territories through skateboarding travels, motivated Nathan artistically.
In the late 90’s he drew inspiration from these passions, using color and form to play with perspective. Positioned at the intersection of abstractionism and street art, Nathan has transitioned this style into the studio and on multi story buildings across the U.S. and Europe.
Prior to mural work, Nathan had an extensive career in experiential marketing, promoting and producing concerts / festivals and events for
Live Nation, Golden Voice (Coachella), AEG Presents and Disney, in which he marketed & promoted over 5000 shows over the course of 15 years.
Nathan has created over 150 large scale commissioned murals for both communities around the country and also for brands such as Red Bull, Wrangler, Patagonia, Top Golf, WeWork, Google, Spotify, to name a few, the goal has always been the same since day one, to bring people, places and communities together through public art, transforming and creating new spaces where there were none before.

Christie Matthews, an award-winner disc jockey at the Jonesboro Radio Group and a Make-A-Wish ambassador, was at her daughter’s wedding when she turned to speak to a guest, and her hip popped out of the socket.
That’s when she realized something wasn’t right. After months of trying to figure out what was wrong, she got a call from her doctor. She had a tumor on her hip. It was multiple myeloma.
She was diagnosed on New Year’s Eve of 2020 and started treatment in 2021. Even after getting answers to the cause of her pain, she was still shocked.
“I just thought I’d had a bad hip and needed hip replacement,” Matthews said. “I look back, and I can’t really remember a lot of it because I was just on autopilot. It’s devastating.”
Nick Tingquist, a thoracic surgeon at UAMS, said one of the best forms of prevention is early detection. That can start with regular visits to a primary care physician. He said they’re trained to find and prevent diseases early on.
Tingquist said there are also some suggested tests and procedures for certain patients.
“Getting a yearly colonoscopy at age 45, or if you have a history of smoking, some people are eligible to be screened,” Tingquist said.
As for some of the early signs of cancer, it will vary depending on the type and the person. The symptoms may be difficult for patients to understand.
“It may be something you get used to over a period of time. I think it’s important to recognize what’s abnormal,” Tingquist added.
Some of those abnormal symptoms could be unexpected weight loss, pains in certain parts of the body, changes in stool, and discoloration of the skin.
Matthews’ advice to everyone is to be your own advocate. If you think something is wrong, don’t dismiss it.

