Learn about Saima Munir, a teacher from Pakistan. She teaches at Islamabad Model School for Girls (1-10) Humak, for grades 8th to 10th. She is passionate about supporting her students both from the city and rural areas. She has worked on projects with UNESCO in capacity building. Like many people in Pakistan, English was not Saima’s first language but her third one, after learning Pashto and Urdu. Some of her students parent are not literate, so she must often must adjust how she teaches each student. Some of her classes can have up to 50 students. Learn about her strategies and personal reflections on the art of teaching, that she describes as a mirror. This mirror must be focused on student-centered instruction.

Meet Geremi Allauigan, an inspiring teacher working in a rural community with students from vulnerable areas in the Philippines. Not only does he teach English to primary students, but he also gives them access to food, social and nursing support and is part of a national program to actually to go to students homes to meet with them and teach in their home. He’ll share his stories and challenges of teaching students during the pandemic. And will give us a message of hope for the future to light the candle of teaching and hope in each students heart.
