Over the years I've noticed a lack of clarification with regard to our place in the Animal Kingdom. Many Christians curriculums lack a detailed explanation of where we fit in the Animal Classification Chart. In this episode, I'll discuss a conversation our homeschool group had about this very topic. God has clearly provided an explanation to our identity, where it rests, and who it resides in. Some may already know the answer to the question: Are Humans Mammals (or Animals)?, but many of us may not know how to describe it to our children, students, family, or friends. "As the direct descendants of the two people God made, we too are made in God’s image." ~Dr. Elizabeth Mitchell "The Bible clearly distinguishes between man and beast—something evolution does not do. Even on the purely biological plane, there is a wide, unbridgeable chasm between man and beast" ~Dr. Werner Git What Are Humans? Animals, Mammals, or Neither? ~Dr Elizabeth Mitchell

In this episode I'll discuss some of the reasons parents choose to homeschool. Obviously, we care about our kids just as much as public school parents do, but there are valid reasons outside of the primary reason that we feel called to take this 180 degree turn towards educating out children.
"80% of my time is spent disciplining children, only 20% of my day is spent teaching them something." ~private school teacher turned homeschooling momma
“The home is the first and most effective place to learn the lessons of life: truth, honor, virtue, self control, the value of education, honest work, and the purpose and privilege of life. Nothing can take the place of home in rearing and teaching children, and no other success can compensate for failure in the home.” -David O. McKay
“Once upon a time, all children were homeschooled. They were not sent away from home each day to a place just for children but lived, learned, worked, and played in the real world, alongside adults and other children of all ages.” -Rachel Gathercole

Ever wonder how you can homeschooling freely in such a corrupt state? In this episode, I'll break down all the aspects of homeschooling in California. Don't be discouraged, California is actually a great place to homeschool! We have very low regulations and in my 17 years of homeschooling, I've never had a problem! I'm thankful to live in such a beautiful state and I'll remain here to support homeschoolers as long as I have breath in my lungs. Not only will I discuss the laws, but some of the pros and cons to each of our 3 options. Don't worry sweet momma, the truth of California Homeschooling will set you free!
"Palm trees, ocean breeze, salty air, sun-kissed hair ~ California, take me there."
"If they can't do it in California, it can't be done anywhere."
"Homeschool allows you the freedom to step off the highway of Learning and take a more scenic route along a dirt road." -Tamara L. Chilver

Join my friend, Christina Werner, Co-Founder and VP of Strategic Partnerships with Public Sq. as we discuss why she pulled her two kids from a Public School she loved. You'll be intrigued to know that her experience with the Public School wasn't necessarily a terrible one. She loved the school, the teachers, and so much more. So why would a mom turn her back on a system that worked for her?
"I really felt called, this is my families little mission field. If you take all the light our of a dark place, then where is light? I really felt that me and my family were called to be a part of the public school." ~Christina Werner

There's an abundance of misinformation on social media about what homeschooling really is. New homeschoolers are often encouraged to do "school at home" and are told this is traditional homeschooling. There is nothing more detrimental to a new homeschooling family than this fallacy. Join me as I break down the nuances of traditional homeschooling, and shed some light on the freedoms this educational model provides. Grab some coffee, a pen and paper, and get ready to be set free! Check out the graphics on my Instagram page for further inspiration! "We're not trying to do school at home. We're trying to do homeschool. These are two entirely different positions. We're not trying to replicate the time, style or content of the classroom. Rather, we're trying to cultivate a lifestyle of learning in which learning takes place from morning until bedtime 7-days a week. The "formal" portion of each teaching day is just the tip of the iceberg." ~Steven and Jane Lambert - Five in a Row "Education is not the filling of a bucket but the lighting of a fire." ~W.B. Yeats

Recap of Part 1
Part 2
"Don't worry about socialization. Wherever people congregate there is going to be interaction, socialization. Where is it written that it needs to be in schools?" ~Mary Kay Clark

Today we'll discuss the responsibility of parents in their child's education and the importance of a Homeschool Vision.
After participating in a few education expos to help families exit the government schools, I noticed the same 5 topics were addressed. They’re more like 5 misunderstandings/myths/fallacies/etc. that new homeschooling parents believe.
So, to flip the narrative, we’re going to unpack 5 truths parents need to understand and more importantly believe with all their heart, mind, and soul to start this new journey with a strong foundation.