Jared Herzog is a singer-songwriter originally from the beautiful panhandle of Florida. Growing up on gospel and worship music, Jared became influenced by the smooth, emotional melodies and joined the choral and ensemble groups in his school and church. In these groups, he competed in the highest levels of state and carried his pursuit of music into his studies at Lee University.
Jared began his professional music career by gigging full time in the 30A (panhandle of Florida) area when Covid put a halt to his career in Nashville. It was in Florida that he met industry-leading producers, musicians, and managers, who prompted him to move back to Nashville. After spending some time in the music city, Jared realized just how unique of an area 30A Florida truly is, as it offers a place where he could make a much bigger name for himself while connecting with all the same executives from the Nashville area. Mr. Berry started his career in New York radio at WBLS (FM) under the leadership of mentor and friend Frankie Crocker and after spending 5 years in radio in the Bay Area, he moved to Los Angeles for a position in the Walt Disney Studios Feature Film Financing Division.
Mr. Berry went on to write and direct music videos for artists such as Chaka Khan and Dionne Warwick, to name a few. Mr. Berry also directed the PRAME Awards (Blacks in Advertising). Mr. Berry then used his music talent to write songs for Pop/R&B Diva Chaka Khan, Jazz vocalist Mary Stallings, Prince/Rosie Gaines, and Jazz Legend Nancy Wilson (2006 Grammy Award Winning CD “Turned to Blue”). In between his music endeavors, he worked in television as an Executive Producer/Director and sometimes hosts for various shows such as BET’s NY/LA Entertainment magazine, All The People (Fox-Bay Area Talk Show), Shaq Jam (Hip Hop concert, Direct TV/Fox), Remixed (BET) and the Fox entertainment show Poker Dome.
Mr. Berry moved on to direct independent films and documentaries such as A Different Shade of Love, My Father’s Music…Jazz (Documentary PBS/Cable) and The Black Line… (A Profile of the Black Male. Parts 1, 2 and 3). He is currently working on several film and TV projects for Urban Winter Entertainment with business partner Mark Cohen. Mr. Berry is also the founder of the D. It's gonna be an exciting time here with Lux Life Discovered.
In August, we're gonna feature some gentlemen from Memphis who are, one is a broadcaster, one is a custom bow tie maker and does some amazing work, so it's gonna be fun to showcase their, their skills. We also have a film director and a songwriter. He is, has so many talents, it's gonna be fun to, to visit with him, to learn more about what all he is doing. And then in October, Or, I'm sorry, September. We have to get September 1st.
September we're gonna focus on some of my contacts in Arkansas. I'm fortunate that within the event planning industry as well as the wedding industry to have so many different talented people that we can showcase. So we will have probably a, a videographer on board that does amazing work and not just.
Locally, but nationally. And then we'll also have a, uh, cake decorator who has been on Home Net or the Food Network and has won so many first place awards because her cakes are like masterpieces. And I'm talking each cake for every wedding that I've done. And I've used her. In fact, she's my preferred vendor for Northeast, Northwest Arkansas.
So it's gonna be fun to talk with her, to get her take. And there's some little secrets that I know about her work that I can't share with you, so I'll let her share those with you. And it's just amazing what we're gonna be able to showcase from Arkansas and connections there.
And then in October, we're going to feature a lot of Nashville connections. And this, you know, when you think of Nashville, you think of country music. All genres of music are evident in Nashville. And once you're there and you get to meet people, it's, it's fun to see what, what you discover. So from a friend of mine who I've known since she was a little girl here in Kentucky, works for one of the largest record labels in Nashville.
So she's gonna be one of our guests and it fun to hear her take on. How she has seen so much of country music change, but also who their artists are. And we're probably gonna have one of their up and coming, recording artists on with us as well. We're gonna tap into some other areas of Nashville that have unique businesses and opportunities that people have capitalized on that you may not have even thought would be, you know, A worthwhile venture, but these people are very successful in making a great living at what they're doing and enjoying and living their passion.
And so then the November will be 38. And goodness, we've got so many to feature in 30a from Rosemary Beach all the way to Pensacola. It is amazing, all the different. Little specialties that people have created and, and come up with to make their brand and to take their brand to the next level. And so it's fun to see the diversity and we'll definitely focus on that.
December, we'll finish out with the surprise. We're not even gonna tell you what that is yet, but it's gonna be another series for the month of December that will focus on, I guess, that are all tied into the same. And so.

Choosing material was not an exercise in exact science.
“It was more trial and error,” Sky said. “One or the other of us would come up with ideas and what we tried to do was not just do the songs you normally think of as duets, but try and find songs that stylistically blend in with both of us and have some relevance to our history, and then try to make it into a duet.”
Duets may sound like sweet musical magic to the masses’ untrained ears. Hearing how the sausage is actually made lends fresh perspective. Terms and phrases, such as “accommodating range” and “the challenge of singing into each other’s phrasing,” crop up when Sky is quizzed about the often-tedious recording process and its “challenges.”
“You have to be humble. Because it’s not, ‘My way or the highway.’ It’s definitely a collaboration.”

According to a recent survey by the Cleveland Clinic, “physician-dodging” is a disturbing status quo for men between the ages of 35 and 54. Only 43% of that middle-aged cohort reported seeing their doctors for annual physicals. That percentage increases as men get older — when serious illnesses pretty much compel them to see a professional — but even then, it’s treated as a last resort, and many of the patients aren’t on their best behavior. In the study, 65% of respondents said they avoid going to the doctor as long as possible.
When they do go, over a quarter of them customarily withhold information from their doctors. Some even admitted to years of lying to their doctors, in fear of hearing a dreaded diagnosis.
